Black Clover’s manga will be returning with the next few chapters of its final arc, and it really needs to avoid Jujutsu Kaisen’s mistakes if it wants to stick the landing. Black Clover has been in the midst of the manga’s final arc for the past year or so. Series creator Yuki Tabata shifted away from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine’s weekly release schedule to a new quarterly release schedule for Jump GIGA magazine. This has resulted in hefty updates for the manga’s final chapters in the year thus far, and the next update will bring us closer to the grand finale than ever before.

Black Clover will be returning with three new chapters on November 15th in Japan, and it will feature 61 pages in total. What has also been teased is that it will be featuring the “final battle” for the series overall. It’s yet to be explained as to whether or not the manga will be starting the final battle with this update, or be entirely focused on it, but what is clear is that the manga will be coming to an end fairly soon. So it really needs to make sure to avoid doing what Jujutsu Kaisen did as it ended if it wants to be a hit with fans.

Shueisha

What Happened With Jujutsu Kaisen?

Jujutsu Kaisen wasn’t the only Shonen Jump series to end this year, but it probably had the more notorious ending. It’s all because it felt incredibly rushed. It was suddenly announced that the series would be ending five chapters ahead of its actual ending, and it seemingly came out of nowhere because it really did. The final arc didn’t seem like it would be the final one as the fight against Sukuna still had lingering bigger threats overhead.

The biggest issue of that finale was the fact that it introduced a ton of new characters in the later arcs only to then not only many of them to have a proper resolution. It just all felt like it was cut short despite it being series creator Gege Akutami’s intention. So thanks to all of the questions left unanswered, fans had felt like the ending didn’t hit its mark. There just wasn’t enough time to be properly ready for that ending, and ultimately it’s why the series ended so divisively. At the end of the day, there just wasn’t enough time spent getting ready for the grand finale. Thankfully, Black Clover has already avoided this.

Black Clover Won’t Have the Same Problem

It’s hard to gauge whether or not Black Clover will have a truly satisfying ending when it comes to tying up its own loose ends, but it’s already got a head start at making sure it avoids Jujutsu Kaisen’s biggest mistake. Black Clover has been in the midst of its final arc for quite a while. Even before it shifted its scheduled to quarterly releases, the manga had been spending the better part of a year properly setting the stage for the final battles to come.

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s issue was that it didn’t properly fill out the scope of its finale. The final arc didn’t feel like one because the fight against Sukuna initially seemed like it was only the first phase of something bigger to come instead of the single fight it turned out to be. But Black Clover has properly avoided this with a steady amount of build up for its own grand finale. The series’ last few arcs have been setting the stage for what’s to come as Asta and the others have been facing off against the Zogratis siblings. And once they were defeated, a final reveal had unleashed a final sibling.

This led to a first string of fights as the members of the Spade Kingdom invaded the Clover Kingdom, and even had Asta in the midst of a final training arc before these fights began. Then as the final arc kicked in fully, there were even bigger opponents to deal with from that point. There was a steady incline in growth, and with it fans were able to properly prepare for the end. Now that each chapter this year has been so meaty in length as well, Black Clover has really been setting up for its grand finale.

This means there will be fewer chances for leftover questions or loose ends when Black Clover finally wraps. It’s already doing the work to make sure it doesn’t have the same divisive conclusion that Jujutsu Kaisen did, and now it just needs to make sure that its actual finale really does stick the landing at the end of the day. It’s almost there, it just needs to end in a satisfying way. A big ask for sure, but one that Black Clover seems ready to take on.

Bleach’s creator was recently asked about his favorite fight scene in Jujutsu Kaisen, and he’s a big fan of one of the deadliest one sided fights in the entire series! Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen have quite a lot to celebrate because while both series have ended their respective runs with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, both franchises are experiencing a major high among fans. Tite Kubo’s Bleach is taking over screens with the latest batch of episodes in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War this Fall, and Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen is now in the works on coming back with Season 3 of the TV anime in the future.

Kubo and Akutami were recently recruited by Shueisha as judges for the special Jump Next Generation Battle Manga Award alongside My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi and Black Clover creator Yuki Tabata. They are looking through tons of submissions from fans in Japan to award a series that they think represents the next generation of battle series for Jump magazine. As part of this gathering, the creators were asked about their favorite fights from each others’ series, and Bleach creator Tite Kubo revealed that he was a huge fan on Maki’s one vs. all fight against the Zenin clan in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Shueisha

Bleach Creator’s Favorite Jujutsu Kaisen Fight

Kubo’s favorite fight in Jujutsu Kaisen might be a bit spoilery for fans who are only caught up with the anime as it takes place right before the events of the Culling Game arc. After the Shibuya Incident Maki is unrecognizably injured, and decides to eliminate the rest of her family in order to tap into the true extent of her strength. In Chapters 148 through 150 of the manga, Maki decides to basically go on a path of vengeance and starts tearing through the other members of her clan.

Kubo praises the scene as such, “While making every effort to avoid explanations of complex magic formulas, which is generally considered to be a feature of jujutsu battles, the story follows Akutami’s signature flashbacks that alternate between fact and fiction, followed by a succession of magic formulas that are easy to understand and look good on screen, a series of battles full of gore and scenes that make you envious of the loosening of the jumps, and mountains of corpses. The flow leading up to the fight with Naoya is exhilarating and perfect. This is what it means to be in the flow of a writer’s strokes.”

Shueisha

Why This Jujutsu Kaisen Fight Is Important

It’s no surprise that this is a major fight that stood out to Bleach’s creator as it’s one of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s most brutal. As Kubo rightly points out, it’s not a fight that’s primarily concerned with Jujutsu techniques as Maki cleanly cuts through everything in her path. It’s not like many of the other scenes in the Shibuya Incident or Culling Game as Maki has no cursed techniques of her own. Instead, her raw strength and bloodlust eventually lead her to a full massacre of the rest of her family.

It’s a huge pivot for Maki as a character as she becomes a modern age version of Toji Fushiguro, who also fought in very much the same way. The strength of their bodies, and speed of their strikes allowed them to get the upper hand on many curse users. It’s what brings Maki to the level necessary to put up a real fight later as Yuji and the others eventually challenge Sukuna, and it’s still one of the biggest moments in the series. When it gets animated in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, fans are going to be in for a wildly brutal time.

Jujutsu Kaisen has ended but that doesn’t mean the story of Yuji Itadori and his fellow students at Jujutsu Tech don’t have some surprises left for fans. With the anime confirming that a third season was in the works from Studio MAPPA, the supernatural shonen series is teasing a major reveal this year. With fans still saying goodbye to the anime heroes, a countdown has begun that will reveal another major element of the manga that has yet to be revealed. While a sequel series is far from confirmed as of the writing of this article, this fact could always change.

Without diving too deep into spoiler territory, Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga is one that gave the heroes the happiest possible ending they could hope for. Creator Gege Akutami has earned a reputation for killing off major characters, hero and villain alike. In the anime, Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season shared this fact thanks to the Shibuya Incident Arc, a storyline that killed off some major figures and left many anime viewers reeling as a result. Surprisingly, the grand finale of the manga did actually bring characters back who were long thought deceased, making for quite a change for the shonen’s author kill streak.

MAPPA

A Jujutsu Kaisen Countdown

The official Jujutsu Kaisen social media account started a countdown for November 18th, hinting at the release of the manga covers for volumes 29 and 30. These two volumes will be the grand finale of the series that has become one of the biggest shonen series in almost record time. While anime fans might be waiting years to see these events hit the screen, the manga release is sure to come as quite a shock for those who didn’t read the individual chapters that were released by Weekly Shonen Jump.

The State of Shonen

Jujutsu Kaisen is far from the only shonen series that brought its story to an end in recent years. Earlier this year, My Hero Academia did the same by releasing its final chapter, with the eighth and final season slated to arrive next year in 2025. While an end date has yet to be revealed for One Piece, the Straw Hat Pirates’ creator has stated in recent years that the final saga is underway and Luffy’s quest is will see him sailing off into the sunset.

Luckily, there have been new series that are looking to fill the gap for some of the series that are coming to an end. Dragon Ball Super has been confirmed to return by artist Toyotaro following the tragic passing of Akira Toriyama. Meanwhile, major series like Dandadan, Sakamoto Days, Kagurabachi, and more are looking to bring in new readers. While Dandadan has recently started its anime adaptation, the latter shonen series have yet to receive their own animes but might just become far more popular once they do.

A Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel

As of the writing of this article, Gege Akutami hasn’t revealed if they plan on continuing Yuji Itadori’s story in any shape or form. The final chapter gives us quite the definitive ending for many of Jujutsu Kaisen’s characters so should Gege decide to move forward with the series, we imagine it would be quite different from what came before. Whether Jujutsu Kaisen ever returns, the impact that the supernatural shonen series has had on the anime world can never be denied.

Gege Akutami officially brought Jujutsu Kaisen‘s manga to an end with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine earlier this Fall, and the series really doesn’t need to come back with a sequel anytime soon. Jujutsu Kaisen was just one of Shueisha’s blockbuster action series that ended their runs this year, but it’s surprisingly the one series that fans are immediately asking to see more of. Because unlike some of the other endings seen with series such as My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen really just comes to an end shortly after its final battle with plenty of mysteries still surrounding the characters. But it should stay that way.

Jujutsu Kaisen ends in a fairly conclusive matter, but it’s still got a lot of room to explore with its characters and their potential futures. It’s part of why fans either are hoping to see it continue with a sequel, or are even trying to relive the series’ best moments. Something about the finale just didn’t quite stick the landing for many fans, but that’s far from a reason something should continue. In fact, it’s an argument for the complete opposite as maybe we should be satisfied with the fact that Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending worked at all. Trying to force a continuation would only wreck that current delicate balance.

TOHO Animation

At Least Jujutsu Kaisen Has an Ending

The first miracle for Jujutsu Kaisen‘s ending is the fact that it was able to end at all. It’s a privilege for a Shonen Jump series to run for as long as Jujutsu Kaisen got to, and an even bigger privilege to end a series on a creator’s terms. There are many involved with crafting a Shonen Jump manga series, and many who have input at how a story is developed. So it’s a big deal that Akutami was able to craft the ending that he wanted to make, and thus merits a bit of respect to the author’s original wishes. End the story the way it was intended to end and leave it at that.

Regardless of a fan’s feelings about the ending itself, it’s one that Akutami had delivered and thus is the official ending. Unless the creator outright says he wants to continue with a new story, this is as far as the creator wanted to do go with these characters. So just in practical terms, if the story is over then it’s really over. This isn’t a case where it was cut off before its prime and therefore never got to truly end, but instead it’s a series ending after we got to see everything the creator wanted us to see.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-gege-akutami.jpg
Shueisha

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Not Over Yet Anyway

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s manga might be over, but the franchise is not over by any means. It’s kind of like when Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ended. Koyoharu Gotoge seemed to be ending the manga just as the franchise was exploding in popularity, and the anime has successfully kept up the momentum in the years since. Jujutsu Kaisen is going to be the exact same way. We’re getting at least two of three more seasons of the TV series before it ends.

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s anime is going to get even bigger from this point on with the next few arcs it’s going to be adapting that are nothing but increasingly intense fights. This will allow Jujutsu Kaisen to continue new releases in that way, and will ultimately be the way for fans to truly accept the end when it eventually comes to pass a second time. That’s what it all boils down to really. It’s a bummer Jujutsu Kaisen came to an end, so trying to keep it going would be forcing it to go beyond where Akutami wanted the story to go.

Even with so many unanswered questions, it’s all stuff that was ultimately unimportant enough to explore further or deemed totally unnecessary. The lingering mysteries will just continue to be a mystery, and that’s just going be it. The last thing anyone wants is for Jujutsu Kaisen to feel forced in any way, or “not as good as it used to be.” We’ve seen what happens with sequels that don’t hit the mark right away, so why would you want that to happen for something as cool as Jujutsu Kaisen?

Creator Gege Akutami ended his popular shonen series, Jujutsu Kaisen, earlier this year, leaving quite a major hole in Weekly Shonen Jump’s roster. While Yuji Itadori and those who survived arcs like the Shibuya Incident Arc, the Culling Game, and the final fight received the happiest ending they could, there were still some major questions post-series finale surrounding others. Luckily, Akutami has been more than willing to answer long-held fan questions in compilations and has recently done so when it comes to Uraume. There have been mysteries surrounding Uraume’s gender and the manga artist has put these questions to bed with a surprising answer.

