Invincible Fight Girl will soon be making its highly anticipated debut with Adult Swim, and we got to talk with series creator Juston-Gordon Montgomery all about the new series ahead of its premiere. Invincible Fight Girl has been in production for quite a while, and was one of the animated series left in flux during all of the changes happening at Warner Bros. Discovery over the years. But thankfully, it’s gearing up to finally make its debut after all this time and soon fans will be treated to a new kind of action series mixing the fun of anime and wrestling together into a new experience.

As Invincible Fight Girl is finally going to make its premiere on Saturday, November 2nd at midnight with Adult Swim with its first two episodes (and then streaming with Max the next day), ComicBook got the chance to speak with series creator Juston-Gordon Montgomery about the new action series. Montgomery opened up about the anime influences that went into the new animated series, incorporating wrestling into the storytelling, that tease about its power system and more. Read on below for our full interview (which has been edited for clarity).

NICK VALDEZ, COMICBOOK: I first remember [Invincible Fight Girl] being announced back in 2022, and it’s probably been in development long before that. So how do you feel seeing it that it’s going to finally premiere on Toonami, the big anime showcase block for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim?

JUSTON-GORDON MONTGOMERY: It’s surreal. It sort of surpassed my wildest hopes and expectations. I think when I started this project, it was just an opportunity to create maybe a different type of show that we had seen in the West, and do something that who knows how big of an impact it would it would have. It would be something different in the space. So the fact that it’s been sort of elevated to this level where it’s gonna be viewable by everyone and it’s gonna be on Toonami, this place where that personally kind of has a lot of meaning for me. It feels surreal. It’s not something that if you would ask me in 2022, I would have said it was in the cards for us, yeah.

Toonami feels perfect for it too because, as you just mentioned, it’s got kind of like an anime flow to it that I don’t think I’ve ever seen in an action cartoon over here in terms of inner monologues, a lot of dust thrown up everywhere, stuff like that. And so I wanted to know, what are some of your direct anime influences that went into how you’ve laid out this show, and its action, and its world?

MONTGOMERY: Dragon Ball Z is a place that I always start, because that’s kind of like the granddaddy, just for tone, for intensity. You may have noticed some of our sound effects are even kind of like…we’re dog whistling to people who know that a little bit to be like, “Hey, you hear that sort of flying sound?” But then as we sort of get into kind of the genetic makeup of the show, Naruto is a big, big place that I start personally. That being one of the first anime outside of Dragon Ball Z as a kid that I found, and just being sort of mystified by this blend of sort of goofiness and at the same time, like, really heavy adult themes.

You know, we’re deal dealing with this main character who has this insane, oppressive loneliness that he feels, and he’s ostracized from his community. And at the same time, has to constantly sort of do this, to your point of the inner monologue, he has to constantly self talk to get himself to this place that he can be like, “No, I am gonna be someone that people respect. I am gonna achieve this dream that seems improbable and impossible” and the world view, world building of that.

One Piece, same for that world building. Hunter x Hunter is a big one as well. That was more of a recent sort of discovery for me, like, in the past 4 years. And as someone who had watched a lot of anime and for some reason had missed that, and had even seen Yu Yu Hakusho, I don’t know how I missed it. I was just so blown away by the twists and turns and the ways that the show almost seemed to be speaking to people who viewed Shonen and being like, “I know what you think is gonna happen. I’m deliberately gonna subvert that.” Oh, you think we’re gonna follow these characters? Nope. We’re gonna cut away to this other side of the world. We’re gonna follow these guys.

And you’re gonna be like, “Who the hell are these people? Why am I following them?” And then you’ll be like, “Ah, shit. This is really compelling. Okay.” What’s gonna happen, you know? So that was big. Just as a way of even rethinking what it meant to make a show and what it meant to create the focus of a show, world building, and the intricate-ness and all of that stuff. Then finally, I would say Hajime no Ippo was a massive one. As someone who loves boxing myself, I did boxing for a lot of years.

The show is beautiful in its ability to, whether you are familiar with boxing or not, convey to you the stakes and the why everything is meaningful, and the struggle, and the grind of it all. Again, whether or not you have a background to understand boxing or not. And so just that storytelling ability was huge in us looking at that and being like, well, we’re doing something like wrestling where, obviously, we want people who have a background and understand it to be able to appreciate it, but we sort of assume that a lot of our audience might not. So we want to convey to them why things are meaningful, why wrestling is awesome, but why moment to moment certain things they should feel a certain way about.

That’s interesting too because, wrestling is also a very much a storytelling focused art. And so, what era in particular of wrestling were you drawn to the most? Are you keeping up with anything right now by chance?

Not as much now. For me, my kind of formative era was Attitude Era. I’m a nineties kid. So, it was interesting too because that, to my perception, was when wrestling really kind of occupied a lot of the public spotlight. You know, even people who weren’t into it. It was kind of inescapable. It was sort of a perfect time for me as a kid to find it. There was something about the pageantry and the heights to which they would push the storytelling. The characters, the personas, and mistakes that felt, to your point, like a type of storytelling that was rivaling and surpassing anything that we could see that was written in terms of TV shows, sitcoms, movies or anything like that.

It’s cool seeing Andy too because Andy is such a character that combines all of that. She’s got the underdog wrestling story as well as that Shonen hero vibe of wanting her to overcome and eventually achieve her dreams. So what went into developing Andy as your main character for this series?

Andy, I like to sort of think of her as this stand in for the spirit of youth. So in this sort of grand metaphor that is the show where we’re talking about people following their dreams and following their passions, I think that there’s a sort of universal truth in anything that you pursue. There’s you kind of coming into this space that you’re unaware of, and then there’s the space itself, the institution that has these pre-established hierarchies. It has these dynamics. It has these big top dominant players already. Everything is sort of already sorted out.

Then here’s you who’s coming into the space as a young person who has to sort of fight for your spot. And a lot of that, I think, has to do with this sort of audaciousness. The audacity of youth and the hunger of youth. The ability to, while you have reverence for what came before, also kind of be ignorant of it and be like as a boxer, “Yeah, one day, I am gonna be as good as or better than Mayweather.” I think once you’ve lived a little bit, those sorts of claims seem kind of crazy.

But for young people who are looking to sort of establish themselves and make their mark, that is their lifeblood. That’s what fuels them. And so to me, that is Andy. Andy is that sort of young, audacious hunger that has this reverence for this world that exists already, is fascinated by it, is in love with it, and at the same time, is like “I’m gonna come in and find my way to be out on top of it.” There’s a combination of lots of different complex things that have to go into someone to be able to say that and stick to that. They experience a lot of different obstacles and adversity, still push through and decide, “Yes, this dream is something that’s possible for me.”

Speaking of dreams Quesa Poblana — great name, by the way — she’s got an aura. Speaking to how we talked Dragon Ball Z and One Piece earlier, she has a literal aura that has the kind of Dragon Ball Z visual and sound. Then it’s got a little bit of the One Piece Haki with just basically knocking everybody else out. So as a tease for the future, is this something that Andy can potentially do? Is it just specific to Poblana? Is this something that if Andy’s able to train, she can unlock?

Flat out, I would say yes. I think, for audiences who catch it, we are teasing a power system that exists in this world. Quesa Poblana is not the only one who can do it. She’s just the only one that we’ve seen do it. Andy will eventually get there, but there’s a bit of a secret to it beyond just developing your strength to a certain level. Quesa Poblana is kind of like a great window in our world, into what some of the higher level matches and higher level battles will be. So she exists both as a character and as a window into what the ceiling of this world looks like. How much room there is between that and where Andy, and some of the people she’s fighting, are currently.

We have finally come to the end of The Witches’ Road, but there was one more loss for the coven at the end. Wednesday night’s two-episode finale of Agatha All Along was packed with revelations about the Road, the witches on it, and even what might be next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but all of those revelations came with a price: one more witch met her end and this time, it could have major implications going forward. Warning: spoilers for the finale of Agatha All Along beyond this point. Read on only if you really want to know.

In the end, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) did not survive the adventure undertaken in the series, with the seemingly invincible and scheming witch finally taken out. However, it wasn’t the Road that killed Agatha nor was it a failed trial, or anything like that, really. Instead, Agatha went to Death willingly — and it turns out, the end for the legendary witch is only the beginning of the story. Picking up after last week’s trial which saw Lilia (Patti LuPone) sacrifice herself to end the Salem Seven, Agatha is back on the road and comes face to face with Rio (Aubrey Plaza), aka Death. It turns out that all along, Agatha has been distracting Rio from Death’s real target: Billy (Joe Locke). It turns out that, per Rio, Billy is an abomination who has messed with the “sacred balance” by taking a second life and she has to stop him from doing the same for Tommy. You see, it turns out that Tommy hasn’t been reborn yet and Billy’s mission to find his brother is a problem. Agatha ends up making Rio a deal: since Rio can’t kill Billy because he’d just reincarnate, he has to turn himself over to Death willingly. Agatha says she’ll get him to do so, but only if Rio stops pursuing her. Rio agrees.

Agatha, Billy, and Jen (Sasheer Zamata) continue on the Road to the final trial which sees Jen realize that Agatha was the witch who bound her and thus, Jen unbinds herself. But Agatha tells Billy about Tommy and the fact that he needs a body to enter and, during the final trial Agatha guides Billy through finding a vessel for Tommy, causing Billy to “complete” his trial and disappear. Agatha ends up also completing her trial but she ends up facing Death who isn’t thrilled that Billy wasn’t delivered to her. A fight ensues, Billy shows up — fully in his power — and aids Agatha by giving her some of his power. Agatha then appears to turn on Billy again, revealing her deal with Rio but when Billy reaches out to Agatha mentally to ask if this is how her own son died, Agatha does something unexpected: she kisses Rio and it is a literal Kiss of Death. Agatha dies, sacrificing herself for Billy.

But the story doesn’t end there. The final episode reveals Billy coming to the realization that he created The Witches’ Road and that realization comes with a surprise visitor: Agatha, as a ghost. Agatha reveals that before Billy, the Road really was just a myth, a lie, a con Agatha created centuries ago to kill witches and take their power. When Billy fully grasps that his manifesting the Road means he killed Mrs. Hart, Alice, and Lilia, he finds himself enraged and sets out to banish Agatha. He stops, however, when the ghost of Agatha reveals why she doesn’t want to simply move on to the afterlife: she doesn’t want to face her son. It leads to a tender moment between Billy and Agatha, with Billy saying he thinks Nicholas will forgive her, but ultimately, Agatha suggests that she and Billy would make a good team, with Agatha serving as a mentor of sorts for Billy. The episode — and series — ends with Billy sealing off the Road and Agatha announcing “let’s go find Tommy” as the two head out into the world together.

It’s a major development to be sure, not just because Agatha dies, but because Agatha (as a ghost) teaming up with Billy sets into motion the possibility for Marvel to, in the aim of looking for Tommy, set up the Young Avengers or even take on an adaptation of The Children’s Crusade. It also sets Agatha up to be more in keeping with her comic book counterpart in that she’s now in a position to train Billy with his magic — in comics, Agatha trained Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the art of magic. With Agatha, to an extent, redeemed, the possibilities are somewhat endless as to where the MCU can go with the character and it will be interesting to see play out.

AEW’s special Fright Night edition of Dynamite held a few welcome surprises, including a very unexpected change for the AEW Tag Team Championships. It wasn’t until the end of the episode though that the biggest change occurred, and it all went down after a match between Shelton Benjamin and Swerve Strickland. Strickland would come out victorious, and MVP made a quick call that would bring out the former WWE All Mighty superstar Bobby Lashley. Lashley would come out to the ring and confront Strickland before delivering a monster clothesline that knocked out Strickland cold. The Hurt Syndicate would then stand tall in the ring to close out Dynamite.

Benjamin and Strickland had a great match on tonight’s Dynamite, with a number of near falls. It seemed that Benjamin would emerge victorious with a big win under his belt early on in his AEW tenure, but Strickland was not to be denied, and would end up getting the win. MVP went to work quickly after though, and that’s when the chaos started.

MVP made the phone call and caused Strickland’s celebration in the middle of the ring to be cut short. Lashley then came out and headed towards the ring, and MVP was all too happy to rush back in and bring his new ally face to face with the former AEW World Champion. Lashley then went to work and knocked Swerve to the mat with a clothesline, and that was just the start of a chaotic finish.

After Strickland was knocked down, MVP choked Nana with his cane before throwing him into a stiff kick from Benjamine. Then Lashley grabbed Strickland and locked in a full nelson, knocking Swerve out cold. AEW officials came running out to the ring to restore order, but Benjamin and Lashley were simply destroying them as they hit the ring.

It was quite the finish to Dynamite, and also the launch of a new powerhouse faction within AEW. Lashley and Benjamin are now part of the Hurt Syndicate, though that doesn’t mean the group is done recruiting. MVP has been going around and talking to quite a few members of the AEW roster since his debut, inviting them to work with him and his then emerging faction.

That included stars like Mercedes Mone and even Strickland, though he turned it down. That decision has clearly led to some of the animosity from MVP, and now Lashley is here to make sure Swerve doesn’t get back up. One thing we’ve learned about Swerve though is you can never keep him down for long.

According to Fightful Select, Lashley was signed shortly before MVP debuted in AEW at Grand Slam back in September, and at one point the debut was expected to happen at WrestleDream. Those plans clearly changed, as Bryan Danielson would close out the event in a memorable confrontation with Jon Moxley. Now the debut has happened with Full Gear on the horizon, so it would seem we are building to a match between Lashley and Strickland at the pay-per-view.

In the age of streaming it’s never clear when a new TV show will come back for more episodes or not, and Marvel’s shows on Disney+ are no different. As shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye came to a close, fans waited to see if there would be a quick confirmation or any news about future seasons, to date Marvel’s Loki is the only live-action show to confirm that it had been renewed for additional episodes at the end of its first season. So here we are once again, wondering and asking ourselves if Agatha All Along will come back for a season 2 on Disney+, and the answer seems concrete, but is it?

The entire time that Marvel Studios and Disney have been marketing Agatha All Along it’s been using very specific language and key phrasing, “mini-series.” Even before it premiered, Marvel’s plans for Agatha All Along were for it to arrive as a one-and-done batch of nine episodes that told a complete story. With the final two chapters now streaming, we can safely say they managed that.

Of note however is the fact that Agatha All Along was a series born exclusively from the fact that Marvel fans and the general public responded so favorably to Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal of Agatha Harkness in WandaVision. That in mind, though a season 2 of Agatha All Along does not appear to be in the cards at all, plans could very quickly change at Marvel Studios and another story featuring Agatha, or another character from Agatha All Along starring in their own show.

Another nail in the coffin of the potential for Agatha All Along season 2 comes from series creator Jac Schaeffer. Having previously spearheaded WandaVision and now Agatha, Schaeffer is no stranger to crafting a singular story that is told across one season and concluded, and she’s been speaking the same way about Agatha All Along ahead of its premiere as she did with WandaVision.

“I think a lot of people talk about, in a TV show, [they] can spend so much more time with these characters, but that’s not the thrill for me,” Schaeffer told Script Mag. “The thrill for me is I can really take the audience’s hand and lead them on a journey that makes them want to come back week to week. It’s also why I haven’t yet made a multi-season show, because I throw everything into that season. I’m like this. These are all my tricks. You get them all in this limited series. Which has been really fun so far.”

The Scarlet Witch hasn’t been around in the MCU for a couple of years, since her death at the conclusion of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But that hasn’t stopped Wanda Maximoff from looming large over the events of Agatha All Along. Not only was Wanda the creator of the Westview anomaly, kick-starting Agatha’s journey, but so much of this show’s story is actually about Billy, one of Wanda’s sons.

The children that Wanda created managed to escape the hex as it fell, and Billy’s soul took up residence in the body of a teenager who had just died in a car accident. This is what ultimately sent Billy on the Witches’ Road, as he wants to find out what became of his brother, Tommy.

At the center of all this is Wanda’s legacy, which has caused plenty of fans to wonder if the Scarlet Witch would be making some sort of MCU return in Agatha All Along. Well, the final two episodes of Marvel’s newest TV venture hit Disney+ Wednesday night, answering that question once and for all. WARNING: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Agatha All Along! Unfortunately for longtime fans of the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff doesn’t appear in the final episode of Agatha All Along. There is a moment where Billy thinks back to his final moments in Westview and you can hear Wanda’s voice in his head. Outside of that one line of dialogue (which was brought over from WandaVision), there was no Wanda to be found.

All that to say, Wanda’s fingerprints were all over the show. The biggest twist of Agatha All Along was directly connected to the story of Wanda Maximoff. We learned in the final minutes of the series that it was Billy who actually created the Witches’ Road, though he didn’t mean to. He and the coven were taken on this journey, which was created in his own mind (based on things around his bedroom). The Witches’ Road is basically Billy’s Westview, but now he gets the chance to make up for that massive display of power going forward.

Most importantly, the door for Wanda’s return is absolutely not closed. If anything, it’s more open than ever before, now that we know how Billy and Death’s powers work. If another popular fan theory is to be believed, Wanda might already be back.

Marvel fans fully expect a post-credits scene whenever a new movie or TV show in the MCU arrives, and the Disney+ series Agatha All Along is no different. Though previous Marvel Studios TV shows on the streamer have had scenes in the credits in various episodes, Agatha All Along has not had any up to this point. With a two-episode series finale now streaming the question has to be asked and considered, does Agatha All Along‘s series finale have a post-credits scene? Spoilers follow!

In short, the answer is no. There is no post-credits scenes in either of the final two episodes of Agatha All Along. This arrives in contrast to a few other Marvel shows on Disney+ including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, all of which had credits scenes. Agatha All Along joins Secret Invasion as being one of the only Marvel shows with no credits scenes in any episodes.

Just because Agatha All Along doesn’t have a post-credits scenes doesn’t mean that the series doesn’t tease a new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the series wraps up, Agatha has died but has become a ghost, however she has a new role, guiding Billy in their new coven with a very specific mission at hand, finding his brother Tommy.

Agatha All Along may not have a post-credits scene but the series clearly sets up what’s next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Billy searching for his brother Tommy, Marvel Studios could not more obviously be hinting at the fact that the Young Avengers are coming. As Marvel fans may recall, the team was previously alluded to at the end of The Marvels when Kamala Khan decides to start a group of her own, moving to recruit Kate Bishop to the team.

In the pages of Marvel Comics the Young Avengers team has naturally included Billy/Wiccan, Tommy/Speed, Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, and America Chavez, with other members including Iron Lad, Kid Loki, Hulkling, Prodigy, Patriot, Noh-Varr, and others. Though Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel hasn’t been a member of the Young Avengers, she has appeared on the Champions, which is a similar team and one that may inspire the MCU team in the end as well. It’s unclear who might make it on the team when the Young Avengers finally do appear in the MCU, but Kamala Khan, Billy, Tommy, and Kate Bishop are all very safe bets.

To date Agatha All Along has been publicized as a mini-series for Disney+, with no indication from Marvel Studios that this plan has changed, so it seems unlikely that a second season of the show will ever get made, perhaps another reason why a post-credit scene wasn’t used.

We’ve finally come to the end of The Witches’ Road with the Agatha All Along finale and while the last two episodes of the Marvel series held quite a few revelations about Billy, Agatha, and even the very Road itself, the episodes also gave fans an answer to what might have been the biggest question of all. That’s right, the final episodes of Agatha All Along finally answered the question of whether Mephisto would finally be introduced to the MCU and it might not be the answer you’re expecting. Warning: Spoilers for the final episodes of Agatha All Along beyond this point.

Despite getting a name drop earlier in the season, Mephisto once again does not show up. We are once again left wanting when it comes to Marvel’s devil. Instead, the only spooky or even lightly sinister thing we get in the finale — and indeed in all of Agatha All Along — is Death herself. Looks like we are once again going to be sitting here waiting at the proverbial station, waiting for the Mephisto train to come.

Now that we are finally at this moment, it feels like we’ve been on this journey — or the Mephisto train, if you will — for years. Speculation that the devilish character was involved in the overall story of Westview has persisted since WandaVision where there were countless theories that Mephisto was actually behind Wanda Maximoff’s actions in Westview as the series antagonist. That, however, ended up not being the case when it was revealed that Wanda was creating the hex on her own but her real antagonist was none other than Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) who does not appear to have been influenced by anything other than her own lust for power.

Speculation that Mephisto might show up for the WandaVision spinoff started pretty early on as well, but really ramped up when a teaser for Agatha All Along showed Teen/Billy Kaplan (Joe Locke) with a sigil over his mouth preventing Agatha (and others) from hearing his real name. Many fans speculated that the sigil, which looked like an M, signified Mephisto complete with the suggestion that perhaps Mephisto was keeping Billy’s identity under wraps. And by the time we actually got a Mephisto name drop in episode 3 of the series, fans were more convinced than ever we’d be seeing the character by series’ end — and even showrunner Jac Schaeffer encouraged fans to keep their eyes open by reminding just how tied to Agatha’s story Mephisto really is in comics.

“With these shows, so often there is something that is at once a joke and a wink and a nod, and actually has something legitimate underneath it,” Schaeffer said previously. “As we all know, Mephisto is a character who’s very wrapped into Agatha’s storyline. I mean, people have to watch, but we’re always playing with the audience in that way.”

Now that we are finally here with the real answer about Mephisto, we can also start looking ahead to what’s next. A third Doctor Strange film seems like the next logical place for a character like Mephisto to appear, though at this point everything about Doctor Strange 3 is currently a rumor — including reports that Sam Raimi, who previously directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which itself had direct ties to WandaVision, would be returning to direct. We could also potentially see Mephisto in the other WandaVision spinout, the Vision series, thought that might be a little less likely. Wherever things do end up going, the revelation in the final episodes of Agatha All Along do offer up some potential for the character as the MCU continues.

As it turns out, The Witches’ Road has legend status because it is exactly that: a legend. It is revealed that The Witches’ Road doesn’t actually exist, or more accurately, did not exist until Billy (Joe Locke) willed it into existence with his powers, creating his own sort of “hex” to manifest it. The revelation that The Witches’ Road was never real also has a revelation of its own tucked into it. Agatha has, indeed, been lying for centuries about her experience with the road. The reality is much grimmer: the Road was a story created by Agatha to use in order to steal the powers of other witches for herself. We saw a peek of this earlier in the season, when Agatha gathered this current, makeshift coven and then tried to prompt them into blasting her with their powers. Agatha knew that she couldn’t open a gate to the Road because it didn’t exist. It was a fiction from the start.

This also explains a comment Rio (Aubrey Plaza) made in Episode 4, where she tells Agatha that she can get the powers of the other witches and she will get the bodies. We already knew that there was an existing relationship between Agatha and Rio, but now knowing that Rio is Death and Agatha was scamming witches to take their power (and their lives) for centuries, it’s a whole new dimension towards that relationship.

Of course, the reveal that The Witches’ Road wasn’t real also adds some new dimension to other aspects of the series we’ve seen. Since the Road itself was a myth created by Agatha, she knew from the start that whatever they were walking was likely of Billy’s creation, she just simply went along with it. This also means that the little details that many fans picked up on as the Road spread out in front of them each episode were genuinely clues — and by this we specifically mean the details that showed the Road to be very Billy-coded, such as the fictional witches, the horror movie-themed trial and more. And of course, there’s the largest implication of them all: Agatha knew pretty early on that Billy was Wanda’s son and to an extent suggests that she went along with things with the hope of taking Billy’s powers for her own, much like she planned to do with Wanda in WandaVision.

What is particularly interesting What is particularly interesting about the revelation that Billy created the Road is that we also get the history of how the concept of the Road came to be. The finale takes viewers back into Agatha’s history where it’s revealed that when she gives birth to Nicholas, she’s told by Death that all she can give her is time — meaning that the boy is going to die. While it is not expressly stated that Agatha has an existing arrangement with Death to kill witches, we soon see Agatha going about the business of doing just that with her young son in tow, indeed even utilizing him in the scheme. As they walk along together, young Nicky starts singing a song that eventually becomes the Ballad, and in turn, becomes the legend of the Road that Agatha uses to lure in witches that she kills for their power.

Billy’s realization — and Agatha’s confirmation — that the Road wasn’t real until he made it so not only hints at Billy starting to come into his true power, but also ultimately sets him on a different sort of journey. When Agatha dies to spare him Death (though Agatha later insists she didn’t sacrifice herself, you know, just Agatha being Agatha here), she returns to Billy as a ghost unwilling to transition so she doesn’t have to face her son. It puts her in a position to be his guide — and the two are now a coven of their own off on a new impossible mission: find Tommy.

Halfway through Marvel’s Agatha All Along, MCU fans learned the surprising fate of Wanda Maximoff’s children. While she created them as part of the Westview anomaly, their souls became real and escaped the hex as it fell. Billy was able to inhabit the body of a teenage boy who’d just died in a car accident, but he had no idea what had happened to his twin brother, Tommy.

Unlike Billy, Tommy hasn’t been a main character on Agatha All Along, leaving fans to wonder if his twin brother would ever actually find him or not. Billy’s entire purpose on the Witches’ Road has been to figure out where Tommy’s soul ended up, so the two could reunite and once again be a family. On Wednesday night, the Agatha All Along finale arrived on Disney+, finally revealing what became of Wanda’s other son.

Early on in the eighth episode of Agatha All Along, Death reveals to Agatha that Tommy didn’t find his second life quite as easily as Billy did. She attempts to make a deal with Agatha to get Billy to surrender his soul, because she doesn’t believe he was supposed to get that second opportunity at all.

Both Agatha and Death know that Billy has the power to give Tommy a second life, should he be able to locate the lost soul of his brother. Agatha, after making a deal with Death, helps Billy search through the ether to find a body for Tommy to inhabit. He locates a boy who is drowning and seemingly sends Tommy’s soul into the body. This action completes Billy’s journey on the Witches’ Road, sending him back to reality and leaving Agatha all alone.

There’s a lot that happens between that scene and the full, official Tommy reveal, but Agatha All Along does bring it all full-circle. Well, sort of.

In the very last scene of Agatha All Along, Billy is joined by Agatha’s ghost, who tells him, “Let’s go find Tommy.” So whatever Billy did back on the Witches’ Road to get Tommy’s soul into a new body must have actually worked. His brother is out there and alive. The only trouble is, Billy isn’t sure where he is.

So whenever we next see Billy in the MCU (and he feels like a potential major character for the franchise going forward), he’ll either be searching for Tommy, or finally reunited with his long lost brother.

Marvel Studios is looking ahead to 2025. The studio on Wednesday released a sizzle reel for the film and TV projects coming to Disney+ during the remainder of the year and into next year, including Deadpool & Wolverine (streaming in November), the third and final season of What If…? (Dec. 22), and new series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Jan. 29), Daredevil: Born Again (March 4), Ironheart (June 24), Eyes of Wakanda (Aug. 6), Marvel Zombies (October 2025), and Wonder Man (December 2025).

The Marvel Studios slate for 2025 now includes Captain America: Brave New World (Feb. 14), Thunderbolts* (May 2), and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25), plus the six series teased in the trailer below. (Marvel’s Blade was recently removed from Disney’s release calendar, leaving the Mahershala Ali-fronted reboot without a release date.)

The nine projects follow a relatively light year for Marvel Studios, which released Echo in January, Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 in March, and Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along in September. Deadpool & Wolverine was the only Marvel Cinematic Universe movie of the year — something that hasn’t happened since The Avengers was Marvel’s lone release in 2012.

The nearly two-minute trailer contains footage that, until now, was kept under wraps or shown only to the convention crowd during Disney’s D23 in August. Included are first looks at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as actor Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man, Anthony Ramos as the supernatural supervillain The Hood, Charlie Cox’s new Daredevil suit, and much more. Mayor Wilson Fisk

The Daredevil revival is inspired by the Mayor Fisk storyline in the pages of Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s run on Daredevil, and Devil’s Reign, where the Kingpin of Crime used his powers as mayor to make vigilantism a criminal offense — outlawing Daredevil, Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and more street-level superheroes. The series also pulls from the Born Again storyline by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli spanning 1986’s Daredevil #227–231, which saw Fisk systematically destroy Matt Murdock’s life after learning his arch-enemy’s secret identity.

The Punisher Reloaded

Jon Bernthal reprises his role as the vigilante Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher, who wages a one-man war against crime to avenge his murdered family. Bernthal first appeared in Daredevil season 2 and last appeared in The Punisher season 2 in 2019. One batch, two batch, penny and dime…

Daredevil’s New Costume

The horn-headed hero of Hell’s Kitchen has undergone another redesign after making cameos in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo. Daredevil’s new duds are crimson red with black highlights, but still no sign of the “DD” chest emblem.

Ironheart 2.0

Speaking of new suits: genius inventor Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) is suiting up in the Mark III Ironheart armor in her own Disney+ series. Riri built her Iron Man-like Mark I suit of armor by herself before Shuri (Letitia Wright) gave her the resources to create an upgraded armor — the vibranium-made Mark II — in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The Hood

Anthony Ramos (Hamilton, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) is seen for the first time as Parker Robbins, a.k.a. the supernatural supervillain known as the Hood. In the comics, he was a common criminal who became an Avengers-level threat after stealing a demon’s magical cloak that is empowered by Dormammu, Lord of the Dark Dimension, and enemy of the sorcerer Doctor Strange. In addition to his mystical powers, the Hood possesses a pair of pistols that fire magical bullets.

Alden Ehrenreich as [Spoiler] 2.0?

The trailer introduces Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Oppenheimer) as Joe McGillicuddy, a character who doesn’t have a counterpart in the comics. However, it’s been rumored that Ehrenreich has been cast as — spoiler warning — Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane, the terrorist son of Jeff Bridges’ Iron Man villain Obadiah Stane: the original Iron Monger.

What If…? Season 3

New footage from the animated anthology series shows a cowboy Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) reunited, and a mecha Captain America. This suggests an episode is inspired by the five-issue series Avengers Mech Strike, where the Steve Rogers of Earth-21443 piloted a star-spangled mech suit.

Marvel Zombies

From the brraaaaains behind What If…? comes Marvel Zombies. The four-episode event series is rated TV-MA, meaning there will be blood, gore, and graphic violence. What If…? adapted Marvel Zombies in the season 1 episode “What If… Zombies?!,” which featured zombified versions of Iron Man, Captain America, the Scarlet Witch, and more of Earth’s undead heroes.

Trevor Slattery’s Third Act

The Hollywood-set Wonder Man has a co-star: actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), who posed as the Mandarin in 2013’s Iron Man 3 and was later abducted by the Ten Rings (in the 2014 short film All Hail the King). After Slattery returned in 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, he’ll make another comeback in the new series from Shang-Chi filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton.

Eyes of Wakanda

The trailer only offers a glimpse at the four-part animated Black Panther spinoff series, which “will explore Wakandan history through tales of the brave warriors who traveled the world to collect vibranium artifacts.”

WWE’s Rhea Ripley was violently attacked on this week’s NXT, and now WWE has given a major health update for the fan favorite superstar. Those who tuned into NXT this week saw Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez walking away after a vicious attack on Ripley that left her bleeding and in rough shape. There was quite a bit of blood around her eye after the attack, and now WWE has confirmed that Ripley suffered a fractured right orbital socket, which will put Ripley out of action for “an undisclosed amount of time.”

WWE shared X-Rays of the injury, and according to Fightful those are evidently real x-rays too. While WWE shared the images, Ripley then shared them with red circles highlighting the exact injury. She also had a message for Morgan and Rodriguez, writing, “Mistake no.1 You left me breathing.” You can check out the x-rays above.

The Rundown

If you didn’t watch NXT this week, you’re probably wondering what on earth happened to Ripley. This week’s NXT was a true spotlight on the Women’s Division from beginning to end, including a segment that had Zaria, Stephanie Vaquer, Guilia, Kelani Jordan, and Jordynne Grace standing in the ring opposite Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, and Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx.

That would end in a collision amongst all 10 women, and the brawl would result in NXT General Manager Ava Raine making a match featuring all 10 women official for next week’s NXT 2300. With the teams set, a later backstage segment showed the face team talking in the locker room, and they were surprised by Ripley. Ripley would lend some encouraging words and root them on, and social media we would see Ripley taking pictures with Grace and Zaria as well.

Unfortunately the good times quickly subsided when Ripley was attacked by her car. This is the latest chapter in the ongoing saga between Ripley and Morgan, who have been feuding for a while now. The bad blood between Morgan and Ripley is going to get worse from here though, as this will be the second time Morgan has put Ripley out of commission.

The Return

The last time was thanks to a flying chair that hit Ripley backstage, and it took a while for Ripley to come back from that. While Ripley was away from Raw, Morgan made a move on Dominik Mysterio, and though it took some time, Morgan eventually won him over, with Mysterio saving Morgan from Ripley’s grasp. Since then Ripley got some revenge by beating Mysterio senseless with a kendo stick while he was hanging from a cage by a chain, though Morgan would get the win in that match thanks to the distraction.

As for when Ripley will return, it would seem that the perfect place for her to return would be the Royal Rumble. Morgan and Rodriguez can feud with other people while Ripley recovers, with an occasional vignette or two to keep the storying relevant. Then a return at Rumble would ignite it once more as WWE heads into WrestleMania. That’s all just conjecture of course, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

King of the Hill is now in the works on a new revival series, and it might be the time for Dale Gribble to find out that Joseph isn’t actually his biological son. King of the Hill‘s original run came to as close to perfect of an end as an animated series could hope for. It ended without many mysteries for the rest of the characters, and teased that they would all be heading into a bright future despite the fact that we wouldn’t be following them anymore. Now that King of the Hill is coming back with a new series, there will undoubtedly be shake ups.