For those who are “anime-only” Jujutsu Kaisen fans, you have yet to see a lot of Uraume in action. Most recently, she played a significant role in the anime’s second season via the Shibuya Incident Arc. The Sukuna subordinate has a cursed power that grants her control over ice, making for quite the lethal combination when it comes to both offensive and defensive techniques. In the manga, we’ve seen the villain playing a big role in the Culling Game, the arc that will be the main focus of Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season. Prior to season three’s release, Gege Akutami has confirmed Uraume’s gender along with the antagonist’s unbelievable past.

MAPPA

Uraume Gender Reveal

In a recent manga installment, Akutami stated the following when it came to Uraume’s current gender and the one that she had previously held in a past life, “I meant to mention this in volume 27, but I ended up in the hospital and missed my chance. So, about the names of CG Players: they all share the same names they had as a humans before their reincarnation. This is because it’s the physical body that bears the curse of the Culling Game Players, not the cursed objects themselves. That’s why when Hazenoki was called by his name, he felt a twinge of confusion thinking “So that’s what you’re gonna call me huh?”

When it came to Uraume’s previous life, Akutami made it clear that the evil sidekick was once a man before making a deal with Kenjaku, “As for Uraume, he was originally a man, but due to contract with Kenjaku, he has reincarnated in a female body (Himi Shiori)… Did I mention this somewhere else before?”

MAPPA

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Anime Future

Following the success of season two, Studio MAPPA wasted little in confirming that a third season was on the way. Unfortunately, the production house refrained from sharing exactly when we can expect the story to arrive though it’s sure to be an action-packed one. Considering the wait between seasons one and two, and the overall schedule of MAPPA in terms of anime projects, it might be unlikely to see the Culling Game arrive on the screen in 2025. Still, the success of the series might make the franchise top priority for MAPPA so anything is possible.

In terms of how much story from the manga is left for Jujutsu Kaisen to adapt, it’s a safe bet that there will at least be one more television season and/or movie following the upcoming Culling Game adaptation. Keeping this in mind, it would mean that anime fans will most likely be waiting years to see Yuji’s animated story reach its finale but manga readers know, it is quite the finale in terms of the fight against Sukuna and the sheer number of casualties that take place thanks to it.

In 2014, the manga fandom kept a close eye on Shonen Jump as the manga anthology brought My Hero Academia to life. The superhero series went on to become a hit, and before long, the team at Shueisha drummed up another hit run. Gege Akutami kept tabs on the competition before he brought Jujutsu Kaisen to life in 2018. Both series have now come to an end, and in a recent chat, Akutami revealed which scene in My Hero Academia left the biggest impression on him.

The revelation comes from Shonen Jump‘s latest issue as the magazine posted an interview for Jump Next Generation. It was there Akutami was interviewed given his status atop the manga industry. When asked about the magazine’s best fights, Akutami pointed out My Hero Academia, and he said Mirko’s battle with the High-End Nomu left him speechless.

GEGE AKUTAMI HAS A CRUSH ON MIRKO

“At this time in the manga, Mirko was a character we had only seen once before in a lineup of other heroes. But the way she used her quirk tenaciously and aggressively to fight the Nomu who was throwing out strong quirks caught the attention of readers,” Akutami explained.

Continuing, the Jujutsu Kaisen creator went on to detail why Mirko’s battle left such an impression. The heroine’s rough attitude made Akutami do a double take, and the intense battle set up how the manga’s Final War arc would look.

“This battle was fierce compared to the calm Endeavor Agency arc that came before, and it expanded on things mentioned before like the High-End Nomu that Endeavor fought and even the country’s top heroes. This [fight] exploded Mirko’s popularity, and at the same time, the brutal plus-ultra battle showed readers how things were going to intensify from then on.”

Of course, Akutami is spot on with his prediction. The creator of Jujutsu Kaisen know a thing or three about telegraphing, and My Hero Academia foreshadowed the future with Mirko’s fight. The battle with brutal as both the hero and the villains went back and forth. From lost limbs to blood loss and brutal injuries, Mirko’s fight was one of the most intense of the entire series. So for Akutami, the tonal shift caught his eye ASAP.

DID MY HERO ACADEMIA INFLUENCE JUJUTSU KAISEN?

You may be curious as to why the manga fandom is putting such a focus on Akutami’s latest My Hero Academia push, but the answer is very simple. In the past, the Jujutsu Kaisen creator has said his hit manga would not exist without My Hero Academia. When the superhero manga ended, Akutami posted a thank-you note to Kohei Horikoshi, and he told the My Hero Academia creator this: “Jujutsu Kaisen would not exist without My Hero Academia. Congratulations.”

My Hero Academia made its debut four years before Jujutsu Kaisen hit the scene, and Akutami spent that time reading Horikoshi’s work. Everything from the manga’s pacing to its fight choreography inspired Akutami to make his own manga. And thus, Jujutsu Kaisen was born. The supernatural series went on to become a best-seller at Shonen Jump, and its tenure came to a close earlier this year after a six-year run.

Now, our question is how would Mirko fair in a fight against Akutami’s top fighters. Just imagine how a battle between Mirko and Todo would go. The two fighters would destroy themselves in the pursuit of victory, so honestly? We won’t say no to this match made in heaven.

What do you think about Akutami’s confession? Did Mirko’s fight against the High-End Nomu take you by surprise? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Throughout the month of October WWE Superstar Zelina Vega is teaming with ComicBook for a special series, sharing first looks at her cosplays as the Halloween season draws closer. There are less than two weeks to go until the spooktacular day and over the course of the past few weeks, she’s shared jaw-dropping cosplays from Sailor MoonNaruto, My Hero Academia, and Tokyo Ghoul.

This week, Zelina brings us on a journey to Sendai City with her Gojo cosplay from Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen. In her look which you can see in full below, she focuses on his shades, a key part of his character that acts as his armor. Not only that, she’s rocking his all-black suit which really makes the contrasting white eyelashes and eyebrows pop.

“As Megan Thee Stallion said, ‘Can’t touch me, like Gojo!’ Your cosplay queen is back at it again with Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Like many others, I fell for Gojo pretty quickly. Similarly to Kakashi, I love the hint of mystery with these characters, whether that’s in their backstories or literally hiding a part of their face,” Zelina tells ComicBook. “Gojo is both funny AND bad ass, YOWAI MO! Plus, anybody who literally cannot be touched will always be dope to infinity. I couldn’t do Halloween without having my cat (Totty) and I both doing a Gojo cosplay. Two different versions to really cover our bases!”

Credit: Zelina Vega

Totty, one of Zelina’s sweet fur babies, sports Gojo’s blindfolded look which is one of his most recognizable. Why does he wear the blindfold you might ask? Gojo has the Six Eyes ability — a rare technique that allows him to track cursed energy and manipulate it. If he keeps his eyes unprotected and uncovered for long, he will weaken quickly. But don’t worry, it doesn’t mess with his sight much — he’s able to see directly through the dark piece of fabric. Not only that, given his prestigious bloodline, he inherited Limitless as well. In other words, he’s super freaking powerful.

Who is Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen?

MAPPA’s Jujutsu Kaisen

Gojo is a vital character in the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga. A teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High, he is one of the most powerful beings in the series’ universe and has been since he was born. His unique abilities outlined above put a target on his back and bounty hunters have tried — unsuccessfully — to claim the $100 million bounty.

As he’s grown older, the Gojo Clan member has a very complex personality. To his students he’s rather mischievous, cracking jokes and always lending a helping hand. However when faced with the old leaders, he turns quite cold and bitter. Jujutsu Kaisen fans love peeling back his many layers like an onion, and this has made him a fan favorite as his character has evolved.

Keep up with all of Zelina’s cosplays past and present (like her Queen of the Damned Akasha look) on her X and Instagram accounts!

Luckily, the anime adaptation still has a big future ahead of it and could warrant several seasons and/or movies that will follow its source material. In releasing new chapters for years, creator Gege Akutami was hard at work in creating this supernatural shonen series and ran into issues that have become a little too normal for manga artists. In a recent release, Akutami’s past hiatus was explained.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga was more than a hit, it was a runaway success for Shonen Jump, quickly rising the ranks of the manga publication in record time. First arriving in 2018, the anime adaptation arrived two years later thanks to Studio MAPPA and became one of the biggest television series in the medium. Last year, Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season came to an end by telling the tale of the Shibuya Incident Arc, a storyline that was more than willing to take some big heroes and villains off the board. With season three set to focus on the arc known as the Culling Game, things are only heating up for Yuji and those who survived Shibuya.

MAPPA

The Jujutsu Kaisen Hiatus Explained

In the final arc, Yuji Itadori faced down his “darker half” as Sukuna decided to jump out of his previous body and instead chose Megumi Fushiguro as his new vehicle. Following the release of chapter 262, creator Gege Akutami placed the manga on hiatus for three weeks. During this time and beyond, manga readers did not know the true reasoning behind why the fight needed such a long break as Jujutsu Kaisen neared its conclusion.

According to the 28th volume of Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga, Gege was hospitalized in June of this year for an appendix removal surgery. Despite the surgery, Akutami proved that they were committed to bringing Jujutsu Tech’s story to a close. Now that Yuji Itadori and Jujutsu Tech have ended their story, Gege has more than earned their retirement from the popular shonen series.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Anime Future Breakdown

The third season of Jujutsu Kaisen has yet to confirm when we can expect it to arrive but believing it will do so in 2025 might be a dream at this point. Studio MAPPA has a lot on its plate between Jujutsu Kaisen, Hell’s Paradise, Chainsaw Man, and more, meaning that Jujutsu Tech’s return might still be some time away. If we continue to follow along with the source material, it might mean that we will receive two more anime seasons and potentially a movie to wrap up the story.

In terms of a sequel, Gege Akutami hasn’t confirmed that they plan on returning to the Jujutsu Tech universe. Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending is one that is quite definitive for all the characters involved, even with quite a few survivors. Luckily, Akutami hasn’t closed the book entirely on creating new stories as the artist’s farewell messages did ask fans to look forward to their future works in the manga game. What these stories might be is anyone’s guess though it certainly seems as though Gege has more ideas for stories that will leave Yuji Itadori and his friends to go on adventures that readers never experience.

Jujutsu Kaisen is the series that keeps on giving. From startling fan-theories to last-minute deaths, the hit series thrives off drama. Gege Akutami finally wrapped the epic tale this fall as fans across the globe tuned in to see how Yuji’s tale would end. And even after the end of the manga, Jujutsu Kaisen is finding ways to surprise us with help from new characters.

Oh yeah, that is right. Jujutsu Kaisen is over, but it is still introducing new characters to the series. In the latest volume of Jujutsu Kaisen, Akutami revealed Usami to the world, and we have learned a good bit about the mysterious sorcerer.

WHO IN THE HECK IS USAMI?

As you can see below, we got our first look at Usami with Jujutsu Kaisen volume 28. It was there Akutami ushered in the sorcerer after Kusakabe mentioned the character back in chapter 253. It was there the teacher said he and Usami are the strongest 1st Grade Sorcerers in the game, so fans were immediately on edge about the character. Sadly, Usami didn’t get a chance to show up in the manga, so Akutami took time to introduce the sorcerer after its ending.

Graced with slick black hair, Usami has rather gaunt features and a pronounced jawline. His eyes are sunken to a degree, and Usami’s sharp nose gives him a regal vibe. From the outside, you would not think much about Usami given his looks, but he ranks up with Kusakabe in terms of power.

Sadly, we don’t know what kind of cursed technique Usami is rocking. Jujutsu Kaisen volume 28 does not go into the character’s profile, but we do get some insight on him from others. Gojo is inked at one point talking about Usami, and he says he “absolutely can’t stand that person”, so Usami has done something to ire the sorcerer. As for Kusakbe, the man says Usami is someone who “only listens to orders from above” while Mei Mei dodges the question entirely. So while we don’t know much about his specific powers, Kusakabe has quite the reputation.

JUJUTSU KAISEN’S ENDING LEFT MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS

It is disappointing to see Jujutsu Kaisen introduce a powerhouse like Usami after its ending, but what can you do? Akutami had a clear vision for the manga, and in the end, its focus was always on Yuji. Gojo and Sukuna became main players in Yuji’s story, but they were not the main character. Jujutsu Kaisen brings Yuji’s adventure to a satisfying close, so Usami’s role (or lack thereof) is beside the point.

Still, the presence of Usami raises questions about jujutsu society as a whole. We clearly missed out on some major characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, and now more sorcerers are joining society following the Culling Game. From Sukuna’s rumored reincarnation to the revival of Getou, the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen left a lot of fans asking questions. And now, well – we can add this 1st Grade sorcerer to the list.