Joseph’s parentage had been one of the core side plots for King of the Hill as while Dale had nothing but love for his wife and son, it was made clear early on that his son was actually the biological child of John Redcorn, a man that Nancy Gribble had many affairs with. Despite Dale being so paranoid and untrusting of the world around him, he never really had any doubt that Joseph was his son despite the blatantly obvious happening in front of him. But with the new episodes, this could finally happen and we could see how Dale feels about it all.

Will Dale Find Out About Joseph?

According to updates from those involved with the production, King of the Hill‘s new revival series is taking place nearly a decade after the events of the original series. This means that nearly ten years have passed as Joseph continues to age, and John Redcorn himself likely loses patience with the fact that he’s not as involved with his biological son’s life as he wants to be. This was one of the key plot points of the original series between Dale and John, but the two eventually formed a friendship that seemed to temporarily settle things between them.

But ten years is a long, long time. Plenty of changes have been made to the characters in the series that are more than just them all getting older. Joseph himself has always been shown to be curious about why he seems so different from his parents, and an adult aged Joseph is even more likely to have connected the dots eventually. It’s something that even could have happened off-screen in the years ahead of the new series’ stories that we’ll see when they premiere.

Why Dale Won’t Care

But the question of whether or not Dale will figure out Nancy cheated on him ultimately won’t matter. While he might feel betrayed by Nancy, Dale has shown nothing but love for his son regardless. As has been seen multiple times through the original King of the Hill series, Dale is a great father. While he has his shortcomings when it comes to seeing eye to eye with his son, the two ultimately share a very close bond. It’s even to the point where Dale was challenged with the idea that Joseph isn’t his biological son directly and he didn’t back down.

In the Season 6 episode, “Of Mice and Little Green Men,” Dale actually confronted the idea that Joseph wasn’t his son. It was in a roundabout way as he believed that aliens had impregnated his wife, and it was Hank that talked him out of giving up. Hank told Dale that he was the one that was around for all of the important moments of Joseph’s life, and thus he was his father. This was what Dale needed, and thus he was able to confidently claim Joseph as his own. In Dale’s way (even convincing himself that he must have been abducted and those are his genes Nancy was implanted with), this was Dale overcoming his doubts that the son in front of him wasn’t his.

So even if he discovers that Joseph isn’t his own biological son, he’s already been through the process of accepting Joseph anyway. He’s already broken through his doubts, and love Joseph as his son either way. It’s not going to change his relationship with his son, and while it might shift things around for his relationships with Nancy and John Redcorn, at the end of the day Dale is still going to love Joseph regardless.

Dale Already Might Know, Anyway

There’s also a good chance that Dale already knows about all of this anyway. Along with “Of Mice and Little Green Men” teasing the fact that Dale already suspected Joseph wasn’t his own son, there have been a few key examples that have had Dale put the pieces together on his own. It’s teased that Dale might be too oblivious to truly understand what’s going on in his own (which adds to the tragic irony of his paranoia), but it also could be that he’s already fully accepted the reality and just doesn’t outwardly acknowledge.

The two big examples you can point to for this are Season 7’s “Vision Quest,” as Dale quite literally sees his subconscious telling him that John Redcorn is Joseph’s father. The second is Season 12’s “Untitled Black McCormick Project” where John Redcorn’s surprise daughter appears in the neighborhood and Dale figures out that she shares similar DNA with Joseph. In both cases, his thoughts go so off the mark that he convinces himself that he’s still involved genetically. What these importantly showcase is that deep down, Dale likely understands that Joseph isn’t his own.

So while King of the Hill’s new revival might be where Dale finally pieces together that Joseph isn’t his genetic son, it’s also not the first time he’s discovered this fact. We’ve seen multiple examples of Dale coming face to face with this reality only to brush it off, so it’s likely going to be the same case here. But there’s one big difference this time around, unfortunately, and that’s Johnny Hardwick’s role in the revival overall.

Johnny Hardwick, Dale Gribble’s voice actor, was reportedly only able to record “a couple” of his episodes before his tragic passing. If this big scene were to happen, it might not be in one of these episodes. If Dale is recast for the series’ future, then it’d be weird to then do this kind of story without the famous actor that brought him to life in the first place. This is all such a wild tightrope to walk, but the King of the Hill team is likely very up to the task for the new revival.

Comic Book movies and TV shows are still going strong right now, with Sony-Marvel’s Venom: The Last Dance opening in theaters, while DC’s Batman spinoff The Penguin is earning major acclaim on HBO. Most superhero fans would agree that Venom 3 and The Penguin couldn’t be more different in terms of tone and subject matter; however, they do share something in common: breakout performances by lead actors (Tom Hardy and Colin Farrell, respectively), which are the heart of both franchises.

There’s also a dark weird connection between Venom: The Last Dance and The Penguin – specifically Episode 6, which aired during Venom 3‘s opening weekend:

Actor Jared Abrahamson had quite a week for an aspiring actor: he played a bit role in Venom: The Last Dance as Captain Forrest, a member of Imperium; he also had a recurring role in The Penguin as “Squid,” a local shot-caller and drug dealer operating in the slums neighborhood of Crown Point.

Abrahamson was much more of a background character as Cpt. Forrest in Venom 3: he appeared in scenes as a right-hand-man to Imperium military commander General Rex Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor); however, in the film’s third act, the symbiote god Knull sends his Xenophage monsters to attack Imperium’s base at Area 51 resulting in the death or retreat of nearly ever Imperium team member. Forrest’s fate is unknown after the film (though is wiki lists him as “alive”).

The Penguin gave Jared Abrahamson a much bigger spotlight in Episode 6: his story arc with Penguin’s sidekick Victor Aguilar (Rhenzy Feliz) came to a head when Squid finally leaned on Victor to set him up with an introduction to Penguin. When Squid goes so far as to threaten Victor with snitching to the cops or rival gangs, Victor takes the drastic step of shooting him in the neck. Abrahamson got a bloody death scene as he bleeds out in an alley – but it’s a performance that will definitely spice up his highlight reel! Not to mention the rush that Abrahamson is probably enjoying right now, having two high-profile projects out simultaneously.

Jared Abrahamson has previously appeared in the indie comedy On the Count of Three (starring Jarrod Carmichael and Christopher Abbott); episode arcs in the Hulu series Letterkenny and Ramy, and Apple TV+’s The Changeling. He is probably best known for starring in Netflix’s time-travel sci-f-drama-mystery series Travelers (2016-2018).

It seems Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been struck with the killing curse. Actor Eddie Redmayne, who played magizoologist Newt Scamander in the J.K. Rowling-penned trilogy, told ComicBook this week that moviegoers “probably have” seen the last of his character on the big screen after Warner Bros. Discovery rebranded the Wizarding World franchise to simply Harry Potter. And now Jude Law, who portrayed the younger Dumbledore in two of the three Fantastic Beasts installments, suggests Warner Bros. has abandoned plans for the fourth and fifth Fantastic Beasts movies.

“I know it’s certainly on hold,” Law told Variety. “My guess would be that, now that they’re doing Harry Potter as a TV show, they’ll probably put their energy into that. I certainly haven’t heard that there’s anything on the horizon.”

Even before the first Fantastic Beasts released in 2016, author and series creator Rowling announced a five-movie plan for the spinoffs set nearly a century before the events of the Harry Potter films. Fantastic Beasts, based on the fictional textbook within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, went on to gross $814 million at the global box office, while 2018’s The Crimes of Grindelwald dropped to $654 million. 2021’s The Secrets of Dumbledore is the lowest-grossing Wizarding World movie at $407 million worldwide.

“I think they probably have [seen the last of Newt],” Redmayne told ComicBook. “That was a very frank answer, but yeah. And that’s as far as I know. I mean, you’d have to speak to the people at Warner Bros. and J.K Rowling, but as far as I know, that’s it.”

In 2020, Redmayne issued a statement saying he disagreed with Rowling’s anti-trans tweets, joining Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Evanna Lynch, and Bonnie Wright in speaking out against the author’s comments. Rowling scripted the first two Fantastic Beasts and co-wrote the third with Harry Potter veteran scribe Steve Kloves.

The HBO Harry Potter TV show is the first live-action project to be greenlit since Secrets of Dumbledore. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has described the Harry Potter franchise as a priority for the company after the eight-movie saga grossed nearly $8 billion between 2001 and 2011.

The television series is described as a “faithful adaptation” of Rowling’s seven books, with the author serving as executive producer via her Brontë Film. HBO, in association with Warner Bros. Television, is currently casting actors for the series from showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner (HBO’s Succession) and executive producer and director Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones and The Last of Us).

“The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, full of the fantastic detail and much-loved characters Harry Potter fans have loved for over twenty-five years,” according to Warner Bros. Discovery. “Each season will bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and cherished films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.”

Law will next appear as Force user Jod Na Nawood in the new series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which premieres Dec. 3 on Disney+.

For years, Dragon Ball has commanded the attention of fans globally, and that grip is only getting tighter. Son Goku is one of the most famous characters on television, after all. From movie to TV, Dragon Ball knows what it takes to win, and it is proving as much with Dragon Ball Daima. The new anime is just a few episodes in, and despite its few critics, the show is eating up streaming ratings.

If you did not realize, Dragon Ball Daima came to life at the start of October, and it marks the anime’s first foray since 2018. The show began strong with an extended premiere, and Toei Animation cleaned the plate with its animation. From is lore drops to its solid visuals, Dragon Ball Daima is thriving, and Netflix has confirmed this truth with a new ratings update.

Dragon Ball Daima Is a Big Hit

You can head over to Netflix’s Top 10 to see this much for yourself. If you look at the service’s global numbers, Dragon Ball Daima ranked in second place for non-English TV shows. The anime made this push between October 21st and October 27th despite competition from other top-notch anime titles.

For instance, Dandadan came in third place during this time frame with 3.1 million views. Ranma 1/2 also popped up on the list with a sixth-place ranking. The main competition facing these anime titles comes with South Korean drams. But so far as anime is concerned, Dragon Ball Daima is doing well at Netflix just two episodes in.

This data is only paired with Dragon Ball Daima‘s success elsewhere online. According to Google, the anime has ranked as one of the top ten most-searched anime series since its release. It is competing against shows like Dragon Ball Z hilariously enough, and other hits like Blue Lock and My Hero Academia are included. In Japan, the popular news site Mynavi has ranked Dragon Ball Daima as the top anime to watch in Fall 2024. So if you ever doubted Goku, well – think again.

Oh, and that doesn’t even touch the success Dragon Ball Daima has on Max. The streaming service oversees the anime’s release in South America as well in select European markets. Dragon Ball Daima has not left the service’s Top 10 list since its debut. Markets like Belize, Mexico, and Haiti have leaned into the anime especially. There is no shortage of love for Son Goku, and that is true no matter where you go.

Dragon Ball Daima Is the Perfect Anime for Beginners

If you have not checked out Dragon Ball Daima, we can tell you the anime is the perfect place to start your journey with Goku. The show is set after the events of Dragon Ball Z, but it almost gives our heroes a blank slate. We meet Goku and his friends after they defeated Majin Buu, and their lives are thrown into chaos when the Demon Realm makes a move.

Dragon Ball Daima follows Goku as he is transformed into a mini version of himself, and we have some demons to blame. The hero is tasked with traversing the Demon Realm to figure out what changed his group into minis. And along the way, we have been given a massive update on lore and history that will give beginners a good idea of where Dragon Ball stands.

Right now, Dragon Ball Daima is streaming on Crunchyroll, and it has a delayed cast over on Netflix. The anime has an English dub in the works as well, but don’t go looking for it just yet! The dub of Dragon Ball Daima will premiere in U.S. theaters this November before it makes its way to streaming.

From Tower of God to Solo Leveling and True Beauty, webtoons are taking over anime. We have seen the industry explode in recent years, and as webtoons become bigger, more fields are eyeing web comics. Anime has been at the forefront, and thanks to a new report, we have learned Studio Pierrot is jumping into the fray. The studio behind Naruto and Bleach is teaming up with a South Korean animator to bring webtoons to the screen.

As you can see below, Studio Pierrot and Red Dog Culture House have come together. The two companies have locked in a partnership, and it will bring their teams together. Moving forward, the companies will do joint productions targeting “global” audiences, and the partnership will focus on Latna Saga.

Studio Pierrot Is Getting Into Webtoons at Last

According to the deal, Latna Saga: The Survival Sword King is the first IP gunning for an adaptation under this deal. The series will move into production later this year, so no release window has been decided. However, the anime adaptation of Latna Saga could arrive as soon as 2025 if industry trends hold up.

As for this specific deal with Studio Pierrot, it is expected to last three years. It will be back by investment and funding from Japanese production companies. Once Latna Saga has been handled, future projects will be up for grabs as Studio Pierrot and Red Dog Culture House have more IPs in their future.

Now if you are not familiar with Latna Saga, the webtoon went live in 2019 under creators YKB and Soon Q. Studio Khit oversees the web comic, and it tells the story of Hanbin Ryu as he is taken to a new world isekai style. Following a career in the military, Hanbin is keen to fight, but things go wrong with his isekai hop. The man took 20 years to travel, and when he reaches his new world, Hanbin is faced with a society that hates travelers. He is forced to rank up his reputation in-world to show the world wrong, and of course, plenty of villains made themselves known to the Sword King.

Anime Is Expanding Its Webtoon Ties in Big Ways

Clearly, Studio Pierrot is ready to turn its attention to webtoons, and this kind of expansion is warranted. When it comes to graphic novels, manga and webtoons are leading the game globally. Series like Solo Leveling have earned billions of views to date, and their anime adaptations are popping. Next January, Solo Leveling season two will make its grand debut, and hype for the show is high.

There is no denying the anime industry’s interest in webtoons, so Studio Pierrot’s new partnership will expand its reach. This year, shows like True Beauty brought their anime to life, and Tower of God season two made its grand debut. From The God of High School to Noblesse, the list of anime webtoons is growing by the day. So while Studio Pierrot keeps focus on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, well – you should know its staff is also looking at WEBTOON and Tapas for new projects.

Kelly Macdonald is the newest addition to HBO’s Lanterns series, and she may be playing the love interest for Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan. Lanterns is a live-action adaptation of DC’s Green Lanterns headlined by Kyle Chandler as veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and Aaron Pierre as the new recruit on the block, John Stewart. Macdonald is no stranger to HBO, having starred as Margaret Thompson on Boardwalk Empire during its run on the premium network. She earned an Emmy nomination for the role, and won an Emmy for her performance in the BBC TV movie The Girl in the Café.

Deadline reports Kelly Macdonald is playing Sheriff Kerry, who is “a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that’s hardened her resolve, anchors her when the community’s secrets begin to surface.” Sheriff Kerry is believed to be a romantic love interest for Chandler’s Hal Jordan, who has been linked to Carol Ferris in the comics. However, it doesn’t appear that Macdonald is portraying a live-action version of Carol Ferris.

Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. The Green Lantern show has been compared to True Detective as far as the vibe that the creatives are going for.

Chris Mundy (Ozark, True Detective: Night Country) is the showrunner for Lanterns, with Mundy co-writing alongside Damon Lindelof (Watchmen, The Leftovers), and DC comic writer Tom King. King is an Eisner Award winner for his work on Batman and Mister Miracle, and his Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is being adapted into a feature film starring Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon).

Along with Boardwalk Empire and The Girl in the Café, Kelly Macdonald’s resume also includes the British comedy horror film The Radleys and the Netflix thriller series Department Q.

Lanterns is a part of the new DC Universe being built by DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. The first project under the studio to make it to fans is the adult-animated series Creature Commandos, which has a premiere date of December 5th on Max. It will be followed by the Superman feature film directed by Gunn and starring David Corenswet. Future projects on HBO/Max include Season 2 of Peacemaker and an Amanda Waller solo series.

Curb Your Enthusiasm “Fixes” The Seinfeld Finale

Though the Curb Your Enthusiasm finale was generally well received, executive producer Jeff Schaffer made his feelings known to The Wrap regarding anyone that took issue with it:

“No, I mean it was like, we’re giving you the Seinfeld finale on steroids. We’re owning that Larry’s learned nothing, so if you don’t like it, too bad, we don’t care,” Schaffer explained. “There was never hesitation not to do it, because it felt right.”

“There’s just a lot of work on making sure that it’s not just that, that it’s also a funny episode of Curb,” he added. “It was very important for us that the final episode was a good episode of Curb. So that was the part that was the most difficult, weaving these stories together and having some of them blow up in court.”

Schaffer mused, “I mean, having Susie in a blonde wig, in a wheelchair, to grudgingly go along with Larry, only to have that blow up in his face… those are Curb stories that are happening and coming to a denouement in the trial itself. It was really important that it wasn’t just a trial with our guys sitting there.”

Disney+ has thwipped up the first footage from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Marvel Studios unveiled a sizzle reel for its upcoming slate of 2025 TV projects, including first looks at the new Spider-Man animated series (Jan. 29), Black Panther spinoff Eyes of Wakanda (Aug. 6), and Marvel Zombies (Oct. 2025), plus the live-action Marvel Television series Daredevil: Born Again (March 4, 2025), Ironheart (June 24), and Wonder Man (Dec. 2025).