If you are not caught up with the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen, the series is easier now than ever to find. Akutami’s hit manga is done, and it can be read through Viz Media’s Shonen Jump app as well as Manga Plus. As far as the anime goes, Jujutsu Kaisen seasons one and two are streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix. Studio MAPPA is working on Jujutsu Kaisen season three, and it will bring the Culling Game arc to life.

What do you think about this last-minute Jujutsu Kaisen reveal? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

MAPPA

Studio MAPPA has become a major powerhouse in the anime world. Thanks to output including the likes of Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and many other anime adaptations, the production house hasn’t slowed down with its projects. With some major future projects confirmed with the likes of Lazarus, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, and Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc, MAPPA is working on a major anime revival for a classic series. The Rose of Versailles has long been a major Shojo series and Studio MAPPA is looking to breath new life into the franchise thanks to a new anime movie arriving in 2025.

For those unfamiliar with The Rose of Versailles, the series first was printed in 1972, making it quite an old-timer in the anime world. Despite this fact, the story of the original manga is a timeless one as is clear from MAPPA looking to resurrect the series. Much like Vinland Saga, The Rose of Versailles focuses its story on true events while creating original characters and an anime flair to real world happenings. The upcoming anime movie will take place during the French Revolution, initially focusing on none other than Marie Antoinette but also introducing original anime characters to the proceeding. Set to arrive in 2025, the upcoming anime film might be one of the biggest to hit Japanese theaters next year.

The Rose of Versailles Trailer

Studio MAPPA has shared a new trailer that not only revisits the original franchise but also shares what the revival will look like via the production house’s style. The movie itself will arrive on January 31st, 2025, though as of the writing of this article, no North American release date has been confirmed. The Rose of Versailles movie will be the first new anime adaptation for the franchise in decades so it’s sure to be a major event in the anime world.

How To Catch Up on The Rose of Versailles

The first anime adaptation for this shojo franchise arrived in 1979 and warranted forty episodes for Marie Antoinette’s anime “adventures”. If you want to watch it prior to the movie’s release next year, you have several options in terms of streaming services housing The Rose of Versailles. At present, the original shojo anime adaptation is streaming on Pluto TV, Retro Crush, Plex, and Freevee, meaning you won’t have to subscribe to a service to check out this classic series.

MAPPA

Studio MAPPA’s Future

MAPPA has become a household name thanks in part to taking in quite a few properties while also supplying some amazing animation in the process. As mentioned earlier, the production house will be returning to some of its heavy hitters including Jujutsu Kaisen for its Culling Game in season three, Hell’s Paradise for its second season, and Chainsaw Man for the first film of the franchise.

In 2022, Studio MAPPA’s CEO, Manabu Otsuka, discussed the future of the studio with Crunchyroll. As it stands today, the President’s predictions have come true, “Using our power to create anime, I would like for MAPPA to grow and expand our influence globally. Our goal is to have our anime be known and accepted worldwide, but as a company, we are not there yet. We hope to achieve that soon and for our company to continue to grow.” As MAPPA continues to grow, it will be interesting to see what other established anime the production house tackles down the line.

MAPPA's Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen has ended but luckily, there is plenty to dig into with regards to the series finale. In the final chapter, Satoru Gojo wasn’t brought back from the grave, following his death at the hands of Sukuna, but there is a silver lining for the deceased Jujutsu Tech teacher. In digging into the supernatural shonen series past, keen-eyed readers were able to discover a past dream of Gojo’s and even though he is no longer in the land of the living, it would appear that his hopes for the future have come true. Considering Yuji Itadori, Megumi, and Nobara survived the fight against the cursed king, this is about the happiest ending shonen fans could get.

In Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter, Chapter 271, Nobara, Megumi, and Yuji find themselves taking part in a relatively calm “battle” against a cursed energy user. Once they confront the small-time villain, the target immediately gives up without any fight whatsoever. While a good chunk of the chapter focuses on Sukuna and Mahito having a meeting in the great beyond, readers are given one final look at those who survived to see the future. The Jujutsu Tech students are looking to forge a future that is far better than the past they fought against and in doing this, Gojo’s dream world might have been created.

Satoru Gojo’s Dream

In a previous chapter of the successful shonen series, Satoru Gojo laid out his dream. In the featured quote, Gojo wanted nothing more than a new world and despite the fact that he isn’t alive to see it, a bright future lies ahead for his students, “I have a dream. I’m gonna reset this crappy Jujutsu world. I need strong and intelligent allies. I need to foster them.”

Is There A Shadow Over Gojo’s Dream?

Much like Hajime Isayama and his creation, Attack on TitanGege Akutami hasn’t hinted at the idea that Jujutsu Kaisen will receive a sequel series in the future. Despite this fact, Jujutsu Tech’s final chapter ends with a disturbing revelation that one of Sukuna’s fingers had “survived”, placed into a spot very reminiscent of the preliminary chapters. While Sukuna might have died and passed on, perhaps a new king of curses will emerge though it seems like these are stories that anime fans will never see.

The ending has been quite controversial for many fans, especially when it comes to Satoru Gojo. For many readers, fans were crossing their fingers that a resurrection was in store for Gojo but alas, Satoru’s dream might be the only lasting legacy for the all-powerful hero. Even if Gojo never returns, his presence in the anime world will remain for years to come as he is arguably the most popular character created by Gege Akutami, even in death.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Details

While the manga might have wrapped, Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime still has quite a few events and battles to cover before it to ends. Immediately following the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season and the Shibuya Incident Arc, Studio MAPPA wasted little time in confirming that a third season was in the works. At present, the production house hasn’t revealed when we might expect the third season to hit the small screen, though the main arc of the upcoming episodes, the Culling Game, will be well worth the wait.

For some time here on ComicBook.com, we have documented Universal Studios Japan and their various anime events over the years. In these writings, we have also been very jealous of the fact that none of these attractions appeared to be making their way to North America. Luckily, we have the privilege of reporting that not only is anime coming to Universal Studios Hollywood, but two major shonen franchises will be joining the Western amusement park in 2025. Universal Fan Fest Nights is set to be one of the theme park’s biggest events and the anime additions are sure to help push it over the top.

Both One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen have been major shonen players in the anime world, so it makes sense that the two franchises are making the jump from Japan to California. The two anime franchises are set to arrive at Universal Studios Hollywood on April 25th, 2025 and will remain for a limited time until May 18th, 2025. While this doesn’t mean that anime is set to be a permanent part of Universal Studios Hollywood, it’s a great sign that the medium is finally making its way to North America.

Universal Studios Hollywood x Anime

Here’s how Universal Studios describes the upcoming Fan Fest Event, which will now include One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen, “Universal Fan Fest Nights comes to life from the innovative creators of the theme park’s successful Halloween Horror Nights event. This all-new, interactive, separately ticketed event is an ideal adventure for guests of all ages and will capture the compelling worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, anime and cosplay, and invite theme parks guests and fans to partake in all-original and immersive, in-world experiences. And just like Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Fan Fest Nights will present all experiences simultaneously throughout the theme park each night of the event for guests to enjoy. One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen will join previously announced experiences, including Star Trek™, Back to the Future and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS as well as all-new experiences to debut within the theme park’s magical land The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.”

Universal Studios Hollywood also described what the Straw Hat Pirates and Jujutsu Tech are bringing to the amusement park:

  • One Piece: This experience is inspired by the long-running global hit anime series, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, and follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates crew on their epic quest to find “One Piece,” the legendary treasure of the former King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen: This experience is also inspired by the widely popular Japanese manga and its anime adaptation follows high school student Yuji Itadori after he accidently become the host of a powerful curse and joins Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses.

Universal Studios’s Anime History

As previously mentioned, Universal Studios Japan has seen its fair share of attractions that honor some of the biggest anime franchises. In recent memory, the theme park has recreated hits such as Attack on Titan, One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and almost too many others to list. Perhaps, should One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen’s arrival be successful, anime fans will get tthe chance to see other major anime franchises leaping to North America.

Yuji and Nobara in Jujutsu Kaisen's final chapter
jujutsu-kaisen-ending-questions.jpg

Jujutsu Kaisen has brought its manga to an end with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine after six years, and the final chapter of the series still left a pretty big question left unanswered that was not an issue until the final chapters. Gege Akutami brought the long running action series to an end following a few weeks of special epilogue chapters that explored the immediate fallout of the fight against Sukuna. Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki return to their normal lives, and the rest of the surviving Jujutsu Sorcerers are now moving on with their respective futures as well.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s final few chapters raised some questions that were wrapped up by the end of the final chapter. While there are still a few big mysteries that never got solved, there’s one in particular that feels a bit egregious considering it wasn’t even an issue until the final chapters. With the surviving Jujutsu Sorcerers from the Culling Game moving on with their lives following the end of the deadly tournament, it was revealed that Fumihiko Takaba survived his fight with Kenjaku. Even going as far as forming a comedy duo with someone who looked a lot like Kenjaku, and unfortunately the ending doesn’t come close to revealing what that was all about.

jujutsu-kaisen-ending-questions.jpg
Yuji and Nobara in Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter

Jujutsu Kaisen: Did Geto or Kenjaku Come Back to Life?

With how many characters that had either come back from the brink of death, or revived entirely, through Jujutsu Kaisen‘s run, the look at a potential Suguru Geto or Kenjaku in the epilogue chapters seemed like it was teasing that one of them was revived as well. Kenjaku was defeated by Yuta Okkotsu off-panel, and just as how Takaba’s death was played off like a joke, this also could have been the case. With Takaba forming a comedy duo with a person that looks just like Kenjaku, it made sense as the two of them had figured out that they both had similar humor during their confrontation.

But with it raised the question of what was actually happening there. The end of the Culling Game left the surviving players still roaming around Japan, and Yuji and the others would be steadily dealing with them in the future. But as the series ended, this question of who this mystery person was is still unanswered. It ultimately might not matter for the long term finale and the implications that the series has left for its world’s future, but it sure is a problem that didn’t need to exist.

Did Jujutsu Kaisen Have a Bad Ending?

This coupled with the fact that the series is ending with so many other questions is leaving fans with some mixed feelings about how it all has come to an end overall. Funny enough, the biggest question of all after Jujutsu Kaisen‘s ending is whether or not it was actually a good one. All the ideas for the finale seem to make sense as Yuji and the others have a happy ending that lets them head into a much brighter future than when it all began, but it’s the many characters left unresolved that fans have issues with.

Takaba’s ending being left like this is just another one on top of the pile of the other characters that fans had been curious about. With the likes of Kenjaku, Gojo, and more not seemingly getting their proper respective conclusions, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s ending feels like a failure. But it’s because of these last second moves that fans will be thinking back on for years to come,

While Suguru Geto might have been the puppet master responsible for Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season storyline, the Shibuya Incident Arc, perhaps no villain was as despised as the cursed energy user’s right-hand man, Mahito. Responsible for the death of Nanami and the severe injuring of Nobara, the flesh-manipulating villain was luckily taken down by Yuji Itadori and was, ironically enough, killed by Geto. Mahito wouldn’t find his way back to life to participate in the fight against Sukuna but creator Gege Akutami had a special final appearance for the villain that might throw readers for a loop.

Warning. If you are only following Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime, be forewarned that we will be exploring some massive spoiler territory for the series finale of the manga. When Mahito perished, many anime fans left out a breath of relief as the joyous antagonist had caused his fair share of pain and torment in Shibuya. Unfortunately, he was not killed by Yuji Itadori himself but was absorbed by Geto, adding Mahito’s strength to himself. In the final chapter, readers are able to see Mahito waiting for Sukuna in the afterlife, a scene that was reminiscent of the king of curses have a chat with Jogo in the second season.

mahito.jpg

Mahito: One Last Time

As Mahito sat in the void, he had some final questions for Sukuna, as the pair had talks in the past during the supernatural shonen series. Mahito stated, “I wanted to ask you something, Sukuna. You were lying weren’t you? To yourself and others? About just living as befits your nature? I think your life was about revenge against everyone who scorned you as an abomination.”

In a surprising twist, Sukuna states that should he be reincarnated, he would take a new path and attempt to “change how he lives”. Mahito isn’t the biggest fan of this answer, yelling in frustration, “But that’s boring! You’re gonna settle down? But then I’m the only unruly child left!” Since Mahito can’t let his hatred go, it would seem that he will be spending an eternity in the void, unable to find the peace that he would need to move on. Ironically enough, Mahito has the final line of the series during this exchange, showing that even though he has been dead for some time, he still played a significant role.

imageedit-16-4753546103.jpg

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Details

While Mahito might not return to the anime for its third season, Studio MAPPA is still pushing forward with continuing Jujutsu Kaisen’s wildly successful anime adaptation. MAPPA has been tight-lipped when it comes to the third season’s release date but the studio did confirm its subject matter. Thanks to Suguru Geto’s actions in season two, the Culling Game is on its way and the survivors of Shibuya will have even more problems on their hands.