Fans can get their first look at the next Marvel Animation series in the video below, which shows Peter Parker (voiced by Hudson Thames) suited up in a prototype Spider-Man suit and the more classic red-and-blues. The footage also shows some of the supporting cast of characters that includes Harry Osborn (Zeno Robinson), Lonnie Lincoln (Eugene Byrd), Nico Minoru of the Runaways (Grace Song), Amadeus Cho, and Norman Osborn (voiced by Colman Domingo).

Marvel Comics will publish a five-issue prequel to the animated series starting in December, before the show’s series premiere on Jan. 29. The series, set during Peter Parker’s freshman year as a newbie crime-fighting vigilante, is inspired by the MCU Spider-Man but takes place in an alternate timeline.

Jeff Trammel (Disney’s Amphibia and The Owl House, Cartoon Network’s Craig of the Creek) created and executive produces Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which “follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots,” per the official synopsis. 

“Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is amazing, to say the least,” Brad Winderbaum, the head of streaming, television, and animation for Marvel Studios, told ComicBook, adding the show is “very much like a cut” from the classic Stan Lee and Steve Ditko era of The Amazing Spider-Man comic books.

“It’s Peter Parker back in high school just trying to make it work, take care of his aunt, completely broke, and having to be a superhero,” Winderbaum teased. “It’s so essentially Spider-Man. And what Jeff Trammell did, which I think people are going to love, is he built this ensemble of characters around Peter that you fall in love with. Similarly, just because it’s long-form storytelling, as those relationships brew when the stakes rise in that first season, things feel really tragic and dangerous, and pretty incredible. So, I love that show.”

That cast of characters includes Kari Wahlgren (Spidey and His Amazing Friends) as Peter’s Aunt May, Hugh Dancy (Law & Order) as Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus, and Charlie Cox (Daredevil) as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. In addition to Doc Ock, other villains announced to appear in the series include Unicorn, Chameleon, Scorpion, Speed Demon, Tarantula, the Rhino, Butane, and Carmela Black.

When Riri Williams returns in Marvel’s Ironheart series, she’ll be sporting some new armor. Fans got to meet Dominique Thorne’s Ironheart for the first time in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The young genius helped Shuri and the nation of Wakanda in their battle against Namor and Talokan, aka Atlantis. We’ve known Ironheart would star in her own Disney+ series for awhile, and we finally know when Ironheart will debut. Thanks to a new Marvel trailer highlighting all of the Disney+ content coming in 2025, we got a sneak peek at Ironheart, along with the armor Riri will be donning. And from the early look of it, it’s a major improvement from the armors Ironheart has worn in the comics.

Ironheart’s comics origin involves reverse-engineering her own Iron Man armor. Keep in mind she did all this in her tiny dorm room on the campus of M.I.T. After several iterations and tinkering with her suit, Ironheart eventually settles on a slimmed-down version of armor similar to Iron Man. She even moves from the trademark red-and-gold color scheme to something of her own choosing. Something we’ve noticed from Ironheart’s armors in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the Marvel sizzle reel of her upcoming series is how they’ve kept their bulkier frame. And in our opinion, that’s a good thing.

Ironheart’s MCU armor distinguishes her from Iron Man

Let’s take a look back at the different armors we’ve seen from Ironheart during her short tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Similar to her comic origin, Riri Williams has built an Iron Man-esque armor while at school. However, she uses the advanced technology of Wakanda to create the armor we see Ironheart use in the climax of Wakanda Forever. It’s much bulkier and larger than the armor used by Iron Man and War Machine, but in a way that should be expected. Riri should want to have as much protection as possible if she’s going into battle, and she’s less concerned with flexibility and agility.

An example of how quickly Iron Man can soar through the air is the Battle of New York from 2012’s The Avengers. Iron Man zips through the New York City skyline while being chased by Chitauri, and is able to navigate through the wormhole open in the sky. That’s something Ironheart probably isn’t able to do in her current state, but we’re pretty confident in saying Ironheart’s armor could withstand a blast from a Chitauri soldier.

The Marvel trailer reveals Ironheart sticks with the bulkier design, even smashing a car with it in the middle of the street. The choice to go with this armor doesn’t pigeonhole Ironheart as a copy of Iron Man or War Machine. Ironheart isn’t here to replace Tony Stark, but rather be a hero in her own right. Plus, it doesn’t mean that Ironheart is going to stop tinkering and modifying the armor she uses. There could come a point where Ironheart adopts a comics-accurate suit of armor, but for now we like what she’s wearing.

The third round of Collector’s Edition Blu-ray releases for Disney+ shows has been unveiled, and it will include Star Wars and Marvel series The Mandalorian Season 3, Star Wars: Ahoska Season 1, Loki Season 2, and Hawkeye Season 1. What’s more, these will be the first Disney+ series Blu-rays to include Dolby Vision HDR, following Disney’s initial return to the format with Blu-ray releases for Deadpool & Wolverine and Alien: Romulus.

If you’re unfamiliar, Dolby Vision is a technology that can significantly improve the quality of video and provide a more immersive experience with better color, contrast, and brightness. The format is finding wider support on televisions, and it is already supported for streaming on Disney+ itself. All four releases will also feature Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

First revealed by Forbes, pre-orders for all four of the new releases are expected to be available tomorrow, October 31st with shipping slated for December 3rd. The exact timing of the pre-orders is unknown. As with previous releases, the shows will be available in 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray with fancy Steelbook cases and collectible cards with artwork from Attila Szarka. Marvel fans just got their best look yet at Disney+’s upcoming shows — including Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man. On Tuesday, fans who logged into Disney+ and pulled up Marvel content (specifically Agatha All Along), were given a sizzle reel advertising what’s to come for the platform’s Marvel programming including the arrival of Deadpool & Wolverine on the platform on November 12th, the third season of What If…? on December 22nd and their 2025 offerings as well. You can check out the teaser for yourself below.

As was revealed earlier in the day, the teaser confirms that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man arrives January 29th, Daredevil: Born Again on March 4th, Eyes of Wakanda on August 6th, and Marvel Zombies in October 2025 and Wonder Man in December 2025. What is perhaps most interesting about the teaser is that we get what appears to be first footage from Wonder Man, one of the shows that falls under Marvel’s new Marvel Spotlight banner. The Wonder Man footage also seems to confirm what Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has previously said about the series being different from anything they’ve done to date.

“Marvel is The House of Ideas, it’s always been The House of Ideas, and I hope we’ll always be The House of Ideas. Which means, taking new storylines and new characters to new places. Sometimes they’ll hit and sometimes they won’t,” Feige said previously. “When you stop trying is when you atrophy and the whole thing will fall in on itself. I think it’s trying to tell new and unique stories in different ways. We have a show coming up that we’ve talked very little about called Wonder Man, that I won’t talk about much today either except to say it’s extremely different than what we’ve done before.”

Wonder Man stars Yahya Abdul Mateen II as Simon Williams, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Demetrius Gross as Eric Williams, and Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan. Additionally, Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, and Byron Bowers have been cast in undisclosed roles. While we don’t have details about exactly what the Wonder Man series will be about, the footage in the teaser does show us Mateen’s Simon Williams auditioning for the role of Wonder Man with Kingsley’s Slattery telling him at one point that they both have a lot riding on this — and not to mess it up.

The teaser also gives quick looks at Ironheart as well as our best look yet at Daredevil: Born Again with the latter suggesting just how different of a world the upcoming series is compared to what we’ve seen of Daredevil before.

“These characters have matured. The universe is different than it was. Things have changed. Society’s changed. Matt and Wilson have changed and their characters are going to collide in ways we’ve never seen before,” Marvel Television head of streaming Brand Winderbaum said previously. “It’s no longer enough to try to murder each other. There’s a whole game of politics at play.”

At one point the powerhouse group of Zaria, Kelani Jordan, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer were joined by TNA star Jordynne Grace, and then later they were joined by WWE Raw superstar Rhea Ripley. Ripley joked around with them and told them to have a killer match next week, but things took a turn for Ripley later in the episode, as NXT personnel ran to the parking lot to find Ripley attacked and bloody by her car. You can watch what happened in the video here.

A Brutal Attack

A backstage segment was happening with Ava Raine, Stevie Turner, and Robert Stone when referees ran by them towards the parking lot. More personnel joined them running towards the scene as Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan were seen walking away from the car with bats in their hands and looking pretty proud of themselves.

Ripley’s car could be seen and then the officials called for medics, revealing a hurt Ripley slumping over by the car door.. They helped her sit up and she was in rough shape and bleeding. It was a brutal attack from Morgan and Rodriguez, and we are likely to see this addressed next on Monday Night Raw after she gets medical attention.

This is the latest chapter of the Morgan Ripley feud, and right now Morgan and her pals in Judgment Day have been getting some big wins. Not only is Morgan still Champion despite Ripley’s best efforts, but Dominik Mysterio also got a big win recently against Ripley’s old Terror Twins partner Damian Priest. Now they’ve gotten some payback on Ripley as well, so it will be interesting to see what Ripley’s next move will be.

What’s Next

After tonight’s interactions with the NXT locker room, perhaps someone from there might end up helping Ripley out a bit to even the odds. Ripley was also talking to Jordynne Grace, and seeing her join Ripley and mix it up with Morgan and Rodriguez would certainly be a Tag Team match that fans would love to see. We’ll have to wait and see how that shakes out, but I’m just putting that into the universe.

As for the rest of the Women’s Division in NXT, they have a full plate for next week’s NXT 2300 show. Ava announced a 10 Woman Tag Team match for next week that will include Grace, Jordan, Vaquer, Giulia, and Zaria against the opposing team of Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, and Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx. Then Lola Vice and Jaida Parker will possibly have a match of the night contender in a hardcore match, and both have shown they have no issues delivering in big moments, especially when weapons are involved.

After weeks of epic vignettes and an all out assault at NXT Halloween Havoc, Zaria finally made her anticipated WWE in-ring debut during tonight’s episode f NXT. Many assumed it would be a strong showing, but what many didn’t expect was for Zaria to almost break a superstar’s arm in the process. Somehow that was only the beginning of a huge segment, as Zaria was then confronted by Fatal Influence and the NXT Women’s Champion, and that led to Zaria getting reinforcements from a host of big time superstars, as well as the returning TNA star Jordynne Grace.

A Vicious Debut

First up though was Zaria’s in-ring debut, which was against Brinley Reece. Reece was all smiles at the beginning of the match and met Zaria’s energy head-on, but things took a turn when Zaria hyper extended Reece’s elbow. That wasn’t enough for Zaria though, and she then kept pushing against the elbow and threatening to break the arm as Reece yelled in pain (you can watch that here).

That’s when Zaria took it one step further and struck the arm, popping it back into place and causing even more pain in the process. The match was done pretty soon after, with Zaria getting an effective and statement making win in her big debut.

Making Enemies

That’s when Fatal Influence came down through the crowd to address what happened at Halloween Havoc. “Zaria, oh Zaria! Yeah up here. You stole our moment on Sunday, so now we return the favor,” Fallon Henley said. “I don’t care that you’re new here. I don’t care, no one does. You’re going to learn that you don’t mess with Fatal Influence.” Then as they made their way down, Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade came out from backstage from the other side of the ring, saying they didn’t want to step on toes but wanted to welcome and introduce Zaria to the roster.

They all surrounded the ring as Zaria tried to keep them at bay, but Kelani Jordan then raced in and joined her side. The numbers were still off, but that’s when Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer ran in and stood in the ring to make it four against five. Then the final surprise was delivered when TNA star Jordynne Grace hit the ring and joined the group, making it five on five.

After meeting in the ring, all 10 women would start to brawl, ending with Grace and Zaria launching Perez over the ropes to clear out her team on the floor. This all set up an epic battle at NXT 2300, as Ava Raine would reveal 10 woman Tag Team match featuring everyone that was in the brawl, and it should easily be one of the biggest matches of the night.

Those who have been tuning into WWE Raw, SmackDown, and NXT have seen a number of new additions to the roster from the other companies and the independent wrestling world, and WWE is looking to expand and create a true bridge for up and coming wrestlers to find their way to WWE. That will happen courtesy of a new program titled WWE ID, which is short for WWE Independent Development. WWE will provide prominent independent wrestling schools with the WWE ID designation, and looks to provide new trainees and existing talent at these schools with enhanced developmental opportunities.

The first schools to hold the WWE ID designation are Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (Houston), Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory (Atlanta), Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy (Davenport, Iowa), Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center (Concord, N.H.) and KnokX Pro Academy (Los Angeles). WWE has already been featuring its talent with schools like Reality of Wrestling, but now they look to take that partnership even further.

WWE will also identify top independent wrestling prospects with an official WWE ID prospect designation, and will support their development by providing financial opportunity and assisting with training, mentorship, and development. These prospects will also have access to world-class facilities, best-in-class ring training, athletic trainers, and more.

WWE will also be releasing curated behind the scenes content and looks to showcase highlights and big matches of these prospects on social media so that fans can follow along their journeys to their hopeful destination of full-time WWE status.

“WWE ID is the latest in our efforts to identify and support the journey of up-and-coming wrestlers, in turn raising the profile of and strengthening the independent wrestling ecosystem,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Triple H expanded on that in a post on X, writing, “The level of talent on the independent scene is incredible. They’re grinding away to make their dream a reality, and I’m excited for WWE to be on the forefront of supporting their journeys. @WWEID is here to help identify, support and build the next generation of WWE Superstars.”

WWE has brought in a number of talents recently who have experience in other companies and the independent scene. That includes Zaria, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, and the Motor City Machine Guns, and that’s just over the past few months. That’s in addition to the prospects brought in from outside the world of wrestling, and many of those have and continue to have an impact in NXT, SmackDown, and Raw as we speak.

The Simpsons are gearing up for a full Monday Night Football takeover with the NFL, and Homer Simpson is finally going to live out his greatest dream of sharing the field with the Dallas Cowboys. The Simpsons will be officially turning 35 years old later this year, and it’s really going all out for the occasion. Not only will there be a brand new, exclusive Christmas special releasing on Disney+ this December, but The Simpsons is also teaming up with the NFL for a cool new take on Monday Night Football. Dubbed Funday Football, The Simpsons will be interacting with an upcoming game entirely live through special technology.

As a special collaboration between Disney, ESPN, The Simpsons and the National Football League, The Simpsons Funday Football will be premiering on Monday, December 9th. Using Sony’s Beyond Sports Technology, this will be an animated version of the Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys taking place within Atoms Stadium in Springfield. Which means, Homer will finally own the Dallas Cowboys as he once wished in one of the most famous episodes in the entire series, “You Only Move Twice.”

The Simpsons’ Monday Night Football Takeover

While the traditional Monday Night Football telecast will be available on ESPN, ABC and ESPN Deportes with Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli on ESPN2 on December 9th, The Simpsons Funday Football will be streaming exclusively with Disney+, ESPN+ and NFL+ beginning on Monday, December 9th at 8:00PM EST. During the game, Homer will be representing the Dallas Cowboys and Bart will be representing the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s teased that along with the animation tracking the live plays, Homer and Bart will be able to jump in at special times to actually play in the game themselves. They won’t be the only characters involved with all of this either.

Marge and Lisa will be interviewing players during the game while Maggie flies the SkyCam. Cast members Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner and Yeardley Smith will be voicing their respective characters in pre-recorded bits and skits throughout the game as well. There will also be special intros and outros for the game with special other animated scenes teased throughout for many of the characters and players involved with the coming game. So for fans who want a little more of The Simpsons in their football, this is going to be the best way to actually make it all happen.

What Is Homer’s Greatest Dream?

Homer’s favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys. Although he’s had dream sequences where he’s been John Elway, and he’s actively wanted the Cowboys to lose, on more than one occasion he’s been revealed to be a Cowboys fan. It was then revealed in the Season 8 classic, “You Only Move Twice” that his greatest dream was to actually own the Dallas Cowboys. Then it comes full circle as the episode comes to an end where his former boss and supervillain Hank Scorpio gifts him the Denver Broncos, much to his disappointment.

He also wears a signed hat from famous Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry throughout the episode too to further drive his fandom home, and it remains one of the funniest details about his character. Now it’s coming full circle as he’s going to be playing alongside the Dallas Cowboys in a very real game, and has a chance of winning with his dream team before it’s all over. It’s just one of the many reasons to tune into the upcoming The Simpsons Funday Football broadcast later this December when it hits Disney+.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has been marketed as an Amblin-style story about a group of young people from a galaxy far, far, away who go on a galactic adventure with a rascally traveler named Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law). However, recent promotional photos from Skeleton Crew have confirmed that the Sith will have a presence in the show – just not in the way that most Star Wars fans might expect!