If you need an introduction to the Culling Game, the storyline will assemble quite a few cursed energy-wielders to fight one another under some wild rules. Even though Yuji was able to survive Shibuya, this doesn’t mean that he will have a leg up during the Culling Game as Jujutsu Tech is out to kill both him and his lesser half Sukuna. Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s Yuta Okkotsu has made his debut in the television series and has been given the role of Yuji’s executioner, turning up the heat for the upcoming third season.

The Future of Jujutsu Kaisen

Fans of the series are probably aware that the final chapter of the manga was released last week, on Sunday, September 29th. Chapter 271 went live, and the ambitious ending has left fans feeling satisfied. The creator, Gege Akutami, thanked his fans with a special drawing of Yuji Itadori, closing his impressive run with a note of gratitude.

Now, fans of the anime await the third season. Although the studio in charge of the anime did confirm a season 3 sometime ago, news about when has been pretty nonexistent. Hopefully Studio MAPPA will give us an update soon, some even speculating that we’ll hear something during Jump Festa 2025.

Until then, Jujutsu Kaisen remains frozen in our memory – just like the high school Gojo and Geto action figures above – and hopefully our happy memories of seasons 1 and 2 will be enough to hold us over til 2025. Or, if you really can’t wait, check out the manga, which should be available on the Shonen Jump app or Manga Plus

Jujutsu Kaisen has officially ended its run with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump after six years, and now there’s a big question raised over whether or not series creator Gege Akutami brought it to a satisfying end. Jujutsu Kaisen is now one of the biggest modern franchises to come out of Shonen Jump magazine. Not only has the series crossed over 100 million copies of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga sold by the end of its run, but it’s undoubtedly going to leave a void in the manga as many fans will seek out their next major action series to check out each week.

Thanks to the success of the TV and feature film anime adaptations that have debuted since Jujutsu Kaisen started years ago, the franchise is now at the highest peak it ever will be. That’s ultimately why the ending is going to feel unsatisfying to many. Like some of the other major endings before it that seemed to end right as they were getting popular (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ending just as the anime franchise was blowing up, for example), Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending feels abrupt as fans aren’t ready to see it go. But it could have planned for its grand finale better to alleviate some of the issues fans have with its final chapters.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-ending-yuji-sukuna.jpg
Yuji and Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen

What Happened to Jujutsu Kaisen?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271 ends with Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaka returning to their normal lives and completing the standard kind of curse elimination mission that they started out with in the beginning of the series. It comes at the tail end of a few epilogue chapters exploring the fallout of the fight against Sukuna, and sees Yuji and the others approach the future with clear path for Jujutsu society to improve overall after everything that’s gone down. It leaves quite a few questions unanswered, and that’s the sticking point that’s hard to ignore.

Like many Shonen Jump series, Gege Akutami has had to adapt his story week after week. It’s why some plot ideas and teases never seem to come to fruition. Some ideas might have been in development at an earlier stage, then perhaps abandoned due to the ever changing demands of the readers and editorial. It’s a collaborative effort, and it means that a manga story like Jujutsu Kaisen isn’t one straight shot to the end. It ebbs and flows, and often goes in directions that even a creator might not have expected. It’s why in some interviews you’ll hear creators being surprised by the actions their character might take in any given moment. While they might have an ending in mind (which Akutami was said to have had at the start of the year), it’s getting there that is always in flux.

And this is ultimately why the ending might not be satisfying to many. There was a big shift in the Shijuku Showdown that suddenly seemed to indicate that the series was going to be getting to its ending before Shueisha themselves confirmed this was the case. Kenjaku was introduced early on in the series and seemed like a secondary antagonist to Sukuna. While Sukuna was always set to be the final foe, Kenjaku was going to be a huge enemy on the way to get to that final fight. The Culling Game seemed to bring all of this to the forefront, as Kenjaku was readying to reveal what he had been working on since the Shibuya Incident.

Jujutsu Kaisen fans had been teased about all of this chaos merging into a massive curse, and it was supposed to be the culmination of Kenjaku’s master plan. But during the Shinjuku Showdown, this was suddenly thrown out in favor of an off-panel Kenjaku death and Sukuna outright telling the audience that the merge just wasn’t going to matter or happen. It’s this throwing out of what seemed like a full plan that made the ending feel like it was coming too fast. Coupled with the sudden announcement of the ending, and it’s clear that it was the path to the ending is what really got fumbled here

Is Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending Bad?

When looking at the final chapter itself, it’s a fittingly small ending for the series. Jujutsu Kaisen has been one intense fight after another for basically the second half of its run, so slowing down after all of that chaos was really the only way it could all end. Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara have been fighting against their fates to have a happy ending, and they got this in the finale. Gojo wanted them to have a bright future where they could form a whole new path for Jujutsu sorcery, and that’s exactly what Yuji and the others plan to do now that they have returned to their normal lives.

Sukuna has been defeated, and he’s no longer a threat. That means it’s going to be free of huge conflicts, and fans can rest easy knowing that this main story ends here on a happier note. It’s not the ending that’s an issue, it’s just that fans wanted much more before it ended. The Kenjaku stuff being thrown out was a major drawback, and it was further exacerbated by the uncertainty of the Satoru Gojo situation. Following his defeat, fans had debated back and forth for months over whether or not his fate was truly final. His body was brought back to life as Yuta Okkotsu piloted it like a meat mecha, and it meant that Gojo’s brain ended up getting tossed out or thrown in a jar somewhere.

Then with the series ending, his final appearance was a spoken flashback scene but fans never get that final conclusive piece of getting to see his body laid at rest. It’s sort of standard for the series to kill off its characters and to not have time to properly mourn them, but it’s supposed to be different in the finale. We see the epilogue chapters giving time for proper send offs to other characters, so one lacking for Gojo feels egregious given how popular he was. But Gojo’s final words have him outright tell Yuji that he hopes he’s forgotten about. It thematically works for the ending, and thus is a proper send off in that way.

So it’s not the finale itself that you might be struggling to accept, it was the path there. Something in the fight against Sukuna or Kenjaku felt like it was lacking, and it might be because of so much potential left on the table to explore. It’s the death of that potential that fans are mourning, and right now they are angrily taking it out on the final chapter itself. But in time, everyone will move on and see the forest for the trees.

Even if you haven’t been following Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga, it should come as no surprise that the king of curses, Sukuna, was ultimately the “big bad” of the series. While villains like Suguru Geto and Mahito had their fair share of evil deeds that plagued the likes of Yuji Itadori during the supernatural shonen series, none were as powerful as Sukuna. In Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter, readers are given the chance to bid a fond farewell to the sorcerers and such is the case with Sukuna. In his final words, supernatural shonen fans might be surprised at what the king of the curses had to say.

Warning. If you haven’t read the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga, Chapter 271, be forewarned that we will be exploring massive spoilers for the series. Sukuna might be dead but passing off this mortal coil has never stopped Jujutsu Tech characters from offering some words from beyond the grave. Thanks to Yuji, Nobara, and countless other heroes joining forward, the king of the curses’ grasp on Megumi was lost and Sukuna did the unthinkable: he died. Entering into whatever afterlife awaits curses, Sukuna is greeted by an unexpected villain as Mahito has some words to share with the cursed king.

Sukuna’s Last Words

In greeting Sukuna, Mahito is surprised to see that the king of curses arrived before any of his potential victims to the afterlife. Rather than attacking Sukuna, Mahito asks the villain an important question, “You were lying, weren’t you? To yourself and others? About just living as befits your nature? I think your life was about revenge against everyone who scorned you as an abomination.”

Sukuna is more than happy to respond, sharing his last words as ones that readers might not have seen coming, “It amounts to the same thing. That is my nature. I know no other way. No, that’s wrong. I could have chosen how to live. I had two chances, but I had to vomit out the curse writhing in my entrails. I was afraid of immolation by my own curse. If there’s a next time, maybe I’ll change how I live. Of course. After all, I lost.” Sukuna then walks into the abyss, but one big thread from the big bad remains.

jujutsu-kaisen-sukuna.jpg

Will Sukuna Return?

Following Mahito having an outburst that he is the only curse unable to move on, we are given glimpses at some of the series biggest characters in their final panels. The likes of Yuji, Yuta, Megumi, Nobara, and those who survive the Sukuna fight are given what is essentially the happiest ending they could grasp. Of course, the final panel is one that leads many readers to think that the king of curses isn’t done with this world.

Creator Gege Akutami’s final panel of Jujutsu Kaisen focuses on a surviving finger of Sukuna’s, featured in a tiny, wooden standee. This panel doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll see a sequel to the shonen series but it does hint at the idea that the cursed king isn’t through with playing some role in the universe’s future. Whether or not we see Gege Akutami return to this specific story, the impact that Jujutsu Kaisen has had on the anime world cannot be overstated.

Gojo Satoru is a rather complicated character. When we met the sorcerer, Jujutsu Kaisen fans weren’t sure what to make of him. The white-haired prodigy was confident in his power, and we saw Gojo troll his students more often than not. However, as the series continued, Gojo found himself becoming a mascot for the franchise. These days, the sorcerer is the most popular character in Jujutsu Kaisen by far, and that is why fans are asking whether the manga’s final chapter did the character dirty.

If you did not realize, the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen went live this week after a six-year run. Gege Akutami, the manga’s creator, brought Yuji’s story to an end with a poignant finale. Many expected the chapter to dovetail with Gojo, but sadly, nothing of the sort happened. The loose threads dangling around Gojo have sparked a firestorm online, and to be honest, it is easy to see why fans of the Six Eyes user are upset.

Where Did Jujutsu Kaisen Leave Gojo?

For those who have finished Jujutsu Kaisen, you will know its final arc and epilogue put Gojo through the wringer. After the hero was freed from the Prison Realm, Gojo was thrust into the fire once more as he trained to fight Sukuna. The Shinjuku Showdown arc let Gojo flex his power, but in the end, he was killed by Sukuna. For a year, fans waited for word on Gojo to no relief. This waiting game kept up in the epilogue as Jujutsu Kaisen barely acknowledged the man’s death. And in its final chapter, Gojo was only given a short flashback that sparked anger online.

gojo-jjk.jpg

For more than a year, Jujutsu Kaisen left fans in the dark about Gojo, and it went so far as to tease them with his return only to find Yuta was at the wheel. The disrespect began to wear on fans, and by the time Jujutsu Kaisen began its epilogue, the desire to see Gojo hit a high. The arc brought about several shocking character returns, and several convincing theories about Gojo’s return sprouted online. Even if the sorcerer was dead-dead, fans expected Jujutsu Kaisen to have a clear memorial for the sorcerer, but that did not happen.

In the end, Gojo died a quiet death, and his passing was left in limbo for over a year. Jujutsu Kaisen failed to recognize the teacher’s death beyond a few final letters. And when chapter 271 dropped its flashback with Gojo, the fandom rallied together under a damning banner. Gojo Satoru deserved a better ending.

Gojo Satoru Deserved Better

Ignoring the character’s sheer popularity, Gojo earned so much more than he was given at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen. The epilogue played out his farewell quietly, but that tone did not suit Gojo or his accomplishments. Sure, when we first met Gojo, the character was childish to a fault. However, it did not take long for fans to realize Gojo’s juvenile personality was a front. Gojo’s life was dictated by jujutsu society, and though he wanted to break free of the system, he stayed chained in hopes of making a better future for his students.

In previous guidebooks, Jujutsu Kaisen revealed Gojo is the busiest man in the series as he sleeps about three hours a day. The rest of the time? Gojo dedicates himself to training students, taking on missions, and doing administrative work for his clan. We can joke about Gojo all we want, but the dude has an insane work ethic. He did the work so others would not need to, and while teaching, Gojo never lost sight of his goal. He wanted to create a world where jujutsu sorcerers were not chained to curses, and Gojo helped create that world by the manga’s end.

Would it have been nice for Gojo to see that future? Yes. Is that our choice? No. Many fans wish Gojo survived the series, but his death is not the thing readers are hung up on. After his passing, Gojo’s hard work has barely noted in the epilogue. From Megumi to Yuji and even Shoko, no solid funeral was given to Gojo. He spent his life being a weapon, and despite dying to change society, Gojo’s sacrifice was overlooked in the end. It is this slight that Jujutsu Kaisen fans cannot forgive. And at the end of the day, the series has no good reason for why it shafted Gojo until the very end.