As you can see in the photo above, Jod Na Nawood is checking out a strange alien language inscription on the wall of whatever locale he’s standing at. It didn’t take Star Wars fans long to discern that this wasn’t just any random language on the wall – it’s “ur-Kittât,” aka the “Old Tongue” language of the Sith!

ur-Kittât was only spoken within the Sith Order, as well as within the Sith Eternal cult formed by Darth Sidious. When it was written, it was written in runic language form like what we see in the photo. It’s a delicious teaser, then, as Jod Na Nawood’s body language and pose make it ambiguous as to whether he is looking at something incomprehensible – or perhaps reading a language that no one should know.

Skeleton Crew has only described Jude Law’s character as a “Force-user,” which leaves a lot of room for twists and surprises when it comes to which way he leans with that use of the Force – where he may have once received training, and what’s become of him since. The story of a reformed Sith lord would be an interesting detour for Star Wars take – since all the darksiders who find redemption (Anakin Skywalker, Ben Solo) die fairly quickly afterward.

Synopsis: When four kids make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, they get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, and meeting unlikely allies and enemies will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew stars Jude Law (Captain Marvel, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) as the human Force-user Jod Na Nawood, the adult leader of a motley crew of galaxy-faring kids that includes Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), KB (Kyriana Kratter), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), and Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong). In addition, Jaleel White (Family Matters), will play a space pirate named Gunter, while The Mandalorian’s pirate character Vane (Marti Matulis) will also appear in the show, as will other pirate characters like  Brutus (Frank Tatasciore, performance artist: Stephan Oyoung), Pax (performance artist: Mike Estes), and Chaelt (Dale Soules).

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew debuts Tuesday, December 3rd on Disney+.

Dragon Ball is blowing fans’ minds right now, as a piece of promo art for the series is making fans look back at Dragon Ball GT in a whole new light. The piece of artwork in question is a picture separated into eight panels, each highlighting a Dragon Ball Z character – Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan, Android 18, Videl, and her dad Mr. Satan. The detail that has fans buzzing is the picture of Gohan: he’s wearing his famous “Mr. Saiyaman” superhero costume, and we can clearly see that the bandana wrapped around his head is the same orange color as his dad Goku’s gi – and the same orange bandana that Gohan’s daughter Pan would go on to wear during her adventures in Dragon Ball GT!

The reason that this small detail is being treated like a big deal is that it bucks the common assumption that Dragon Ball GT and its non-canon events were a flagrant departure from the level of deep mythos that Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama had created. It’s also a big revelation as the Dragon Ball Z anime series cemented the iconography of The Great Saiyaman wearing a white bandana when he wasn’t wearing his crazy helmet with its visor and bug-like antenna. To see artwork from Akira Toriyama’s manga designs and realize that there’s a deeper story being told through one small object… it hits different now that Toriyama is dead, and the theme of “legacy” takes on a whole new meaning in Dragon Ball.

What Is Dragon Ball GT?

In Dragon Ball GT, “Emperor Pilaf finally has his hands on the Black Star Dragon Balls after years of searching, which are said to be twice as powerful as Earth’s normal ones. Pilaf is about to make his wish for world domination when he is interrupted by Goku. As a result, Pilaf flubs his wish and accidentally turns Goku back into a child.

After the wish is granted, the Black Star Dragon Balls scatter across the galaxy. However, Gokuu discovers that they will cause the Earth to explode unless they are all brought back within a year. Uniting with his granddaughter Pan and a young adult Trunks, Goku sets off on an adventure through the universe to find the Black Star Dragon Balls and save his planet from destruction.“

Dragon Ball GT is set as a sequel series to Dragon Ball Z and takes place after that series ends (whereas Dragon Ball Super takes place before the time-jump epilogue of DBZ). The non-canon status of the series has been debated for years. However, details like seeing Gohan’s daughter Pan carry the legacy of her father’s heroism by donning his bandana makes that non-canon status seem even more odd. That’s especially true now that Dragon Ball has launched its latest anime, Dragon Ball Daima, which has similar DNA to GT, with Goku and co. being transformed into children while on the hunt for a new type of Dragon Balls.

When it comes to television, it takes more than miracles to succeed. Technology has made the entertainment world more competitive than ever as everything from streaming to globalization ups the ante. Still, we have been given some homegrown successes like Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. The show made its debut in 2015, and its anime-inspired adventure has a cult fandom of its own. So really, it is no surprise to hear that Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is gunning for 10 whole seasons.

If a new report is right, then the creator of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is very ready to expand the series. Popular fan-sites say Zag shared his vision for the show’s future during a recent appearance in France. Should those reports ring true, then Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is looking to release 10 seasons at the time, and that is quite the loaded number.

Miraculous Is Reportedly Eyeing a 10 Season Run

After all, the TV series has just five seasons to its name. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir brought season five to a close in November 2023, and Zagtoon is hard at work on season six. In the past year, we have been shown teasers for season six, but Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir has kept details about the comeback quiet. According to current rumors, the show’s sixth season is not expected to drop until early 2025, but that is far from official.

With just five seasons to its name, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is banking on the future. Zag envisions the show to double in size in the coming years, after all. The confession has also left fans wondering where the show’s characters are heading. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir spent its first seasons with Hawk Moth, and the villain has grown tremendously. By season four, Hawk Moth traded in his moniker for Monarch, and it was only recent that his reign ended.

Of course, the Butterfly Miraculous is far from done. Lila Rossi has taken hold of the gem, and that cannot spell anything good for our heroine Marinette. The two girls have bad blood between them, so Ladybug and Cat Noir better not get too comfy with their current peace. If we have five more seasons on the horizon, some serious drama is coming with it.

When Will Miraculous Bring Season 6 to Television?

There is no telling whether Zag’s vision for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir will play out in the long term. What fans can do right now is keep tabs on the series. We are still awaiting word on the release of season six. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir began production on the season while season five was closing shop. As noted earlier, rumors suggest Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir will return with season six in early 2025, but no release date has been formally shared.

The latter service even has access to Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie which explores the franchise’s origins. And if we are lucky, we will not have to wait long for its sixth season to drop.

Teri Garr, the Academy Award-nominated actress and singer behind iconic roles in movies like Young Frankenstein and Tootsie, has died. She was 79 years old. Garr passed away due to complications from multiple sclerosis after a long fight with the disease, according to Variety, who first reported the news.

Garr has been working in Hollywood since the 1960s, appearing in uncredited roles in Elvis Presley movies and an episode of Batman. Over time, her roles started to grow a little, with minor appearances in shows like The Andy Griffith Show, That Girl, and Star Trek. Her first significant role as in Head, a movie featuring The Monkees. Ironically, right after that she would head back to Mayberry for a brief role in Mayberry R.F.D.

Within a few years, Garr became a recurring guest on The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, and that visibility led her to a new round of appearances on hit shows like M*A*S*H, The Odd Couple, The Bob Newhart Show, and Barnaby Jones.

The first role that most contemporary audiences would likely remember her for was that of Inga in Young Frankenstein. The 1974 movie has become a comedy staple, cementing her legacy almost as much as Tootsie, the movie for which she earned her Oscar nomination.

In between those movies, she appeared in episodes of McCloud and Maude, and then recurred on The Sonny and Cher Show, continuing her long relationship with the celebrity couple.

Beginning in the late 1970s, Garr’s star rose further, playing key roles in hits like Oh, God! and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. She combined mainstream hits like The Black Stallion and The Sting II with appearances on iconic TV shows like Saturday Night Live and Shelley Duvall’s Faerie Tale Theatre.

In the 1980s, Garr went on to star opposite Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie, and opposite Michael Keaton in Mr. Mom. She had a small role in the music video for Ray Parker, Jr.’s mega-hit “Ghostbusters” song, and showed up in After Hours, on Sesame Street, and in a number of smaller roles in film and TV.

Garr’s diverse career gave her chances to star in serious dramas, loopy comedies, kids’ shows, and everything n between. In the 1990s, she went from Mother Goose Rock ‘n’ Rhyme to Tales From the Crypt to playing herself in The Player within two years. By the middle of the decade, she was a proper comedy icon, appearing in things like Dumb and Dumber, Frasier, The Weird Al Show, and Friends (in which she played Phoebe Abbott Sr).

More than 30 years after her brief appearance in the 1960s Batman, Garr returned to the DC Universe to play Mary McGinniss in Batman Beyond: The Movie, then reprised the role on the TV show and in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

Garr was diagnosed with MS in 1999, and her work slowed down in the 2000s. She made a final comic book movie appearance in Ghost World, did some voice acting in a couple of different takes on Scooby-Doo!, and scored roles in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Unaccompanied Minors. Her last credited work was in 2011’s How To Marry a Billionaire.

Hiro Mashima is impossibly talented. From Rave Master to Edens Zero, the artist has pushed forward a number of hit manga. The industry is a tough one, and for most people, it is enough to put out one hit let alone three. There are still people that look to Fairy Tail as one of shonen’s best series. And in a new interview, Mashima admitted the uplifting manga was born from a surprising place: loneliness.

Recently, Mashima shared this revelation with fans as he appeared at New York Comic Con. It was there the Fairy Tail creator spoke with fans at a panel, and when asked about the manga’s origins, Mashima said Fairy Tail came from a pervasive loneliness.

“To tell you the truth, I wrote the story cause I had no friends. My loneliness is what you’re seeing,” the artist shared. According to ANN, fans were quick to offer their friendship to Mashima after this reveal. Luckily, the artist has since surrounded himself by a supportive friend group, but Fairy Tail might not have happened if Mashima had not navigated that dark time.

Fairy Tail Was Born From a Lonely Place

Later in the panel, Mashima admitted he also dealt with loneliness in high school as he struggled to fit in. It was art and manga that helped him find a home. “It’s helped me get through a lot of my struggles in high school and helped me connect with my friends on a deeper level,” he explained.

Of course, Mashima would go on and turn his love of art into a career. The creator made waves in 1999 with Rave Master as the series ran through 2005. From there, Fairy Tail made its debut in 2006, and it would change Mashima’s life. While Rave Master was a definite hit, Fairy Tail become a global success. The manga’s anime converted fans across the world, and Fairy Tail is still ongoing. After its main series ended, Mashima helped bring its sequel Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest to life. And since we met Natsu, Mashima has also expanded his reach with IPs like Edens Zero and Dead Rock.

Starting with Rave Master, Mashima’s works have all focused on friendship, so we know now why Fairy Tail really leaned into the idea. Mashima was facing a lonely time in his life when the manga was birthed. Lucy not only finds friends through her journey but family as well. Time and again, the power of friendship pushes the celestial mage to new heights, and Natsu will do whatever it takes to protect those closest to him.

Fairy Tail Brings a New Meaning to the Power of Friendship

In fact, Fairy Tail and its friendships have become a meme with fans. Natsu relies on his allies in a big way, and much like we saw in Naruto, the Fairy Tail star thrives when he leans into his bonds. The power of friendship may sound cheesy, but Mashima’s hit series does embody it. Readers have joked about that phenomenon for ages, but Mashima’s latest confession is reframing the true power of friendship.

Yes, it is an easy way to explain a power boost, but it is also a means of salvation. Natsu saved Mashima when he was at his loneliest, and we see this trend echoed in the manga itself. Fairy Tail is so focused on friends and family because that is what Mashima craved when he inked it years ago. As Mashima’s own circle expanded, Fairy Tail was able to grow just the same, so there is no denying how personal the manga is to its creator.

These days, Mashima seems to be in a better place. Fairy Tail lives on with its sequel, and he is rolling out new hits. Edens Zero stood as one of Kodansha’s top sci-fi series upon its 2018 debut. Now, all eyes are on Dead Rock. The supernatural tale debuted in 2023, and with two volumes under foot, Dead Rock is shaping up to be another Mashima hit.

When it comes to anime, fans expect their fave series to meet certain expectations. Sports titles are expected to invest heavily in animation as they feature high-octane action. From Slam Dunk to Haikyu, we have seen this investment pay off, and Blue Lock season one followed that method. However, that plot was lost somewhere during the production of Blue Lock season two, and an animator is now speaking out about the horrific misstep.

Taking to social media, Martin Reyes wants to set the record straight about Blue Lock. The animator worked on the anime’s second season, and his behind-the-scenes breakdown of the series is damning. According to Reyes, he was originally set to work on five episodes of Blue Lock season two, but he dipped after animating parts of episode two because of the show’s impossible schedule.

What Happened to Blue Lock Season 2?

“I worked on the second episode of Blue Lock, and I can tell you why it’s animation is so bad. Months ago, I started working on Blue Lock season two where I worked not only on one episode… not even two or three but rather five episodes. I began working on episode two and had to do 20 cuts from start to finish,” Reyes explains.

“Strangely, problems [with Blue Lock] hadn’t arose yet. I’m sure I am not alone in this, but the work I did ended up not being released. Despite the low pay and short turn around, we did the best we could. Many of my animations were [cut] in the final edit; Basically, all their movement was eliminated. I don’t blame the person who worked on my cuts after me; They probably did all they could with the time they were given.”

Continuing, the animator went on to place blame on the production committee that oversees Blue Lock for how bad season two looks. “These problems…are a result of certain production committees. They take on projects with profit in mind but don’t care about the condition their workers face. It’s because of this that I did not work on more Blue Lock episodes. Once I finished working on episode two, I decided to leave, and the final result ended up a disaster as I expected. I am not able to feel proud of the work that was uploaded.”

As you can see above, Reyes went so far as to post one of his original cuts from Blue Lock season two. The clip is unfinished as the animator was tasked with layout work, but there is a world of difference already. In Reyes’ cut, there is actual running animation, and we are shown lots of dynamic action. When Blue Lock season two brought episode two to life, well – the animation was stiff to put lightly. Its characters were lucky if their feet moved at all while running, so clearly, something got lost in translation as BBlue Lock continued production.

Can Blue Lock Season 3 Redeem the Anime?

According to Reyes, the crux of the issue behind Blue Lock season two falls on executives. The animation team was not given enough time to make season two look as good as season one. While Reyes managed to turn around a well-animated layout, the show’s other animation teams could not see the vision through. Corners were cut by designers and colorists and animators in latter stages. This did not happen out of laziness but rather intense time crunch. Reyes says the downfall of Blue Lock could have been avoided with better production scheduling, but the show’s committee did not care to intervene.

As you can imagine, fans of Blue Lock are incredibly disappointed with season two. The show’s first season was a hit, and its popularity gave the Kodansha manga a massive sales boost. Creators Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura are still piecing out the manga, but their work now has a shadow to contend with. Blue Lock season two is being hailed as one of the worst unseatings in anime. And if the anime gets a season three order, the production committee better reevaluate its deadlines or face further humiliation.

We’ve got a better idea of when a host of Marvel shows will make their debut on Disney+. A new listing by Disney includes release dates and timeframes for several Marvel shows, including Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, and Wonder Man. We’ve already seen reports of when the Spider-Man animated series will premiere on Disney+, though that was quickly debunked. If this new listing is accurate, can expect Spidey to swing onto Disney+ in the beginning of 2025. Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be joined by two more animated series, Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies, as well as the live-action Wonder Man.

The following is the reported release schedule for Marvel shows on Disney+ (via Nexus Point News): Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (January 29, 2025), Eyes of Wakanda (August 6, 2025), Marvel Zombies (October 2025), and Wonder Man (December 2025).

The March 4, 2025 release date for Daredevil: Born Again was already confirmed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and we know Ironheart is scheduled for a 2025 release. The dates for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda are new, as well as the release windows for Marvel Zombies and Wonder Man.

Marvel reveals logos for Eyes of Wakanda and Wonder Man

The release dates aren’t the only new information we got from Marvel. The studio also unveiled logos for Eyes of Wakanda and Wonder Man. Eyes of Wakanda is described as a four-part animated anthology series that follows warriors throughout Wakandan history who are tasked with traveling the world to retrieve Vibranium artifacts. According to Marvel’s head of streaming television, Brad Winderbaum, it’s the Marvel Animation series most tied to the MCU.

“Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show we’re doing in animation, ties directly into the MCU,” Winderbaum told Marvel’s Official Podcast. “This is a story about Wakandan history. It’s produced by Ryan Coogler and directed by Todd Harris, who is one of our longtime storyboard artists who I first met when he designed the Hulk vs. Thor fight in [Thor] Ragnarok.”

“It’s an awesome show. The action is insane and the storytelling is fantastic. It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods,” Winderbaum continued. “If you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat.”

Wonder Man is one of the shows that falls under the new Marvel Spotlight banner. These shows are less connected to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe, to allow a more general audience to be able to tune in without having to know so much background information. Echo was the first foray into the Marvel Spotlight banner, with Wonder Man carrying the torch.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star as the titular Wonder Man, and Kevin Feige recently teased how different Wonder Man will be from the previous series they’ve done.

“Marvel is The House of Ideas, it’s always been The House of Ideas, and I hope we’ll always be the House of Ideas. Which means, taking new storylines and new characters to new places. Sometimes they’ll hit and sometimes they won’t,” Feige told The Official Marvel Podcast. “When you stop trying is when you atrophy and the whole thing will fall in on itself. I think it’s trying to tell new and unique stories in different ways. We have a show coming up that we’ve talked very little about called Wonder Man, that I won’t talk about much today either except to say it’s extremely different than what we’ve done before.”