What do you think about the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen? Did it do Gojo justice? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Jujutsu Kaisen has officially come to an end after six years, and the creators of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine have said their goodbyes to the manga series. Gege Akutami’s original manga first hit the pages of the magazine back in 2018, and has since become one of the standout action franchises in the magazine overall. As it ends, it’s now leaving Shonen Jump in a much different place than when it first began. The series still remaining in the magazine are relatively young in their respective runs, and it’s made for an interesting kind of future as we wait to see what the next big thing will be

With Jujutsu Kaisen officially coming to an end with its latest chapter, Shonen Jump was filled with special goodbye messages from the other creators in the manga. This included not only Gege Akutami sharing a final author’s comment, but also tributes from Kagurabachi creator Takeru Hokazono, Blue Box creator Kouji Miura, Sakamoto Days creator Yuto Suzuki, and more. Each of the special messages showcases how big of an impact Jujutsu Kaisen had on fans and other manga creators alike, and you can check them out below as translated by Viz Media

Shonen Jump’s Creators Say Goodbye to Jujutsu Kaisen

  • Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami – “It’s the final chapter! Thank you for all your support! I’ll do my best to prepare for the next challenge!”
  • Blue Box creator Kouji Miura – “The anime starts 10/3! Please check it out. And congratulations to Akutami Sensei!”
  • Nue’s Exorcist creator Kota Kawae – “Congratulations on concluding Jujutsu Kaisen! It was an honor to share the magazine pages with you!”
  • The Elusive Samurai creator Yusei Matsui – “Well done, Akutami Sensei! I’m sure you have a lot more where that came from, so please return quickly!”
  • Sakamoto Days creator Yuto Suzuki – “Congratulations for six and a half years of amazing manga! I was captivated every week. It’s the coolest manga ever!”
  • Akane-banashi creator Takamasa Moue – “I look up to you as a super-popular manga creator from the same Digimon generation. A job well done, Akutami Sensei!”
  • Kagurabachi creator Takeru Hokazono – “Getting Todo into my life has definitely made it much better. My weekly pleasures are disappearing one by one…”
  • Mission: Yozakura Family creator Hitsuji Gondaira – “I wanted to smell the inside of Jogo’s earplugs. Probably a sweet fragrance of earth like bizen pottery.”
  • Astro Royale creator Ken Wakui – “Akutami Sensei! Congratulations on six and a half years! Jump without Jujutsu Kaisen will be quite sad!”
  • Hima-Ten! creator Genki Ono – “Akutami Sensei, congratulations on an amazing run. It was an honor for me to share the magazine pages with you.”
  • Ichi the Witch writer Osamu Nishi – “It was an honor to watch you running ahead of me. Congratulations on the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen!”
  • Undead Unluck creator Yoshifumi Tozuka – “I love the expressions, dialogue, and emotions that you created, Akutami-san! Congratulations on six and a half years of amazing work!”
  • Me & Roboco creator Shuhei Miyazaki – “I was cursed by your awesomeness! Thank you for everything! Idle Transfiguration!”
  • Witch Watch creator Kenta Shinohara – “Congratulations, Akutami Sensei. Get some rest and please make your way back to Hell St.”

What’s Next for Shonen Jump?

With Jujutsu Kaisen now over, Shonen Jump is going to be looking for a series that can somehow fill the gap left by it and My Hero Academia, which ended earlier this Summer. It’s possible that any one of these creators could reach this new level that these action franchises have reached, but it’s still fairly early into all of their runs. It’s only been about three years at most for many of these series, and some of them are finally making their anime debuts to take it all to the next level. Jujutsu Kaisen ended without any potential continuation on the time, so it’s going to be a clear path to the top from here on out for those remaining in the magazine.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga has officially come to an end with its final chapter, and with it has revealed a final look at Sukuna before it was all over. Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga officially ended its run with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine after six years, and with it fans got to see how it all ended for Yuji Itadori and the rest of the surviving Jujutsu Sorcerers. Jujutsu Kaisen ended the fight against Sukuna some time ago, and thus has been spending the final few weeks of the series exploring the immediate fallout of everything that happened during the fight.

Sukuna’s defeat at the hands of Yuji and Nobara’s teamwork seemed to come hard and fast considering that the Jujutsu Sorcerers had been fighting the King of Curses for months worth of chapters, and Sukuna seemed to go out on his own terms as a curse rather than try to survive within Yuji’s body. But with the series coming to an end, there’s one final glimpse at Sukuna that further proves his threat has been completely squashed, and the future of the Jujutsu world will be much clearer without his interference from now on.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-ending-sukuna.jpg
Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter

What Happens to Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271 sees Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara settling a new Jujutsu curse mystery (their final mission in the series overall), and Yuji starts thinking about what the future of their world is going to look like without someone like Satoru Gojo within it. It’s up to those who have survived to carve out what the future is going to be, and it’s the same for the curses as well. Sukuna himself appears in what is described as the “passageway for the circulation of souls,” a dark void where he stumbles on Mahito, who also finds himself there.

Because both of their techniques had an impact on the soul, it left a residue that brought them to this dark new void in between worlds. It’s here that Mahito tells Sukuna that he believed that Sukuna was living his life for revenge. Rather than living just as he would naturally, Sukuna seemed to carry a grudge around with him. But now that he’s been defeated, Sukuna starts to see how he could have chosen to live an entirely different kind of life than the one he chose to live

What Happens to Sukuna Now?

Explaining that he had two chances to change his life, Sukuna felt like he was forced into his destructive path due to the nature of his cursed power. He then even posits that if he gets another chance, maybe he’ll take the opportunity to change his life. It’s here he’s seen with a visage of a younger Uraume, and the two walk off together into the void. It’s something Mahito doesn’t want to hear as Sukuna accepts his defeat, and Mahito himself is left within the darkness. So this essentially means that Sukuna will no longer be around as a threat as he no longer has a reason to return.

It’s why the final page of the series reveals that his final finger has been put in the same shrine it was supposed to be in the original series. Yuji did so because it’ll act as a ward to keep other spirits away, but it’s nowhere near as dangerous as it used to be. While it was wrapped and stored with caution before, Sukuna’s finger is just now in the open with a shrine that’s not really secure. Ultimately, it just doesn’t matter anymore. Sukuna has no interest in returning, and the Jujutsu world can move forward peacefully as the ghosts of the past return to whence they came

Jujutsu Kaisen has come to an end, and all eyes are on its final chapter. This week, creator Gege Akutami brought Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 to life, and it closes the book on Yuji’s journey. Since day one, the supernatural series has kept close tabs on Yuji as our hero found himself thrust into a world he never imagined. As the series came to a close, Yuji’s story was given a poignant conclusion, but don’t get hasty. Jujutsu Kaisen left a number of unanswered questions in the wake of its ending.

If you are caught up with Jujutsu Kaisen, then you will know how the manga bid farewell to readers. Chapter 271 brought Yuji together with Nobara and Megumi on a mission like so many others. Living in a world where curses are public, Team Gojo makes their late teacher proud in chapter 271, and the finale plays out from there. From a Gojo flashback to Sukuna’s reincarnation, the series sets up some big reveals, but it also fails to answer some burning questions.

Jujutsu Kaisen Left Lots of Questions Unanswered

Once Jujutsu Kaisen announced its ending, fans were quick to piece together a list of questions they felt needed answering. Some of those topics were covered by the manga’s epilogue, of course. The loss of Choso was covered, and we were told about the Culling Game’s fallout. However, plenty of things were not addressed, and we’ve singled out some of the worst offenses below:

  • Yuji Domain Expansion: In his fight with Sukuna, Yuji brought out a domain of his own, but we don’t have a name for it. To be frank, we are not sure of its sure-hit effect though many assume it is cleave. Whether an actual domain or a simple domain, we don’t know what technique Yuji has at his disposal these days.
  • Gojo and Geto Afterlife: During the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Gojo was killed, and the manga has doubled down on the death sticking. We were teased with a look at the afterlife or perhaps purgatory as Gojo reunited with Geto, Nanami, and others in an airport. The emotional scene suggested Gojo may return to life, but little discussion came from this aside. The afterlife might have been made vague on purpose, but even so, the questions left behind by Gojo and Geto’s reunion in death are valid.
  • Kenjaku’s Return: So Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 270 features Kenjaku, right? After we learn that Takaba is alive, a figure is shown with the sorcerer that looks just like Geto. From the hair to their physique, the body is all Geto, but their face is obscured. Jujutsu Kaisen fans have big questions about Kenjaku returning to Geto’s body and we cannot blame them.
  • The Great Merger and Kenjaku: Jujutsu Kaisen has a lot of villains, and Kenjaku is one of its most impressive bad guys. The sorcerer has been around for ages, and their plan to evolve mankind was nothing short of terrifying. From their ties to the U.S. government to the Great Merger, Kenjaku’s deal was shortchanged in the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, and fans still have questions about its fallout.
  • Sukuna’s Heian Origin: If there is one thing Jujutsu Kaisen fans wanted from the manga, it was a Heian era arc. The period was called the Golden Age of Jujutsu, and it brought characters like Sukuna center stage. We were given teasers about the Heian era throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, but plenty of big questions remain about its main players.

Is There More to Come for Jujutsu Kaisen?

Clearly, Jujutsu Kaisen left some big questions hanging with its ending, and fans are not letting them go. The manga’s epilogue crafted a solid ending for Yuji, but it failed to account for the story’s scope as a whole. We got some wholesome moments with Team Gojo, and its circular ending certainly provoked conversation with fans. But when looking at Jujutsu Kaisen as a whole, the finale fails to live up.

Of course, this feeling has spread across the fandom, leaving many to wonder if Jujutsu Kaisen will continue. No official word has been given on such a sequel, and no spin-offs have been announced either. Akutami deserves rest now that Jujutsu Kaisen is done, but a door has been left open for the series’ return. And if we are lucky, a sequel will walk through that door someday in the future.

What do you make of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s finale? Would you like the series to continue on with a sequel? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

After an impressive run, Jujutsu Kaisen has come to a close. In 2018, the world watched as Gege Akutami began laying out the hit series, and no one saw just how big the series would become. Jujutsu Kaisen is now one of the top-selling titles at Shueisha, but after a six-year run, its story has closed. The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen went live this week, and now Akutami is breaking his silence on the ambitious finale.

The update comes from Shueisha as the publisher posted a special note from Akutami. The creator posted an author’s note addressing Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271, and it was there Akutami asked fans to support him in the future as he posts new works.

“We’ve reach the end,” Akutami shared. “Thank you all for your support!! I’ll keep doing my best with my future works.”

jujutsu-kaisen.jpg

The End of Jujutsu Kaisen

As you can see above, Akutami paired his new note with an illustration of Yuji Itadori. The new art brings our hero to life in full color, and it is nice to see a smile on his face. Despite his scars, Yuji remains one of the most optimistic characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, and that is saying something. Our hero went to hell and back again throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, but he managed to keep his spark.

Of course, Jujutsu Kaisen has finally come full circle and rewarded Yuji for all his hard work. The manga came to a close this week with chapter 271, and the finale gives Yuji one-on-one time with his friends. Megumi and Nobara are back in the picture, so Team Gojo was reunited even after its leader’s death. The reunion felt natural as readers watched Yuji tackle the mission with his friends. From start to finish, the whole ordeal was lighthearted, so Jujutsu Kaisen gave Yuji a break at the very end.

In this latest illustration, Akutami also takes the time to thank fans for helping Jujutsu Kaisen reach a new milestone. The manga has reach 100 million copies in circulation, making it one of the highest-selling manga of all time. Clearly, Jujutsu Kaisen has some a long way from its humble roots, and Akutami is just getting started.

What Should Gege Akutami Do Next?

If you did not realize, Gege stumbled upon Jujutsu Kaisen relatively quickly in his career. The manga artist began working as a pro in 2014 when he posted a oneshot under Shueisha. From there, Akutami posted two more oneshots before he crafted his pitch for Jujutsu Kaisen. The series posted its draft in 2017 under Jump Giga before Jujutsu Kaisen was coined as the story’s official name. The title made its debut in 2018, and Jujutsu Kaisen became a hit before long.

During its six-year run, Jujutsu Kaisen became a focal piece of the manga fandom. Akutami navigated the unprecedented success with ease despite his short career. Now, it seems like Akutami is eager to move on to new projects. In his new note to fans, Akutami asks fans to continue supporting him as he tackles new works. At this point, no official word has been given about Akutami’s next series. You can bet on the artist taking a vacation now that Jujutsu Kaisen is done, but Akutami is hardly ready to retire. The artist will come back swinging before long, and when he does, it will be up to fans to show Akutami love.

What do you think of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s ending? Did the finale take you by surprise? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Jujutsu Kaisen has officially come to an end with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and the final chapter revealed the last ever words Satoru Gojo had said to Yuji Itadori. Gege Akutami’s original manga series has officially wrapped up its run with Shueisha over six years since the series first began, and with the final chapter wrapped up a few more loose ends left over from everything that happened with the fight against Sukuna. It’s been a string of intense arcs for Yuji and the other surviving sorcerers, so the final chapters have seen them heading out into their bright futures.

Jujutsu Kaisen has been spending the final few chapters of its run seeing Yuji, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki recover from everything that happened during the Shinjuku Showdown, and for the first time, the final chapter is allowing them to actually think about the future. Now that Sukuna has been defeated and the nature of the Curses they’ll be dealing with from now on has changed as well, Yuji thinks back to Gojo’s final words to him as he starts to piece together what kind of future could be ahead of them from that point on

Satoru Gojo and Yuji Itadori for Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter

Jujutsu Kaisen: What Are Gojo’s Final Words?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271 sees Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara tracking down a rather low level curse threat compared to what they have been facing. But upon defeating the user, Yuji looks at them and starts thinking back to his final conversation with Gojo. It’s here that Gojo revealed that his dream for the future is one where he ultimately doesn’t matter. If the worst were to happen to him, Gojo told Yuji that his dream for the future that Yuji and the other survivors carry on in their lives without him. He knows that everyone will continue to grow, and likely will surpass him anyway.

He wants them to forget him so that someone else can grow strong in completely different ways than him. He’s counting on Yuji to carry on in the future without him, and Yuji continues that trend by reaching out a hand to the curse user they’ve just defeated. Gojo wants Jujutsu society to change in the future, and knows that the newest generation and all those that follow will be the ones to usher in that change. So although he has completely died for good, and won’t ever be coming back despite what fans might have wanted, Gojo really didn’t care about that.

What Do Gojo’s Final Words Mean?

If there is anyone who knows about carrying on with your life after those around you die, it’s Gojo. Gojo’s six eyes have made him stand at the top of Jujutsu society for his entire life, and that’s offered him a perspective that few others can match. He’s seen how corrupt Jujutsu society had become thanks to those that led it, and it’s why he’s been pushing back against them from the very first time we seen him keep the likes of Yuta and Yuji from being executed due to their strict rules. It’s also why that ahead of his final fight against Sukuna, he decides to wipe out all the higher ups anyway.

With the higher ups gone and the three families losing their power after Sukuna, there’s a clean slate for the future of Jujutsu society. It’s going to be up to Yuji and the others to make this happen as they lead those in the future, and with the ghosts of the past finally taken down, Gojo’s final dream can truly become a reality soon enough.

Jujutsu Kaisen is finally over. Believe it or not, Gege Akutami has brought his hit series to an end after six years. It seems like yesterday that the world was introduced to Yuji, but at last, his journey has closed. Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 has lays out the final terms of the story, and netizens are already convinced it tees up a sequel. And if you Sukuna, well – anything is possible when it comes to the curse.

The whole thing came to light this week as Jujutsu Kaisen closed its final chapter. Shueisha ushered inchapter 271 as the manga’s rapt readers waited in the wings. After checking out the chapter in full, Jujutsu Kaisen does leave the door open for more content, but the question remains whether the series even needs a sequel.

Jujutsu Kaisen Sets Up a Compelling Sequel

As for the finale, it opens the door to a sequel thanks to Sukuna. We are shown a short aside with the King of Curses in the afterlife, and it is there Sukuna chats with Mahito. Reunited with Uraume, Sukuna reflects on his life as a curse, and he shocks everyone by admitting he could have lived life differently.

jujutsu-kaisen.png

“Should there be a next time, perhaps it would be nice to walk a different path,” Sukuna admitted before heading north towards the afterlife. And when he is accused of going soft, Sukuna simply says, “Obviously. I lost, after all.”

Sukuna moves on to the afterlife, and with his final words, he teases his interest in taking a different path. Mahito says the place he meets Sukuna in is a place for souls to convene after death. The space may be a holding spot for souls who have the ability to reincarnate. If that is the case, then Sukuna’s trip north put him on a trajectory to be reincarnated, so his run may not be over. But should the curse user come back, well – he might not be the villain we have come to know.

There is a definite track record for reincarnation in Jujutsu Kaisen. Most recently, we saw this truth come to light because of Sukuna. Yuji’s father was the reincarnation of Sukuna’s brother, and that bloodline was carried down to our hero. If Sukuna’s twin brother could be reincarnated, fans feel confident the King of Curses can do the same. Sukuna may get his chance to live life differently, and if Gojo also went north in the afterlife, the two could reunite years down the line.

Will Jujutsu Kaisen Receive a Sequel?

A window of opportunity has been left for Jujutsu Kaisen to pursue a sequel, but that does not mean it will happen. Akutami is no doubt ready to vacation as he’s worked hard for the last six years. As far as we know, no official word has been given about a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel, but the manga’s final chapter has raised big questions. The door is open for more content, but as is, the story of Jujutsu Kaisen has closed.

Yuji’s journey has come full circle, and that is the story we have been tracking since day one. The boy went through hell and back again to live up to his granddad’s final request. Yuji used his strength to save others, and when he dies at last, he will have a proper death. Jujutsu Kaisen‘s finale narrowed its focus on the boy, and chapter 271 proved Yuji will be fine as he moves forward. When it comes to the sorcerer, a sequel is hardly needed, but there is more to Jujutsu Kaisen than Yuji. From its reincarnation teaser to jujutsu society’s big shift, things are shaking up in the canon. And honestly, it would be nice to watch that future unfold with a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel.

What do you make of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s finale? Do you think the ending aligned with the fandom’s expectations? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

If there is one thing the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom loves, it is a good theory. For years now, the community has spun off tons of theories with help from series creator Gege Akutami. The artist’s story has been a hotbed for conspiracies for years now, and things only ramped up with the Shibuya Incident arc. This week, the fandom hit a high with its theories as Jujutsu Kaisen prepped its final chapter. And today, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 set the record straight about Gojo Satoru.

The whole thing came to light this weekend as Jujutsu Kaisen posted its final chapter. It was there Akutami bowed out the manga with a 24-page farewell. Many expected the finale to comment on Gojo’s future as dozens of theories convinced fans the sorcerer was not really dead. However, it turns out the Six Eyes user did die for good during the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

How Did Gojo Fit Into the Jujutsu Kaisen Finale?

As Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 hit shelves, readers were able to rummage through the finale for any sign of Gojo. The sorcerer does appear in the finale thanks to a flashback, and it is there we get Gojo’s final words to Yuji. Before going to Shinjuku, Gojo imparts his confidence in Yuji and passes his dream on to the boy. This decision allowed Gojo to enter battle with no regrets, and it safeguarded his ambitions against death’s looming hand.

Of course, Jujutsu Kaisen fans know what happened from there. Gojo put up one hell of a fight against Sukuna, but the King of Curses was too much for our hero. Gojo was cleaved in half by Sukuna, but the Six Eyes was not taken out of the fight entirely. Yuta managed to slip into Gojo’s corpse after he copied Kenjaku’s body-stealing technique. The back-up plan did serious damage to Sukuna, and in the end, it helped knock the curse just enough for Yuji’s crew to defeat him.

It has been more than a year since Jujutsu Kaisen killed Gojo Satoru, and many thought the series would revive the sorcerer somehow. From a Binding Vow to a deus ex machina resurrection, Jujutsu Kaisen brought a slew of sorcerers back to life in its epilogue. Tons of theories surfaced about Gojo’s own revival, but Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 has silenced them with a harsh rebuttal.

Gojo Deserves Better Than What He Got

The finale of Jujutsu Kaisen is a short piece of the manga’s overall epilogue, and fans have big emotions about it. Akutami has strung fans along with his tale for years, and in that time, the artist stressed his unpredictable nature. Jujutsu Kaisen had a lot of highs and lows outside of its final fast-paced arc. As the manga began its epilogue, plenty of fans felt Gojo’s revival was deserved, but Akutami took the story in a different direction.

Whether you like the hero or not, it is hard to reckon with Gojo’s death. Sure, the character has a juvenile attitude and could be flippant, but the Gojo we came to love had grown so much since his own teenage years. For most of his life, Gojo was treated as a tool for jujutsu society to use, and he internalized much of that pressure. This treatment pushed Gojo to revolutionize jujutsu society, and many fans wanted the sorcerer to experience that change firsthand. However, Gojo died quietly in Shinjuku, and his passing was hardly mentioned in the epilogue he died to make happen. So yeah, it is easy to see why Jujutsu Kaisen readers think Gojo got shafted in the end.

What do you think about this Jujutsu Kaisen finale? Did the ending meet your expectations? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

It is finally here. After six years, Jujutsu Kaisen has come to an end. Today, the world watched as Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 went live, and the finale turned its eye to Yuji Itadori. With jujutsu society in an upheaval, the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen gives us a peek at the future while bidding its past farewell. And in true fashion, the manga loads its last chapter with tons of subtle goodies.

As you can see now, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 is live and available on Viz Media’s Shonen Jump app. The series finale comes in at under 25 pages, and it begins with a familiar scene. After the war with Sukuna, Yuji and his team are back together, so chapter 271 begins with the gang completing a mission.

How Does Jujutsu Kaisen End?

After being called into the city, Yuji is brought face-to-face with the fallout of the Culling Game. The city is filled with residual curse energy, and that power is wreaking havoc amongst the population. A simple couple finds themselves targeted by curse energy at home, and it doesn’t take Megumi long to figure out that a wayward sorcerer is behind the ordeal. He and Yuji team with Nobara to lock down the rogue, and the Jujutsu Kaisen reunion feels oh-so good.

As the chapter continues, Yuji unpacks his final chat with Gojo that took place before the Shinjuku Showdown arc. It was there the Six Eyes inheritor imparted his will to Yuji, and the boy carries that torch in chapter 271. By stepping into Gojo’s last request, Yuji has set himself up as a new mentor for jujutsu society, so you know Gojo would be proud of his pupil.

Before the final chapter closes, Jujutsu Kaisen takes time to enter the afterlife, and it is there we reunite with Sukuna. The King of Curses reunites with Uraume and Mahito there, but things do not go as you might expect. Turning his back on Mahito, Sukuna chooses to go north much like Gojo did in the afterlife with his friends. Jujutsu Kaisen explains that going north after death allows a soul to reincarnate. Sukuna admits he is ready to settle down after being beaten, and we know Gojo felt much the same. So years down the line, perhaps these two souls will make their way back to life.

jujutsu-kaisen.png

And as for the final spread? Jujutsu Kaisen goes hard with a look at its reunited students. Yuta’s crew is back together, and the same goes for Hakari plus Yuji. As for the final page, we learn the fate of Sukuna’s final finger, the one that Yuji created from his own hand. The relic is unsealed as it no longer houses Sukuna’s soul, and it returns to Yuji’s old high school. The finger is meant to act as a deterrent for other low-level curses. So in a strange way, this final page brings Jujutsu Kaisen full circle.

Is the Ending of Jujutsu Kaisen Any Good?

The finale chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen may be short, but it packs a lot into its pages. Several big questions were answered as we learned Gojo Satoru is very much dead. Jujutsu society is recouping from it war against Sukuna, and after years of being in the shadow, the The road Yuji will travel with his friends moving forward will be rough, but he seems optimistic about everything that is to come.

And as for whether Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 is good, well – that is for you to decide. Everyone is a little different when it comes to their love of the series. Some gravitated to Jujutsu Kaisen because of Gojo’s arc while others joined in for the art. The finale of Jujutsu Kaisen is not for everyone, but from a macro level, it brings Yuji’s harrowing adventure to a solid close. And as the days stretch into weeks and months, the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen is going to spark all kinds of heated debate.

What do you think about the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Jujutsu Kaisen is in its final moments. The hit manga has been around for more than six years, and its story will come to a close in a matter of hours. Creator Gege Akutami will bring Jujutsu Kaisen to a close with chapter 271, after all. The series has spent months teeing up its epilogue for this finale, so the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom is buzzing ahead of its drop. So if you have questions about chapter 271, we’re here to give you answers.

From its release date to its online hub, ComicBook is breaking down everything you need to know about the Jujutsu Kaisen finale. It isn’t everyday a series this big comes to a close, you know? The hype behind Jujutsu Kaisen is bigger than ever, so all we can say to fans is brace for impact.

When Does Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271 Go Live?