What’s Wednesday Season 2 about?

Little has been unveiled about the sophomore outing for Wednesday, although Ortega admits she was initially “terrified” to return to the show.

“I was a little terrified just because it had been years since Wednesday, since we shot the first one. We did that like two or three years ago in Romania,” Ortega said on the Tonight Show earlier this month. “So, I didn’t really know how I… I just was, I think, overthinking it.  But as soon as you put on the costumes by Colleen Atwood, you get hair and makeup done, and then you take all the expression out of your face, it’s like, ‘Oh, okay. I kind of, I know how to do this. Yeah. Yeah.’”

“I get to decide like how blue somebody’s gonna be, or where the brains go on the floor, what prosthetics look like,” she added of her new producer role. “It’s so exciting. It’s so much fun, actually.”

Wednesday Season Two is expected to be released on Netflix at some point in 2025. The first season of the show is now available to stream on the service. Bob’s Burgers is definitely a major animated mainstay as it’s now in the midst of Season 15 of its run, and its Halloween episodes are some of the best specials you’ll ever get to see. The spooky Halloween season is the time where animation fans like to revisit their favorite specials, but Bob’s Burgers really is a step above its counterparts in that regard. Rather than offering separate stories every year like The Simpsons, or only doing a few Halloween related episodes through its tenure like Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers has been steadily offering Halloween flavored episodes with each season for the last few years.

Including the latest season of the series, there have been 13 Halloween episodes released for Bob’s Burgers thus far and each of them is a banger. No matter which episode you decide to go back and check out for the Halloween holiday, you’re pretty much guaranteed a great time. Each of Bob’s Burgers‘ Halloween episodes offers a different experience as they focus on different aspects of the Belcher family, but here are a few suggestions of the ones to watch first if you’re seeking out some family friendly but spooky fun.

Fraud of the Dead: Zombie-docu-pocalypse

Season 14’s “Fraud of the Dead: Zombie-doc-pocalypse” is one of the latest examples of how Bob’s Burgers creative team is perfect at finding the balance between its horror elements, comedy, and the emotional ties that make the Belcher family so appealing after all these years. This episode is within the “documentary” lens of Louise Belcher, a nine year old skilled archer during a zombie invasion. It’s clear that the entire family and their friends are involved with making this movie, but it’s played mostly straight to make the movie happen.

There are a few breaks in character here and there, but its focus on Louise really shines when she’s challenged to be that pro archer she’s been saying she is. She’d been saying she was able to pull off a super cool move, but only had edited video footage that made it look like she did. With Louise being challenged to actually pull off her archery trick, it’s yet another great look into the heart of what makes Bob’s Burgers work. It’s an emotional story of Louise overcoming her faults, a fun episode showing how the entire Belcher family supports one another, and a spooky episode full of zombies.

Fort Night

Season 4’s “Fort Night” wasn’t the first Bob’s Burgers Halloween focused episode, but it was certainly the one that made the biggest mark early on and teased what the series would focus on later. “Fort Night” is another perfect example of blending horror and comedy, with the actual tension really being palpable as Millie traps Louise and the rest of the gang within their fort on Halloween night. Their lives are then put in some very real danger as they’re nearly crushed by a truck, and it makes for a memorable outing for the Belcher kids.

During all of this, Bob and Linda also have a great side story. Busy making the kids’ costume, they end up wearing it themselves when the kids don’t come home in time for trick or treating. It leads to a hilarious moment between the two of them as they end up getting quite a bit of candy while out and about, and got more than their kids did that night. Bob and Linda love their kids, but this is also a hilarious showcase of their own personal limits with them too. It’s just a well rounded experience.

Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street

Some of the best Bob’s Burgers Halloween episodes feature the Belcher kids going out trick or treating, and there’s no better example than Season 9’s “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street.” This episode features some of the best trademarks we’d see in later specials such as the kids’ fun ideas for costumes, and Bob having a great restaurant focused story. This time around the rest of the friend group gets involved as well, and thus the kids’ dynamic with one another is super fun to watch.

This special is lighter on the overall Horror vibe that the others on this list, and thus it makes it an even more intriguing watch if you want the spooky fun without any of the actual danger. This one has the kids dealing with some stealing all of their candy, and ends up just being a fun self-contained adventure. All the while, Bob and Teddy are having a friendly rivalry with a handyman next door. Just a fun watch all around.

The Wolf of Wharf Street

Season 8’s “The Wolf of Wharf Street” is another great combination of the Belcher family sticking together for an adventure, trick or treating, and something fun with Bob on the side. With reports of a dangerous wolf on the loose, Halloween just isn’t the same and mostly everyone decides to stay inside. Wanting to make the day still special for her kids, Linda decides to take them on a hunt for the wolf itself. The foggy setting and overall chills make this a great outing perfect for the spooky season, and then there’s Bob’s story to make it even funnier.

While all of this is happening to Linda and the kids, Bob’s dealing with an injury. Teddy is hanging out with him to take care of him, and Bob starts to suspect Teddy’s a werewolf. Constantly taking paid meds to make himself loopy, he starts to worry that Teddy is actually a monster and it all soon crosses over together into a satisfying finale. It’s just a fun episode for the series overall, with or without the Halloween holiday.

The Hauntening

But if you want a little more horror and heart with your Bob’s Burgers, there’s no better episode to watch than with Season 6’s “The Hauntening.” This episode actually has quite a bit of terror as after Bob and Linda try to scare the kids with a haunted house, it turns out that there’s something much more sinister going on as creepy things start happening. A hooded figure pops up out of the woodwork to threaten them, and the Belcher family try their best to live.

It’s one of the few specials in the show’s history to really hone in on the horror of the holiday, but it also never quite crosses a line as the Belcher family are even more hilarious when scared. But it also ends in such a cute way that reminds fans that the Belcher family is always thinking about one another, and will go the extra mile just to make a member of their family happy. It’s sweet, and a perfect way to cap off the spooky season.

There are just two episodes left of Marvel’s Agatha All Along and as we come to the end of The Witches’ Road, it’s hard not to notice that there’s something just a little unusual about it. We’re not talking the witchiness of it all. This is, after all, a magical path so a little bit of witchy strangeness is expected. No, the oddness in question here has more to do with fine details and the trials and, specifically, how they all seem to tie back to Billy. The deeper we get on the journey (and now that we’ve gotten a glimpse into Billy’s life as William Kaplan), the more we notice that The Witches’ Road and its trials seems to reflect Billy’s tastes and preferences and it’s making us wonder: is the road real at all or could this all be part of some new elaborate Westview hex that Wanda Maximoff’s son doesn’t know he’s creating in the first place?

Now, even from the beginning Agatha Harkness’ experience with the Road has been suspect — we’ve theorized that she’s lying about having done it. After all, her being the only known survivor pretty much makes it easy for her to just assert her success because no one is there to challenge her, but when we really look at how the coven came together and got this whole party started — particularly just how involved in the whole process Billy actually was — it seems more like the reality of the Road has always been in question. Each of the other witches knew of the Road, but thought it was a myth — Alice and Agatha both even said so — but it’s Billy who convinces them it’s real and they should walk it.  More than that, when the coven tries to open the road, they don’t seem to have much luck but it’s when Billy is in danger that things really pop off and he’s the first to head down the path and onto it. He also seems to know the most about the road and while we’ve been shown how obsessive he is in his research as it is linked to his identity, to know that much about the Road seems unusual.

The Case for The Witches’ Road Being a Hex

The real “clues” that the Road could be something of Billy’s creation comes in when you closely look at the trials and how each one seems to line up with aspects of Billy’s interests and tastes. While each trial is focused on a different witch, they all seem to have some influence from Billy. The first trial lines up with Jen’s brand aesthetic, which is something that we saw in the flashback to Billy’s life as William Kaplan that Billy admired and was interested in. The second trial is centered around Lorna Wu and her Ballad, but the flashback also revealed that Billy is a bit of a Lorna Wu superfan who had her records and was apparently pretty regularly spinning them, particularly Lorna’s Ballad. The third trial is 80s horror film themed and, again, in the flashback, we are shown that Billy is a horror fan. Then, the most recent trial, the 4th, features fictional witches — notably Maleficent and both the Wicked Witch and Glinda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz.

You already know where we’re going with this: Billy has depictions of The Wizard of Oz and its witches in his bedroom. But it isn’t just the aesthetics of each trial that are very Billy-coded. Billy also seems to have some sort of innate mastery of each trial. He’s the person who figures out what they need to do each time and he’s also the one who is more or less always solving them in some fashion. That isn’t to say that each trial isn’t truly for the different members of the coven, but Billy seems to be very connected to each one in some fashion. Deviating from the trials, the Road also doesn’t seem to really conform to any real rules. There were no actual consequences for Lilia and Jen when they were tossed off of it. Rio came onto the road by being summoned, which doesn’t appear to be how one is supposed to access The Witches’ Road at all, and perhaps even more curious is that Jen spotted an exit: the unfinished transit system underneath Westview. For a Road that is supposed to be an all-encompassing journey once you embark on it, having an exit seems odd, but it does seem like something that might exist if the Road is actually a spell. Maybe Billy wanted there to be an “out” if things reached a certain point.

Does Billy Know It’s a Hex?

With so many elements of The Witches’ Road being very Billy-coded and connected to him in some way, it’s hard to not to wonder is the whole thing is a creation of his own magic that he’s not really aware he’s creating. It is possible that there is a real Witches’ Road that the myths and stories came from, but this one may be a hex, something created out of Billy’s own need. Agatha even tells Billy he’s so much like his mother and we know that it’s Wanda’s unwitting creation of a sitcom world for herself that led to all of this in the first place. It isn’t a stretch to consider that Billy, experiencing his own heightened emotions and having a desperate need for answers about himself and his brother, Tommy, may have accidentally willed this version of the Road into reality. He may even very well believe this this is all real; after all, Billy doesn’t really know how to use his powers. It’s an element that makes this all the more interesting. It is also worth noting that being able to create his own Witches’ Road is something that is very. much in the scope of his abilities. One of Billy’s powers in comics is reality warping — which really is a like mother, like son situation.

If the Road really is a manifestation of Billy’s magic, there are a lot of implications. First, it makes the deaths of Mrs. Hart, Alice, and even Lilia more profound and even more heartbreaking. It also would tie into the conversation between Agatha and Billy about witches being willing to kill other witches for their own goals — something Billy said he wouldn’t do but now seems less likely. It also makes one question what will happen when we get to the end of the Road. When Wanda was faced with the reality of what she was really doing with the hex, it was devastating. If we get to the end of the Road and realize this was all Billy’s creation, it could be devastating for him as well and there’s no way of knowing how he would react to that. It could also, however, work into another theory that we’ve floated previously about Agatha All Along being a redemption story for the titular witch. If it turns out that this Road really is a hex that Billy has created, Agatha has an opportunity to do the right thing and help guide Billy, rather than antagonize her the way she did Wanda. It opens up a chance for Agatha to be better, which could end up being where this whole path has been headed the whole time.

King of the Hill is in the works on coming back with a brand new revival series, and quite a lot has been revealed ahead of its release. It was first announced back in 2022 that series creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels were in the works on bringing back King of the Hill, and in 2023 it was confirmed to be in production for a release with Hulu. Following the streaming service reviving animated classics such as The Animaniacs and Futurama, King of the Hill is the next major animated series that’s coming back with a new crop of episodes for its new era.

King of the Hill is currently working on a new series that will be bringing back as much of the original voice cast as possible, but is going to be making some dramatic changes from what was seen in the original. There will be new characters, characters who will likely either be recast or removed, and other changes teased through interviews with the staff over the last couple of years of development. As we’re closer than ever to seeing the new King of the Hill in action, it’s time to collect everything that’s been revealed about the new series thus far.

King of the Hill’s Revival Is Bringing Back the Original Cast

Confirmed with the initial announcement of the revival series, the new King of the Hill series will bring back original series creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. Saladin Patterson will be serving as the showrunner, and Kathy Najimy, Stephen Root, Pamela Adlon, and Lauren Tom have been confirmed to return. It’s yet to be revealed what other characters each of these actors might be returning to, but the core cast is set. Johnny Hardwick, who voiced Dale Gribble in the original series, unfortunately passed away mid-production.

It was previously reported by TVLine that Hardwick was able to record at least “a couple” of the planned episodes before his passing, but it has yet to be confirmed as of the time of this publication. As a result of this shift, it has also yet to be revealed how King of the Hill will be moving forward in this situation as Dale plays a significant role in the original series. They might retire the character, or more likely recast given that the character itself is such a big part of the core fiber of King of the Hill’s original run. It’s the same case for two other significant members of the core cast as well.

Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty, who performed for Luanne and Lucky respectively, have since passed away in the years since the original King of the Hill’s airing. These two characters were also built into the core dynamic of the original series, and their absence will likely be felt. It’s yet to be revealed if either of their characters are going to be recast, but they will likely be some of the characters ripe for shuffling around due to the big time skip coming in the new series.

King of the Hill’s Revival Takes Place Nearly a Decade Later

In an interview with Movieweb, Pamela Adlon had revealed Bobby Hill in the revival is now 21 years old and working as a chef in Dallas. This was further confirmed with the first look at the design for the now-adult Bobby Hill spotted online, and thus confirms that it’s been nearly a decade since the events of the original series. Bobby was still 12 when that first run came to an end, and if he’s now an adult and moving on with his career, every other character has also been aged up that time to help compensate.

This will be the best way the new King of the Hill series can address some of the character involvement issues. It’s a good way to write out Luanne and Lucky, and perhaps introduce several new characters to help fill in the gaps. Bobby working outside of the home also opens it up to new people in his environment as well, and the slate is opened with this time jump. It’s going to lead to a big shuffle of the main characters at the center of the series, and open it up to a new generation of stories outside of the Arlen setting.

As for Bobby’s future career, this is the first bit of concrete information as to how the characters are going to be updated. Bobby is working as a robata chef in a restaurant, and thus has pursued cooking (over comedy) as his full career. This stems from the final episode of the series that saw Bobby truly falling in love with barbecue, but his robata cooking style will likely lead to a rift with Hank himself as it’s a style that primarily uses charcoal. Which, of course, is something Hank really hates with a passion.

When Does King of the Hill Revival Premiere?

As for when King of the Hill will be premiering its new episodes on Hulu, it should be fairly soon. Stephen Root (who voices Bill Dauterive and others in the series) teased that table readings were beginning for the series last April, and Adlon (in that same interview where she mentioned Bobby’s age) had noted that the team was already in the works on the second season of episodes. Production for the new revival has been fully underway ever since, so it’s likely that we’re getting a King of the Hill return some time in 2025.

King of the Hill series co-creator Greg Daniels noted that the team had been working on the new series ahead WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, and they “had table-read two episodes, and it was a lot of fun and everybody was very excited, and then we all went on strike.” Explaining last Fall that following the strike the team was then “rewriting the third episode or the fourth episode and getting notes on the first episode. Yeah, it’s chugging along” at the time when asked about the production’s progress.

Daniels had estimated that the new series would be released in “early 2025,” and a Spring 2025 release window would make a lot of sense. It’s yet to be revealed when Futurama Season 13 premieres, and if production continues at its current pace, Hulu could be treating fans to King of the Hill in the Spring and Futurama in the Summer. Or maybe even a reverse with Futurama, then King of the Hill shortly after. Either way, it’s likely not going to be too much longer before we get to see how King of the Hill comes back.

The animated films have centered around Mile Morales/Spider-Man (Shamiek Moore), a character that Marvel fans have wanted to see get a live-action adaptation. Given the multiverse story elements of the Spider-Verse films, a big theory has been that the trilogy will end with Miles and other select characters getting either merged with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (currently in its own Multiverse Saga storyline) or have their respective universes explored in more depth through live-action spinoffs like Spider-Noir. Every franchise universe needs some kind of culminating event, and once the Spider-Verse characters start getting live-action adaptations, it seems inevitable that we see the full scope of the animated films – the fantastical stories and spider-character ensembles – realized in live-action, as well.

What’s fun about Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is that a live-action Spider-Verse crossover doesn’t have to happen on the scale of a blockbuster movie – it could be a TV event that runs through whatever shows Sony (along with Amazon/MGM) gets off the ground. If Sony wants to go big, then TV-level characters like Spider-Man Noir could be brought up to the theatrical movie level to be featured alongside movie marquee characters like Spider-Man or Venom. There are several ways to make Spider-Man TV and movie content feel more in synch in terms of quality and relevance, and establish some new character IPs along the way.