To start off, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 will be released on Monday, September 30 in Japan. Fans in the United States will need to remember a different date. Given the time difference with Japan, the United States gets access to Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 on Sunday, September 29.

jujutsu-kaisen.png

As for where you can find the final chapter, Jujutsu Kaisen posts its chapters early on Sunday with the rest of Weekly Shonen Jump. In the United States, fans will be able to read Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 on the Shonen Jump app or Manga Plus. Weekly Shonen Jump brings its new chapters to life between 9:00 – 10:00 am CST. Fans on the West coast will have to wake up early to peep the finale first thing, but hey – that is the sacrifice you make for Jujutsu Kaisen.

How Will Jujutsu Kaisen End?

Of course, the biggest question surrounding the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen is its ending. How will the story wrap up? The question is impossible for anyone to answer unless they are Akutami or part of his editorial team. When it comes to storytelling, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen keeps fans on their toes, so anything is possible for this final outing.

There are plenty of theories circling about Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271. The manga’s epilogue has been pretty chill compared to the insanity of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. We have learned about several revivals as well as a coup against the New Shadow Style school. One of the biggest teasers from the epilogue dropped in chapter 270 fittingly enough. After revealing that Takaba was still alive, Jujutsu Kaisen hinted at the return of Geto (or his body at least) by giving us a glimpse at his body. And despite all the pleas, we still have not heard much about Gojo.

It has been over a year since Jujutsu Kaisen saw Gojo fall to Sukuna, and the brutal death has kept the fandom buzzing. Many expected the sorcerer to return to life, and to be fair, we have been given tons of evidence to suggest as much. Still, the epilogue for Jujutsu Kaisen has not touched upon the character’s comeback. All bets are on Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 to do the impossible with Gojo at this point, so we will have to see how Akutami handles the pressure.

What do you think about Jujutsu Kaisen‘s final stretch? How do you want to see the series close? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

It’s almost time to say goodbye to Yuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki, and Megumi Fushiguro as Jujutsu Kaisen only has one chapter left before the supernatural shonen series ends. Following the devastating fight against Sukuna, the surviving Jujutsu Tech students are looking to pick up the pieces as manga readers cross their fingers for resurrections. While creator Gege Akutami has hinted that something else is on the way, a sequel series has yet to be confirmed. With Jujutsu Kaisen ending its reign as one of the top-selling shonen series in Weekly Shonen Jump, the implications on the anime world in general are sure to be widespread.

In recent years, we’ve seen some major shonen series end, including the likes of Demon Slayer, The Promised Neverland, and My Hero Academia, with even the Straw Hat Pirates in the throes of their final saga. Amongst these shonen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen has been one of the highest-selling since it first debuted in 2020. While the manga might be ending, this doesn’t mean that the anime adaptation’s end is nigh. A third season has already been confirmed by Studio MAPPA and most likely, Yuji Itadori’s story will take at least four full seasons to wrap.

A Jujutsu Kaisen Sized Hole in Shonen Jump

Losing Jujutsu Kaisen, let alone Jujutsu Kaisen and so many other beloved manga series, makes for a major absence in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump. While the publication will still have One Piece to rely on, the twenty-plus-year series that has outsold many of its cohorts, Shueisha will need some new powerhouses to fill the gap. Luckily for manga readers, there is already a steady stable of stories that are looking to be the “next big thing”.

Sakamoto Days, Spy x Family, Chainsaw Man, DandaDan, and Kagurabachi are only a few examples of series that have already claimed widespread acclaim in terms of series that gained serious popularity in a relatively short amount of time. Considering only two of these series have received anime adaptations, the other three gaining small-screen notoriety is sure to amplify their sales if history is one of them.

jujutsu-kaisen-gojo.jpg

There’s No Replacing Jujutsu Kaisen

Some manga series like Dragon Ball and One Piece ran for decades so for some anime fans, it can be sad when a story ends only after a handful of years. Jujutsu Kaisen’s time has come to an end but there was an unpredictability in the series that was almost impossible to replicate. Creator Gege Akutami was more than willing to take major characters off the board when the story required it, adding a sense of danger that grabbed fans’ attention.

While many of these characters have become household names for anime fans, there was no character quite like Satoru Gojo. Gojo was consistently rated the number one character by fans time and time again in popularity polls and not even his demise was enough to get fans to stop talking about him. One of the most desired things that manga fans want to see is Gojo resurrected before the grand finale but even if he comes back to life, the fact that manga readers will no longer be able to see the character on an almost weekly basis is a tough loss for many. In the anime world, there are so many characters and stories that someone or something is sure to take Gojo’s place in fans’ hearts and minds.

Jujutsu Kaisen is ready to stay goodbye. After six years of publication, the hit Shonen Jump series is nearing the eve of its end. Creator Gege Akutami will usher in Jujutsu Kaisen‘s final chapter this weekend, leaving many to wonder how the series will wrap. Of course, fans are scouring the manga for any clues about what’s next, and Jujutsu Kaisen may have set up something with a recent revisit to the Culling Games.

If you are not caught up with Jujutsu Kaisen, then you will know that chapter 271 had quite the lead up. The manga followed Yuji and his friends as they were sent on a simple mission. The trio encountered a regular couple in the city who experienced some kind of supernatural affront. As it turns out, the leftover spiritual energy from the Culling Game is impacting the real world, and it is making regular people see residual curses.

The Fallout of the Culling Game

Megumi is the one who unpacks the stunning reveal, saying, “Just like Ijichi said, the effect of the residuals are just a little pesky… The main body of the cursed spirit isn’t possessing anyone, but there are diluted residuals. Plus the victim is experiencing minor difficulties.”

Clearly, the Culling Game is still causing problems long after its end. Kenjaku dreamed up the event ages ago, and he was able to put the Culling Game into effect after killing Mahito. Using the curse’s ability to change the soul, tons of regular folks were given cursed techniques and turned into sorcerers without consent. Many of them were killed during the Culling Game, but some did survive. And in the wake of the transformation, people are still being impacted by the cursed energy that Kenjaku unleashed.

Jujutsu Kaisen made sure to touch upon the event’s fallout as fans did want answers about the ordeal. However, the Culling Game is now raising questions ahead of the manga’s end. There is no doubt jujutsu society is in turmoil, and change is coming in fast for sorcerers. Even though the Culling Game is gone, the public is becoming more aware of sorcery than ever before. If the Shibuya Incident wasn’t enough of a wake-up call, the Culling Game made it clear. As we head towards Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271, fans are eager to see how this Culling Game fallout influences the future of jujutsu society.

How Will Jujutsu Kaisen End?

For now, we will have to wait and see how Akutami wraps his hit series. Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 will not go live until September 30 in Japan. The manga is one of the biggest series under Shonen Jump, so its finale has drawn the world’s eye. Expectations for Jujutsu Kaisen‘s last chapter are higher than ever, so fans will not want to miss out on the release.

If you are not sure where to find the manga, Shueisha has made it easy to read online. Jujutsu Kaisen can be found on the Shonen Jump app as well as Manga Plus. And of course, Viz Media oversees the manga’s physical release as well.

What do you think about this latest Jujutsu Kaisen teaser? Are you ready for the manga to close? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

If there is one thing Jujutsu Kaisen is good at, it is war. The supernatural series has never hidden its interest in violence as all our heroes have been on the battlefield. From curse users to top-grade curses, we have seen every kind of fight imaginable in Jujutsu Kaisen. Not long ago, the manga had fans locked in with Yuji’s final throwdown with Sukuna, and now one fan is going viral for bringing that battle to life.

As you can see below, the fight between Sukuna and Yuji was inked by the user Nelson_MorinJr on social media. The animator took to X (Twitter) to share their vision of the inevitable fight and honestly? Their one-man tribute is as good if not better than some official anime OVAs.

According to Nelson_MorinJr, they spent two months on this fan-anime, but you would not know that. The reel as it stands is very polished. From shading to sakuga, this Jujutsu Kaisen short has it all, and it proves why Yuji vs Sukuna will be a big one for Studio MAPPA to handle down the line.

Yuji Settles the Score with Sukuna on Screen

After all, Jujutsu Kaisen has built up Yuji vs Sukuna since it began. Creator Gege Akutami took Yuji for a spin six years ago when the boy came into contact with Sukuna for the first time. After swallowing the King of Curses’ finger, Yuji found himself thrust into a bloody world, but he handled it in stride. All the while, our hero had to contend with a murderous curse in his soul, and they butted heads plenty of times before the Shibuya Incident arc changed things for good.

If you are caught up with the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, you will know the ins and outs of Yuji’s final fight. Sukuna lorded over the Shinjuku Shodown arc like a god and not even Gojo could stop him. A slew of top-tier sorcerers were either killed or defeated by Sukuna before his last punches were thrown. Yuji managed to corner Sukuna with his improved hand-to-hand combat and shocking Domain Expansion. His improved techniques made Sukuna go on defense, but Yuji was only able to pull a win with help from his friends. Megumi and Nobara sealed the deal, so there is no doubt Gojo Satoru trained his kids right.

Jujutsu Kaisen Will End on September 30th

This fan-anime has brought attention to one of Yuji’s best fights in Jujutsu Kaisen, but the manga has already moved past the battle. For weeks now, the manga has been busy with its epilogue. Akutami revealed plans to end Jujutsu Kaisen on September 30 with chapter 271, and we are now just days out from that release. All eyes are on the update to see how Yuji’s crew closes their adventure, so readers will not want to sleep on this final outing.

As for where you can read Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271, it will be available on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app. Its anime is also easy enough to find online. Jujutsu Kaisen seasons one are two are now streaming everywhere from Crunchyroll to Hulu and Netflix.

What do you think about this take on Yuji vs Sukuna? Are you ready for Jujutsu Kaisen to bring season three to life? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a terrifying series, and its curses aren’t to blame. Sure, the Shonen Jump hit has tons of scary creatures on hand, and its violent battles have jumpscared fans across the globe. The series thrives off fear, and when it comes to terrifying fans, Jujutsu Kaisen revels with mind games. Those games are on full display right now as the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has a final chapter left to go. And if a new theory is right, well – the epilogue fans have fallen for might just be a dream.

Yeah, that is right. Jujutsu Kaisen might be trolling everybody. The manga has fans buzzing over chapter 270, and that is because a new theory suggests the epilogue has been nothing but a dream.

The Finale of Jujutsu Kaisen Is Going to Hurt

As for why fans think the epilogue will forego a happy ending, we have the title of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 270 to thank. It is titled “The End of a Dream”, and when you look at the Japanese name, things get weird. Netizens were quick to point out that the Japanese title can be read two ways. The first way leaves fans with the title mentioned above, and the second way teases the end of Yuji’s trio.

After all, fan-translators like soukatsu on X (Twitter) pointed out that Jujutsu Kaisen fans refer to Yuji’s trio as ゆめの (Yu, Me, No). The Japanese title of chapter 270 is “夢(ゆめ)の終わり”, and it houses that nickname. As such, an alternative reading of the chapter title is “The End of YuMeNo”.

Now for most fans, this alternative reading isn’t anything nefarious. The end is coming for Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara. Jujutsu Kaisen will end with chapter 271, so the trio’s story with fans will close. This second reading could be a simple nod to the finale, but for others, they think there is more going on with Jujutsu Kaisen.

jujutsu-kaisen-volume-25-cover-art-manga-sukuna.jpg

After all, netizens have questioned how happy the epilogue has been. Jujutsu Kaisen has its lighter moments, but of course, the series isn’t afraid to kill characters when need be. The manga’s epilogue has not only kept characters alive, but it has brought several back to life. There is also the matter of Sukuan’s final words. The King of Curses warned Yuji, “Don’t underestimate me. I’m a curse.”

Between the epilogue’s tone and the warning given by Sukuna, netizens are bracing themselves for the worst. The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen will not go out peacefully, that much is for sure. Some fans are now convinced creator Gege Akutami is going to bait-and-switch them with a dream. So as we head closer to the finale, readers will want to brace for impact.

What Is the Future of Jujutsu Kaisen?

After all, Jujutsu Kaisen is slated to end on September 30 in Japan, so the countdown is on. We are less than a week out from the series ending. Akutami has kept fans on edge with its epilogue. After more than six years, Yuji’s story is coming to a close, and there are a few loose threads left to tie. From Gojo Satoru to the Culling Game’s fallout, Jujutsu Kaisen needs to address a few things. And to be honest, the final chapter may just drop a plot twist that changes everything we know.

What do you think of this wild Jujutsu Kaisen theory? Does the evidence hold up? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Of the many returning and new anime adaptations arriving this fall anime season, DandaDan is aiming to be one of the biggest. Since arriving in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, the series has blown past one hundred and sixty chapters. With the announcement that Science SARU, the company responsible for the likes of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Devilman Crybaby, would be adapting the manga to the small screen, Okarun and Momo are close to becoming household names. In a recent interview with an executive at MBS TV, a Japanese broadcast network that has long housed some big anime, the industry higher-ups are already singing the series praises before its premiere.