First things first: however: Spider-Noir needs to be a successful TV series for this next era of Sony Spider-Man Universe to have legs. So far, the movies have burned through one trilogy (Venom) and several character launches (Miles Morales, Morbius, Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter) without actually converging into an actual shared universe – and without connecting back to any of the live-action Spider-Man films that have come before. In the sequel film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse it was established that the multiversal Spider-Society has eyes on the MCU, which could vastly expand the scope (and hype) of what it means to have a live-action Spider-Verse crossover. If three Spider-Men can swing Spider-Man: No Way Home to a billion-dollar box office, imagine what a Spider-Man MCU movie with live-action Spider-Verse characters (like Nic Cage’s Spider-Man Noir) would be able to achieve as an event film?

At the rate things are going, a live-action Spider-Verse film might actually be quicker and easier to complete than actually finishing the Spider-Verse animated trilogy. We wish that was a joke…

Netflix’s Squid Game is getting an English-language remake and has landed one of the most acclaimed directors around. Multi-Oscar-nominee David Fincher (Se7en, Gone Girl, Mindhunter, House of Cards) has finally ended months of speculation about what he was developing next with Netflix, with an Americanized version of Squid Game often being mentioned as a possibility. It was once rumored that Fincher could be developing the US version of Squid Game as a movie – but according to the early reporting, the project is now confirmed to be a TV series.

It’s mentioned in the report that Fincher could direct another feature film first, but is still expected to make the Squid Game remake a project on his schedule for 2025. Fincher’s Squid Game remake would further expand the scope of the IP, which currently includes the worldwide breakout hit first season of the Korean-language show form Hwang Dong-hyuk; the reality show spinoff (Squid Game: The Challenge), which also became a hit and inspired real-life Squid Game: The Experience gaming events; Season 2 of the Korean series and a video game adaptation (Squid Game: Unleashed) that’s also in development. So far, the scripted and reality show versions of Squid Game have proven the concept is malleable enough to git be fitted into different formats, and this English-language show will no doubt appeal to all the viewers who were held back by the language and cultural barriers of the original show.

Squid Game created a dark and shadowy world of high-stakes gaming, in which a secret cabal of powerful and wealthy elites recruit human players with the promise of a massive cash prize. What the players didn’t know is that they’d signed up to play in lethal versions of favorite childhood games like marbles, tug-of-war, and “red light, green light.” The deadly games were just the beginning: in between challenges, the players found themselves caught in socio/political dramas, as factions formed, and some players tried to improve their odds by killing off competition during rest periods. The mix of horror-thrills and human drama made Squid Game THE talk of the pandemic era Streaming Wars, and created a massively successful content block and IP for Netflix.

Hopefully, (and expectedly) Fincher plans on making enough changes to really make the US version of Squid Game resonate with the current American culture – which could touch upon some hot-button themes. That’s especially true of the interactions between characters from different walks of life that go on between the games. The twisted versions of American childhood games, edge-of-your-seat thrills, and brutal violence? We already know David Fincher can deliver on those.

The canon behind Dragon Ball is wild. Truly, we have seen the series go the distance for Son Goku, and it happens in ways we never see coming. As of late, the franchise has been left reeling over Gohan Black as the Saiyan made their debut in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. And thanks to an epic mod, we can now see how Gohan Black and Goku Black would work together.

Spoiler alert! The father-son duo work together pretty perfectly. This modded tag-team proves Goku can fight with anybody but he’s got a special spot in his heart for Gohan. Kids, you know?

Goku Black and Gohan Black Are Teaming Up

As you can see below, a new Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero mod has surfaced, and it brings Gohan Black together with Goku Black. The duo are seen fighting PVP in a viral clip, and Gohan Black is given an assist by his son. Rather than crafting a combo Kamehameha, the Dragon Ball duo make a joint ki blast, and the Black tag-team does serious damage with the blow.

The new mod has gained serious traction with fans online, and can you blame the buzz? Gohan Black left the Dragon Ball fandom in arms when they appeared in a What-If section of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Fans have already found ways to mod the fighter into the game, and of course, they are eager to test his power level. After all, Gohan is one of the most powerful characters in the series, so imagine what he could do with a backstory similar to Goku Black?

Honestly, the damage is hard to imagine. Gohan and his potential are only held back by his gentle demeanor. If the academic was challenged for real, Gohan would throw some intense punches, and that is all true without Zamasu’s influence.

Will Gohan Black Ever Become Canon?

Given the popularity of Gohan Black, it is no surprise to see fans begging for more of the character. The fighter looks just as cool as Goku Black, but there is more to the fighter than that. Goku can act dim at times, but when it comes to battle, the Saiyan can be rather savage. This kind of aggression has never suited Gohan, but that is not the case with Gohan Black. The alternate-universe villain is as cold as they get, so you can see why the fandom is in a frenzy.

Netizens are desperate for Gohan Black to take on the canon and honestly? It could happen. Dragon Ball is not afraid to mess with its timelines, after all. From the Android saga to Cell and Future Trunks, we have seen timelines get erased entirely in Dragon Ball. Capsule Corporation has the technology to explore time, and in Goku Black’s case, we visited mirror universes. If there is a universe where Goku’s body was taken over by Zamasu, then there is one where Gohan Black was created. Now that we have had a taste of the fighter, fans want more, so it is up to Dragon Ball to make Gohan Black a canon contender.

Sadly, this canon shift does not seem likely. Gohan Black could very easily be made canon, but Dragon Ball has its own priorities these days. While Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero gears up for its first DLC drop, the anime has its own mission. Dragon Ball Daima has made its premiere, and the new show is already a hit. Filled with lore drops and impressive animation, Dragon Ball Daima is the show Dragon Ball GT wishes it was. But once this anime run is done, maybe we can revisit Gohan Black?

This year, the world watched as Uzumaki made its debut with bated breath. The anime fandom has seen a number of Junji Ito adaptations fail straight out of the gate, but the Warner Bros. Discovery project promised to be different. Uzumaki made good on that promise with episode one, but sadly, the good times did not last. By its finale, Uzumaki found itself better known for its stiff animation, and now fans are asking a big question…. Did David Zaslav have anything to do with the downfall?

Over the past week, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery has found himself in hot water on a number of fronts. From shareholder pressure to online mockery, Zaslav is facing a mountain of work. The controversial executive has been scrutinized heavily for dozens of decisions made in the past several years. His track record with animation is particularly bad, so really, can you blame netizens for asking after Uzumaki?

Uzumaki’s Downfall Was Not Expected at All

In order to unpack the travesty that is Uzumaki, we need to talk about its backstory. The hit story was released decades ago as a manga penned by Ito. The artist, who is considered a horror master, earned high praise for Uzumaki‘s eerie atmosphere and body horror. The unsettling tale has become one of Ito’s most popular stories, and many fans were hopeful when Adult Swim (Warner Bros. Discovery) announced it was adapting the manga for the screen. Production I.G. was set to co-produce the anime, and after the 2019 reveal, fans waited.

And waited. And waited. And again, they waited. Fans stood guard over Uzumaki throughout the pandemic as COVID-19 nearly derailed the project. Finally, director Hiroshi Nagahama shared an update that Uzumaki would be released in 2024, and the anime came to life with a stunning premiere. The first episode of Uzumaki is a true masterclass with its fluid animation and upsetting visuals. It marks the first time Ito’s work was done justice on screen. However, that would change in episode two.

Across its four-episode run, only the first episode of Uzumaki managed to wow fans. The rest of the show was ladened with cardboard animation that belonged in a PowerPoint slide. From its rushed writing to its static visuals, Uzumaki saw its lofty reputation crumble in record time. Its unexpected downfall has left many asking for answers, and a recent report suggested Zaslav was to blame.

Did David Zaslav Orchestrate Uzumaki’s Downfall?

As you can see here, netizens were roped into a viral report once Uzumaki ended that blamed Zaslav for the show’s ruin. The note was treated as fact, but let’s be transparent here. The report came from TV Tropes, a fan-site that does series breakdowns and reviews. The report in question was nothing more than a rumor, but it isn’t baseless. The team behind Uzumaki has spoken about the pressure higher-ups put on the anime, and Zaslav’s history with animation is nothing short of damning.

Jason DeMarco, a top exec at Adult Swim, addressed the Uzumaki shift in a post to X (Twitter). He wrote, “It’s fine, we knew this would happen. I can’t talk about what went down but we were screwed over and the options were A) not finish and air nothing and call it a loss, B) just finish and air episode one and leave it incomplete, or C) run all four [episodes], warts and all. Out of respect for the hard work, we chose C.”

“A lot of [people] worked very hard on this show and I didn’t think the actions of just one or two people should be the reason it never saw the light of day. Maybe that’s the wrong choice, I truly don’t know. But those [people] have a right to be annoyed and disappointed.”

As you can see above, DeMarco’s statement suggests it was “one or two” people who really derailed the series. This is the comment that directed fans to Zaslav, and to be frank, there is no way to prove his tie to Uzumaki‘s downfall. Fans can only speculate based on Zaslav’s troubled decisions. From shelving finished films for tax breaks to cutting animated shows from Max, Zaslav has earned the ire of the animation fandom. And now, it seems anime lovers have their own score to settle.

How Do We Avoid Another Uzumaki?

There is no way to prevent a bad anime from being made, but Uzumaki‘s promise makes its ruin sting. Creators like DeMarco went into the show with high hopes, but forces outside of their control left the anime hurting. In a post on social media, animator Henry Thurlow broke down his take on the Uzumaki disaster, and he suggested two main forces are to blame for the ordeal.

“I have so much I want to say about the Uzumaki adaptation… but it’ll never fit into a set of tweets. (It’s times like these I miss the vlog series we use to do where I could rant for 20 minutes) all I’ll say then, in short, is this. While I don’t have any actual bts knowledge of the Uzumaki production, it was advertised as a Production IG series for years, only to be marketed as “IG &__ (not even an IG subsidiary) at the last moment. I knew there would be a huge gap between the 2 companies work… Of course artists need time & resources to do great things. If that was taken from IG it’s terrible. It does seem though that IG recently (unlike its glory days) endlessly delays their projects. They go year after year completing very little,” he shared.

“As for the Uzumaki production, at the end of the day it’s almost certainly some western producer’s fault. “This is taking too long so force some other studio to finish it I don’t care what it looks like.” I’d bet everything I have that’s how it went down. Again & again these western-produced anime have problems because the western producers are fucking trash. Kawajiri’s last few anime, the unreleased AvP anime, now Uzumaki. Again & again I see western producers screw over the artists & anime studios here & it’s infuriating.”

As anime grows bigger and globalization creeps in, the industry is going to have some rough periods. Thurlow suggests Hollywood needs a better education on how anime is run, and just about any anime fan would second that pitch. The medium is so special because of its production period and the stories it tackles. If you strip that away, an anime is left crippled, and that sad situation is what Uzumaki was forced to embrace.

The long-awaited Wizards of Waverly Place continuation premieres on Disney Channel tomorrow, October 29th. It reunites original series stars David Henrie and Selena Gomez on the network for the first time since 2012. In Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Justin now has a family of his own. He lives a “normal” life with his wife Giada (Mimi Gianopulos) and two sons Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko).

However, once something goes awry at WizTech, a young, powerful wizard named Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) shows up at his door in need of training. Justin must embrace his past in order to protect all of Wizard World.

There’s definitely a lot of hype around the new series as its not only a nostalgic trip for older Gen Z that grew up during the golden era of Disney Channel, but a bonding moment for the ones that may have families of their own. In the first 10 days alone, the trailer amassed over 69 million views, setting a huge record.

How To Watch Wizards Beyond Waverly Place

If you’re hoping to watch the show live as it premieres, it will premiere October 29th at 8 p.m. ET on Disney Channel with the first two episodes. However, if you have just a bit more patience, all eight episodes of the season will stream next day (October 30th) on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand just in time for Halloween! While Henrie is penned as a series regular, Gomez is only a guest star, so don’t expect to see a ton of her this season. Additionally, two former Disney favorites — Raven-Symoné and Danielle Fishel — will direct episodes this season.

“I have an overall deal with Disney Channel right now for directing and producing. So, I started off directing Raven’s Home and went on to a lot of other shows that they had on the channel,” Symoné recently told E! News about directing the Wizards continuation. “I felt like being in the industry since I was three years old, I know what it feels like to be a child actor and I know how important it is to be treated with respect but at the same time know that I have to know my lines and pass my tests.”

Spider-Noir is Amazon’s upcoming live-action Spider-Man TV series, featuring Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man Noir character, who was a breakout hit of Sony’s Spider-Verse animated films. No doubt Spider-Man Noir is now a mainstream character thanks to Cage’s performance in the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; however, Cage wasn’t the first acclaimed actor to play Spider-Man Noir onscreen!

Who Played Spider-Man Noir Before Nic Cage?

This Is Us and Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia voiced an animated version of Spider-Man Noir in the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series (2012-2017). He was featured in the multi-episode Season 3 story arc “The Spider-Verse (Pt. 2)” where he both scrapped and teamed up with Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Drake Bell) from the “Prime Universe.” Spider-Man Noir was part of a coalition of Spider-Man variants (Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Girl, Spider-Ham, Spyder-Knight, Miles Morales) who are targeted by Norman Osborn/Green Goblin to have their DNA stolen, so Norman can become the “Spider-Goblin.” The animated version of the story drew from Spider-Man comics at the time, while also setting the stage for the Spider-Verse concept to get a blockbuster movie adaptation a few years later.

Ventimiglia’s Spider-Man Noir was a big geeky Easter egg when he appeared in Ultimate Spider-Man – but ironically, that more comic-accurate version (from a “Noir Universe” modeled after 1930s Film Noir) will now be the subject matter viewers get in this live-action Spider-Noir series. Thanks to Nic Cage’s comedic idiosyncracies, fans already buy into Spider-Man/Peter Parker Noir’s strange cadences and mannerisms – if Amazon MGM Studios can sell them on that entire world, Sony’s live-action Spider-Verse franchise takes a critical step forward, as Spider-Noir is the first (and most high-profile) TV series in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which has already seen projects (Silk: Spider Society) die in development.

Spider-Noir will co-star Lamorne Morris (New Girl) as Robbie Robertson; additional cast members include Lukas Haas (Inception), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives), Michael Kostroff (Luke Cage), Scott MacArthur (The Righteous Gemstones), Joe Massingill (Barry), Whitney Rice (Jury Duty), and Amanda Schull (Suits) in recurring roles. 

Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) directs the series and will executive produce the first two episodes. Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher, Shantaram),  serve as co-showrunners and executive producers and developed the series with the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

Spider-Noir is currently in production. It will air on MGM+ in 2025.

With November just a few days away, Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service is getting subscribers prepared for all of the new additions they can expect on the lineup in the weeks ahead. The service’s monthly newsletter revealed the horde of new movies and TV titles set to be added to Prime Video’s roster over the course of November, and it’s filled with plenty of exciting news.

The first day of November will see dozens and dozens of new movies make their way to Prime Video’s lineup, in addition to all 12 seasons of the hit series Bones. Later in the month, Prime will debut a couple of new TV originals, including the new Alex Cross series and a TV reboot of Cruel Intentions.

Netflix is making it easier for subscribers to clip and share moments from their favorite titles. The streamer on Monday announced Netflix Moments, a mobile feature that gives users the option to “share this moment” to social media platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram Stories via the Netflix app on iOS and Android. Whether it’s Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams dance scene or Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson shredding Metallica in Stranger Things, subscribers can now save, rewatch, and share scenes they can’t stop talking about. Variety first reported the news.

“With Moments, members can quickly bookmark a scene while watching on their phone, saving it directly to their My Netflix tab for easy access later,” Netflix says. “Members can also share their favorite scenes across platforms like Instagram and Facebook, creating a seamless way to engage with their favorite content and share it with friends. We’re excited to add even more features in the future to help members enjoy and share their favorite Netflix moments.”

The new Netflix feature is being promoted as part of the “It’s So Good” campaign (below), which sees Giancarlo Esposito (Netflix’s The Gentlemen) channel the Wednesday dance, Cardi B going live to talk about Baby Reindeer, and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles feeling the need for speed after binge-watching Drive to Survive.

“You know that feeling when a scene, character, or line from a show or movie just sticks with you, and you can’t help but text your friends, ‘You have to watch this, it’s so good!’?” said Marian Lee, Netflix’s chief marketing officer. “Whether it’s sparking Halloween costume ideas or becoming a TikTok sensation, the incredible fandoms we see are a testament to what makes Netflix amazing. Our new campaign is all about celebrating these unforgettable moments, taking you back to the feeling you had when you first became obsessed with a great show on Netflix.”

“I know firsthand there’s something magical that happens when a powerful story finds its audience on Netflix,” added Esposito, whose credits include Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Boys, and Star Wars: The Mandalorian. “Suddenly everyone is captivated and can’t stop talking about it, and that passion just keeps compounding.”

Said Biles, “When I get hooked by a story, I go deep. It happens all the time — I’m watching a scene and have to find someone to talk to about it. At the end of the day, I’m a fan who obsesses over shows like everyone else.”

In 2021, Netflix rolled out the shuffle feature, Play Something, followed by the Two Thumbs Up button in 2022. The streamer discontinued the “Surprise Me” shuffle feature in 2023.

Earlier this year DC and Upper Deck expanded their partnership in a major way, teasing a wave of new trading cards, tabletop games, and memorabilia, and the great news is that the partnership will be introducing its first products in 2024. There’s even better news though, as fans can get their first DC trading card set in November, as Upper Deck has revealed the first look and details for a special Batman 85th Anniversary set that will be dropping on e-Pack over the course of five weeks, and we’ve got everything you need to now right here, ComicBook had the chance to speak to Upper Deck Entertainment Director Travis Rhea all about the new all-encompassing Batman set, as well the first full Trading Card set DC Annual, and we even talked about the future and working with DC’s new Absolute Universe!

Batman 85th Anniversary Set

The first set as part of this expanded partnership will be the Batman 85th Anniversary set, and you can take a look at some of the cards featured below. The set will be released over the course of five weeks on the e-Pack platform, and will feature a host of iconic Batman characters, covers, vehicles, and more from the worlds of comics, movies, TV, and animation. The set will start rolling out on November 13th, and each week will see 10 new cards released through mid-December. As with many e-Pack cards, these are physical cards in addition to digital, and you can have them shipped to your home right after purchasing.

Funnily enough this set wasn’t actually part of the original rollout plan, but Upper Deck wasn’t going to let such a great moment in time pass them by. “Well, you know, for starters, we just couldn’t pass up the chance at jumping on a significant anniversary for Batman like that. It really wasn’t part of the original line plan, to be honest, but when Warner Bros. let us know that it was an opportunity and they showed us what kind of assets that we would be able to use, like, we, we just couldn’t pass it up,” Rhea said. “It’s really unusual for you to have a branding solution that allows you to dive into comics and animation and movies and TV, and not just characters, but vehicles. So we really did lean into that with this first anniversary set, and I feel like it’s really gonna turn out to be pretty great.”

“It’s a weekly pack launch. There’s five weeks, and each week kind of focuses on a different theme for Batman. Like one might be comic covers and another is going to be villains. Another is based on the film stuff, the, the live action stuff. We just keep it fresh as we go, but it’s really neat to see that cross section of one character, and if you’re going to choose one character, I mean, why not make it Batman, right? He’s. He’s got the deepest lore, so we’re super excited about that,” Rhea said.

Upper Deck also wanted to connect the Batman 85th celebration to their highly anticipated Skybox Metal Universe Batman set, and fans can actually grab a special #0 card for that set here. “But we also made it a tie-in. I mentioned it was not originally part of the line plan, so we decided to tie it into something that is and was part of the original plan. We’ve got Skybox Metal Universe Batman coming out next year, and so in this 85th weekly pack set, you can actually get card number zero for a preview card of that set as an achievement as you build your collection on this set,” Rhea said. “So we kind of thought that that was a nice little tease of the new set that’s going to come out next year while focusing on this anniversary.”

DC Annual

The first full set of this new era will be DC Annual, and taking a look at some of the early images, you can see that Upper Deck is featuring some very recent artwork and storylines. That’s pretty impressive when you consider this is the very first set and how much has shifted and changed in DC’s world throughout the past year.

“Well thank you for recognizing that, because that is always the challenge with an annual set is where do you cut it off, right? Like, at some point you’re going to have to cut it and start moving into production, but we want it to be as relevant and new and current as possible, obviously, since it’s an annual set,” Rhea said. “But that set, I think you’ll find has not only some relevant and new content, but it has a lot of familiar feel for annual fans. We didn’t want to throw out all the brand equity that we had with annual, so you’ll have some similar structure to the set and similar technology.”

“There’s definitely some lenticular cards in here and then some sketch cards, but we focused on making sure that the insert sets were very thematic to what DC has going on and will feel relevant and new. We’ve got some Dawn of DC in there, but also Beast War, and we’ll continue to do the rookies who are the rookie heroes and really try to tell that story of 23 and 24 as much as possible and then cut it and move on to the next one because there’s always all kinds of new content coming out from them,” Rhea said.

One thing Rhea is particularly excited to get to is DC’s Absolute Universe, which has taken the world by storm with Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman, and Absolute Superman is on the way very soon too.

“Like, I can’t wait to get to the Absolute stuff,” Rhea said, which led me to figure out how on earth Absolute Batman is going to fit on just one card. I proposed a six card format for Absolute Batman to truly capture the scale, and with a laugh Rhea said “Hey, can we steal that idea?” If it happens you heard it here first!

The DC Annual set will feature several different insert cards and variants to chase, including the Suspended Animation set, and there will be some truly rare cards to collect for those who seek a challenge.3 “So those are going to be tiered out with four different levels basically of rarity. Your most common, I think there’s around 20 different characters that are going to be numbered somewhere around 700, I think, I don’t know. And then they just get more rare from there to where I think the fourth level is somewhere around, I want to say it’s five. Only five characters and number to 100. So those, that one’s going to be like a collecting bonanza. Like people are going to be really interested in chasing that and building the whole set out. So that’s going to be really fun to watch,” Rhea said.

The Future

As for what’s next, the sky is the limit, and Upper Deck already has plans for years to come. That said, they want to be patient and really give each of these foundational sets their due, and they’ve been working DC extensively to make sure every set shines and is as current and relevant as possible.

“Oh yeah, I mean honestly, we have a calendar mapped out through 29 at this point, so we’ve got a lot of plans here, and obviously when you’re that far ahead, you gotta be flexible,” Rhea said. “And we don’t know all of the DC plans moving forward, but we are trying to keep in sync with the publishing team, at least from a planning point of view on a monthly basis. So as they start to focus on stuff, they let us know as far out ahead as possible and then we start to plug it in and readjust stuff in our calendar.”

“But the biggest challenge for us, Matthew, is really just being patient. Honestly, like we are trying to build this up but in the right way, and there’s also like the getting to know you period with the licensor and making sure that we’re hitting on all the right points for them for their brand. And so like, we want to start running but we know it’s not the right thing to do and it’ll really start to ramp up as we get into 26, but 25 is going to be amazing for this team. Like, we can’t wait,” Rhea said. “We’ve got several really key products that we think are going to hit in 25, and then like I said, just being patient and making sure that we ramp it up in the right way and not too much too fast that’s not authentic in nature.”

Naruto is one of the biggest series to ever come from Japan. Its heroes rank high with guys like Goku and Luffy, after all. With 20+ years under its belt, Naruto has done a lot in that time, and its reputation is backed by millions of fans. That is why Naruto has locked in a big theme park deal as it will allow fans to visit the Hidden Leaf firsthand in a few years.

The update comes from France as Manga News reported live from the Naruto Shippuden: Symphonic Experience. It was there Masashi Kishimoto’s hit series came before fans in concert, and the event ended with a big announcement. The theme park Parc Spirou Provence is creating its own Naruto section, and the area will open in 2026.

Naruto Is Getting Its Very Own Theme Park

According to the update, Parc Spirou Provence has dedicated nearly four acres to the Naruto area. This new space will be added to the theme park in 2026 and include a variety of attractions. From rides to eateries and shops, Naruto is getting the full treatment by Parc Spirou Provence, and the park’s general director says the land’s layout is being planned with Shueisha.

“It is an immense joy and an honor for us to bring the universe of Naruto to life at Spirou Park. We have been working on this incredible expansion for 4 years now. Conducted hand in hand between the Park, Mediatoon Licensing and our Japanese partners Shueisha, Studio Pierrot, and TV Tokyo, this project will allow us to offer visitors the most immersive experience possible for a theme park,” Herve Lux explained.

Now if you are not familiar with Parc Spirou Provence, the destination is located in Monteux, and it opened its doors in 2018. The park is tied to Dupuis, a popular comic publisher, so it features characters like the Smurfs. With nearly two million visitors to date, Parc Spirou Provence is an up-and-coming destination for tourists, and this Naruto park will mark it all the more enviable. So if you have ever wanted to visit the Hidden Leaf Village, well – a trip to France may be in order in 2026.

The Recent Rise of Anime Theme Parks Is Overdue

This theme park deal has the fandom buzzing, but it is worth noting that Naruto is no stranger to such thrills. A Naruto theme park already exists in Japan if you care to visit Awaji Island. The theme park, which is named Naruto & Boruto Shinobi-zato, has a scale replica of the Hokage Mountain and even recreates park of the Hidden Leaf. From Ichiraku Ramen to the Ninja Academy, the park has it all along with AR attractions and mazes. The park opened some years ago, but this new theme park deal promises to dedicate more land to Naruto. And if we can get an actual shinobi roller coaster, we will call that a win.

Beyond Naruto, anime as a whole has become very enticing to theme park operators. From Pokemon to One Piece, a number of theme park deals have targeted anime in the past decade. Universal Studios Japan has spearheaded many of those crossovers with its Cool Japan initiative. From Neon Genesis Evangelion to Detective Conan and Demon Slayer, Universal Studios has a rotating schedule for anime titles. Jujutsu Kaisen took over the park not too long ago, and Universal Studios Hollywood confirmed it will borrow that anime attraction for stateside fans in 2025.

Of course, none of these deals compare to what Studio Ghibli did for its body of work. The anime studio has opened its very own theme park that highlights nature and the importance of art. With Goro Miyazaki at the helm, Ghibli Park opened a few years back and features a number of lands based on Studio Ghibli’s top films. From Spirited Away to My Neighbor Totoro, all of your fave films are represented at the park. It even houses a replica of Howl’s actual moving castle, so when it comes to anime theme parks, Studio Ghibli is a step ahead.

Nicolas Cage is reprising his Spider-Verse voice role as Spider-Man Noir in a new live-action series. Fans got to meet Cage’s version of the noir-inspired webslinger in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and while he only had a short cameo in the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man Noir is expected to have a larger role in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. As Sony Pictures looks to get its Spider-Man Universe off the ground on the big screen, Spider-Noir will push the franchise on streaming. Spider-Man Noir has a dedicated fanbase, and there is interest in what the first Spider-Man live-action series will look like.

Before we dive into everything you need to know about Spider-Noir, the first thing we have to talk about is Sony’s plans to expand its Spider-Man Universe on television. Venom: The Last Dance is out in theaters, as underwhelming as it appears to be so far, and on the horizon is Kraven the Hunter. The big screen is where Sony is focusing on villains in Spider-Man’s rogues gallery, and streaming is putting the spotlight on our Spider heroes. Leading the charge is Spider-Man Noir, but he wasn’t the first hero picked to headline a streaming series in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

Spider-Noir replaces Silk: Spider Society as first Spider-Man live-action series

The first Spider-Man live-action series officially announced wasn’t Spider-Noir; it was actually Silk: Spider Society. The joint venture from Amazon/MGM and Sony Pictures Television was announced back in November 2022 with The Walking Dead Universe writer/producer Angela Kang serving as showrunner. Silk: Spider-Society was going to launch the Spider-Man TV Universe into with a domestic release on MGM+ before being available globally on Prime Video.

However, earlier this year we learned Silk: Spider Society would not be moving forward at Amazon after all, with Sony Pictures Television shopping the show to other buyers. There were issues with the show’s development, from Silk: Spider Society‘s writers room being let go and the show reconfigured to somehow not focus on its central character of Silk.

Spider-Man Noir getting live-action treatment

Enter Spider-Man Noir. Reports of a live-action Spider-Man Noir series being in the works at Amazon surfaced in February 2023, though Nicolas Cage was not attached to the project at that time. The character hails from Earth-90214 in the Marvel Comics multiverse, which is a Depression-era world where Marvel’s superheroes are reinvented to fit into the aesthetic of noir detective movies. Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will serve as showrunners, who developed the series with Into the Spider-Verse‘s Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Amy Pascal.

Nicolas Cage wasn’t officially announced to be starring in Spider-Noir until May 2024. The show was originally referred to as Noir, but now appears to have taken the name of Spider-Noir, possibly to let the audience know it’s a part of the Spider-Man Universe.

Spider-Noir cast revealed

Aside from Nicolas Cage, one of the first actors linked to Spider-Noir was New Girl star Lamorne Morris, who is playing the fan-favorite Spider-Man character Robbie Robertson. He is one of Peter Parker’s bosses at the Daily Bugle, and while Peter typically has a dicey relationship with J. Jonah Jameson, Robbie Robertson has often been a loyal associate and friend to the wall-crawler. The description of Morris’ Robbie Robertson calls him “driven, hard-working, and won’t take no for an answer. A dedicated journalist trying to make it with the odds stacked against him as a black professional in 1930s New York, he takes on riskier stories that no one else would touch in order to catch attention and a paycheck. He is willing to do whatever is necessary for his career.”

Golden Globe and Oscar-winning star Brendan Gleeson (he Banshees of Inisherin) is playing the villain of Spider-Noir. Details about Gleeson’s role weren’t immediately available, but Marvel’s original Spider-Man Noir comic re-imagined many of Spider-Man’s classic villains as gangster types in 1930s New York. They included Norman “The Goblin” Osborn, a carnival freak turned crime lord, and his carnie cronies Kraven (a former animal trainer), the Vulture (an animalistic freak show cannibal), and the Chameleon (a master of disguise).

Li Jun Li (Wu Assassins) also joins Spider-Noir as “a singer at the premier nightclub in New York,” and The Marvels star Abraham Popoola plays “a World War I veteran who is looking for an opportunity to get ahead.” Additionally, eight other actors were also added to the Spider-Man live-action series: Lukas Haas (Inception), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives), Michael Kostroff (Luke Cage), Scott MacArthur (The Righteous Gemstones), Joe Massingill (Barry), Whitney Rice (Jury Duty), and Amanda Schull (Suits) in recurring roles.

Spider-Man Noir rocks a comics-accurate costume in live-action series

Fans recently got to see photos of Nicolas Cage on the Spider-Noir set, and there’s even photos of the iconic black costume Noir donned in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated movie. The first set of photos show Nicolas Cage maskless in a black trenchcoat, acting out a strange-looking sequence that has him both kneeling and lying on the ground, seemingly dodging or run away from some unseen force or assailant.

However, it’s the comics-accurate photos that are sure to catch fans’ attention. It’s noted that it’s not Nicolas Cage in the Spider-Man Noir costume; rather a stunt double performing the action sequence that features our hero on top of a speeding car.

How many episodes is Spider-Noir?

Nicolas Cage revealed how many episodes the first season of Spider-Noir will consist of. “Forty-five minutes. I mean, it’s eight episodes. So it’s the equivalent of four movies in five months. And I’ve got another movie I’ve gotta prepare for, and then a movie right after it,” Cage told The New Yorker in July.

Eight episodes seem to be the sweet spot when creating TV shows based on comic books. Each season of The Boys has been eight episodes, and Marvel’s Disney+ content has been between six and 10 episodes on average.

What is Spider-Noir about?

Spider-Noir tells the story “of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero,” per the official logline.

Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) is overseeing the series and executive producing the first two episodes. Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher, Shantaram) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers, and developed the series with the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which includes Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

What is the release date for Spider-Noir?

Spider-Noir will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel, then globally on Prime Video in 2025.

Megan Thee Stallion shared details about her own anime, and it would put things lightly to say fans are ready to watch.

“I’m still working on it, but I got caught up on my music. The anime is definitely on the way,” Megan Thee Stallion confirmed.

Megan Thee Stallion Wants to Make Her Own Anime

Clearly, Megan Thee Stallion likes to stay busy, and her anime confession is hardly a surprise. The rapper has never shied away from her love of all things otaku. From anime to manga, Megan Thee Stallion has represented her fandoms well, and she has become a sort of mascot for the anime fandom.

After all, Megan Thee Stallion has done a lot to plug her favorite series. A few years back, Paper Magazine broke the fandom when the rapper posed on its cover in cosplay as Shoto Todoroki. In the years since, Megan Thee Stallion has not only become a global superstar, but she has upped her cosplay game. From Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure to Sailor Moon, she has leaned into her top series very publicly, and that isn’t even to mention Jujutsu Kaisen.

After all, Megan Thee Stallion is a big fan of the Shonen Jump series. Not only has the rapper cosplayed Gojo Satoru, but she name drops the sorcerer in one of her newest tracks. “Otaku Hot Girl” names Gojo in its chorus and drops nods to Sukuna and Yuji for good measure. From Naruto to Hunter x Hunter, Megan Thee Stallion has found ways to plug anime into her music, and now she is looking to make a series of her own.

As Anime Grows Bigger, Celebrities Are Starting to Fall in Line

Megan Thee Stallion may be one of the most vocal celebrities out there where anime is concerned, but she is not the only fan. Hollywood has broken the seal on anime, and as the Japanese industry grows globally, celebs are starting to talk about their fandom. We have seen a number of stars from Cole Sprouse to Michael B. All of this love doesn’t even touch upon anime’s close ties with the hip-hop industry as well as pro sports. After years of being seen as niche, anime’s famous fans are making the medium bigger than ever, and Megan Thee Stallion is helping lead that charge.

And when it comes to her anime, well – we have a few requests. We need to see the rapper star in her own magical girl anime. Somebody better call Studio Trigger and get its team contracted ASAP!