If you aren’t familiar with DandaDan, the series is quite unlike anything else that has hit the anime world. “Okarun” is a young teenager who has found himself obsessed with aliens and unidentified objects while his cohort, Momo, finds herself attracted to the supernatural. In a switcheroo, Okarun encounters a ghostly gal known as the “Turbo Granny”, granting him a curse that grants him supernatural powers but also a looming threat over his head. On the other side, Momo is captured by creepy aliens that allow her to access her latent psychic abilities, which mostly need to be used to keep Okarun’s powers in check.

imageedit-4-5999582543.jpg

Is DandaDan The Next Jujutsu Kaisen?

In a recent interview with MBS TV’s director of the General Programming Department, Shinichi Tabuchi, praised DandaDan’s upcoming anime adaptation. On top of this Tabuchi stated that not only would Okarun and Momo’s tale follow in the footsteps of Jujutsu Kaisen but it would also “spread” like Haikyu and Demon Slayer, “It’s an anime that’s interesting even for old guys like us, about facing unexpected events while accepting each other’s diversity. I’m sure it will spread like Jujutsu Kaisen, Haikyu, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba“.

dandadan-okarun-anime.jpg
Okarun in DAN DA DAN

How To Watch DandaDan?

DandaDan is set to premiere its first episode on October 3rd, with streaming services such as Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Hulu looking to air the supernatural shonen. The first three episodes were also available to catch in theaters thanks to the release, DandaDan: The First Encounter. The “compilation film” included interviews with the cast and crew that helped bring the wild new anime to life, giving anime fans a better look into the making of the highly-anticipated anime.

Luckily, those looking to experience the anime via its English Dub might be thrilled to hear that the anime series will be simulcast. The current English cast includes Abby Trott as Momo, A.J. Beckles as Okarun, Kari Wahlgren as Seiko, Lisa Reimold as Aira, Aleks Le as JiJi, Barbara Goodson as Turbo Granny, and Den Diskin as Serpoian.

DandaDan: Shonen Jump’s Next Big Thing

Those who have been following news regarding all things shonen might be aware that some major franchises have either ended or are quickly approaching their end. With cases like My Hero Academia and Demon Slayer, the stories of Deku and Tanjiro have reached the end of the road. In relation to Jujutsu Kaisen, there is only one chapter remaining in the supernatural shonen series according to creator Gege Akutami, though a mysterious note to fans stating that the series would continue has fans wondering if Yuji and company still have stories ahead of them.

While there has been no word that DandaDan will return for a second season, things are looking good for Momo and Okarun. As mentioned earlier, the original manga has quite a few chapters in its run, meaning that there won’t be a lack of material should Science SARU want to continue the anime for seasons to come.

Jujutsu Kaisen only has one chapter left before Gege Akutami’s masterpiece shonen series as Chapter 271 has been touted as the manga’s last. While there could potentially be two more seasons of the anime adaptation released in the future, the manga has set the stage for Yuji Itadori and his friends to get the happiest ending they could considering the circumstances. Unfortunately, there has been one character who has yet to be brought back to the land of the living. This fact has had many Jujutsu Kaisen fans creating theories as to Satoru Gojo’s potential return and how that could still take place even with only one chapter left in the tank.

Warning. If you haven’t been keeping up with the manga’s events, be forewarned that we’ll be diving into massive spoilers for the future of Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime adaptation. In his fight against Sukuna, the king of the curses, Gojo did something that many thought was impossible, he lost. Yuji’s evil half was able to kill the Jujutsu Tech teacher but that wasn’t the last time we saw Satoru’s body walk the walk. In a desperate bid to defeat the franchise’s big bag, Yuta took a page from Kejaku, placing his brain into his teacher’s body.

Theories For Gojo’s Return

One of the biggest hints that anime fans think they’ve spotted in Jujutsu Kaisen’s latest manga chapter is a striking resemblance to a particular scene in the anime’s second season. Following the conclusion of the prequel arc, the Hidden Inventory Arc, Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi snapped Gojo out of his recollection of the past. In recreating this scene, many manga readers feel that this might be a way for Akutami to hint at the blindfold-wearing sorcerer’s return from the grave.

Another theory regarding Gojo’s return is that the Jujutsu Tech teacher might be making a comeback in a less desirable way than anticipated for the supernatural heroes. One fan theory has stuck to the idea that Gojo might not just have been reincarnated, but might cause a problem for Yuji Itadori, Megumi, and Nobara. Should Satoru Gojo return as a villain, would it be possible for his three students to take him down?

Will Jujutsu Kaisen Truly End?

In Chatper 270, Weekly Shonen Jump shared a message with fans that stated, “Jujutsu Kaisen will continue! Latest news and great announcement!” While the details regarding a potential sequel and/or spin-off have yet to be revealed, this news drop piqued the attention of many anime fans wondering if Gege Akutami was truly ending their long-running series. Should Jujutsu Kaisen return, the shonen series would be in good company considering the likes of Dragon Ball, Naruto, Fairy Tale, Inuyasha, Zatch Bell, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure have all created new stories following their initial outings.

Considering the sheer amount of casualties that have been a part of the series, it’s tough to think what a “Jujutsu Kaisen Shippuden” might look like. Luckily, since Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi ultimately survived the fight against Sukuna, a sequel would have the core trio leading the charge should Jujutsu Kaisen decide to keep moving forward with its story. Since series like One Piece have run for around twenty-five years, there is precedence for this supernatural shonen series to do the same.

Jujutsu Kaisen will be officially bringing the manga to an end with its next chapter, and the penultimate entry of the series has confirmed a major character has actually survived while another big name has died before it all comes to an end. Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen will be bringing its run in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine to an end after six years of serialization with its next chapter, and the final few releases of the series have been spent rounding out the final loose ends left after everything that happened in the fight against Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

Jujutsu Kaisen has brought back the core trio of Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki together after everything has happened, and the surviving Jujutsu Sorcerers have started to return to their daily lives. But while they do so, it’s also been revealed just how much damage has been done to Japan thanks to the events of the Culling Game. Those sorcerers that had been revived are still roaming around during the fallout, and those that had lost their lives are unfortunately gone forever. Which led to the reveal of one big confirmation one way and the other.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-ending-fushiguro-death.jpg
Megumi Fushiguro mourns his sister in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270: Who Dies?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270 confirmed a major death as Megumi Fushiguro and Shoko Ieiri are visiting the grave for Megumi’s sister, Tsumiki. Just as seen when her body was taken over by the revived sorcerer, Yorozu, who was seeking to help Sukuna. But during all of the chaos of the Culling Game, it wasn’t long before this revived sorcerer had lost her own life. This also unfortunately means that Megumi was ultimately unable to save Tsumiki from her fate, and it’s a failure that he’s going to have to carry.

This is what Megumi was struggling with when his body was fully taken over by Sukuna. As he was depressed over the fact that he let his body get taken over, he was more sad about the fact that he was also not able to protect his sister. It’s why he and Yuji entered the Culling Game in the first place, but it wasn’t long before it all had blown up in their faces. So unfortunately after everything they had been through during all of those fights, Tsumiki has sadly lost her life as it all comes to an end.

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the chapter, however, as fans get to see the Jujutsu Sorcerers who survived following the Culling Game. With the deadly tournament being interrupted before it could officially come to an end, it means those who had entered are still floating around Japan. This includes those who were able to activate their powers within the game (like Higuruma) and those who had been brought back to life. It’ll be up to Yuji and Hana from this point on to separate all of them from their inherent abilities as they will still need to be dealt with later.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270: Who Lives?

Among those survivors is Fumihiko Takaba, who apparently survived his fight with Kenjaku. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270 reveals a brief glimpse at Takaba as he’s working on a new comedy routine with someone who looks a lot like Suguru Geto (but their face is obscured). While his survival is certainly surprising, it also sort of makes sense within the wacky way he seemed to die during the Shinjuku Showdown. Due to his Cursed Technique, he and Kenjaku essentially went back and forth with a full comedic routine.

When it wrapped, Takaba was thought to be dead because he was dressed in a full funeral garb. It was a fittingly comedic send off for the character, and Kenjaku moved on with the rest of his plan. The two had even bonded over the fact that they were a great comedic duo with the same sensibilities, and Kenjaku even seemed distraught over the fact that Takaba had finally died. But compared to the way other fights had ended in the series, Takaba’s death didn’t really seem as final as those other endings.

Takaba also had the strength of a gag manga character, and meta-fictionally, gag characters are pretty much invincible. With the way we’ve seen other characters making their return from even worse seeming fates, Takaba surviving his encounter with Kenjaku just makes a lot of sense as he was likely never in any real danger in the first place. His leaving the series was just a way to write him out of the events of the Culling Game and Shinjuku Showdown arcs, and now that it’s all over, it’s no surprise to see that he’s gotten back to living a regular life after everything.

Jujutsu Kaisen is about to end, and with each new chapter, the series sparks more questions. Gege Akutami is slated to wrap his hit manga in less than a week’s time, so expectations are high for our heroes. After taking down Sukuna, Yuji has been through a whirlwind of last-minute coups and revivals. So of course, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 270 made everybody double take when it teased the revival of a surprising character.

And no, we’re not talking about Gojo Satoru. We have no update on the Six Eyes users, but what we do have is a teaser about Geto. The man’s body is back in action, so the question is how is behind the steering wheel.

jujutsu-kaisen-geto.png

Is Geto (or Kenjaku) Still Alive?

As you can see above, Jujutsu Kaisen made everybody geek out when chapter 270 checked in on Takaba. It turns out the man did survive the final fight with Sukuna, and he isn’t alone. We visit Takaba while he eats a meal out with someone, and Akutami makes sure to keep the other person’s face hidden. However, any Jujutsu Kaisen fan could tell the character eating with Takaba is Geto. Or at least, it is someone using Geto’s body.

The body’s broad frame and posture is easy to recognize, for one. Then there is also the issue with its hair. Geto was known for wearing his long locks half-up, half-down. The style was adopted by Kenjaku after the sorcerer coopted Geto’s corpse, and now that hairstyle is haunting us once more. Jujutsu Kaisen went as far as to hide Geto’s face with a text bubble, but c’mon – Geto stands will know the man anywhere.

Given Takaba’s interaction with Kenjaku during the Shinjuku Showdown arc, fans are eager to see how this aside plays out. Akutami could be trolling fans with a Geto lookalike, but Jujutsu Kaisen is pretty purposeful with its teasers. Whether Geto has returned to life or Kenjaku managed a final hijack, we will find out soon enough. Jujutsu Kaisen has one chapter left to go, and this thread is too integral to leave loose.

Jujutsu Kaisen Will End in One Chapter

For those eager to check out Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending, the series will close on September 30. Akutami has been working hard on the final chapter, and the manga’s epilogue has given fans a good bit of resolution. From Megumi’s return to the end of the New Shadow Style School, jujutsu society is in flux. The defeat of Sukuna has ushered in a new era that Yuji will help lead. But still, there are several things Jujutsu Kaisen has yet to tackle.

The biggest question mark is Gojo Satoru, of course. The sorcerer is the most popular character in Jujutsu Kaisen, and it has been over a year since his death against Sukuna. Given the epilogue’s recent revivals, fans are hopeful Akutami finds a way to bring Gojo back to life even if it takes a Binding Vow. The sorcerer has yet to come up in discussion, and the clock is ticking on his return. Jujutsu Kaisen will end in a week’s time and who knows? Maybe his return will come complete with Geto’s own revival?

Jujutsu Kaisen is marching towards its final chapter. It has been a long time coming, but at last, the hit Shonen Jump series has a single chapter left to its name. Creator Gege Akutami has been building their epilogue for weeks now, and as you can imagine, fans are not ready to say goodbye to Yuji Itadori. It is difficult to imagine the series ending, but all good things must come to a close… or do they?

In the past month, rumors about the future of Jujutsu Kaisen have run rampant, and now that gossip has high a new high. We have the most recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen to thank for the bump. After all, chapter 270 ends with a special teaser that confirms Jujutsu Kaisen “will continue”, but the question is how.

The Final Days of Jujutsu Kaisen

To break down this new teaser, we have to look at the Jujutsu Kaisen promo in context. At the end of chapter 270, a text box can be found that reads, “Jujutsu Kaisen will continue! Latest news and great announcement!” The blurb is posted in the Jujutsu Technical College News section of Weekly Shonen Jump, a dedicated part of the magazine focused on all things jujutsu. Each week, this section posts new info about the franchise whether we are talking merchandise, collaborations, anime updates, and beyond. So as you can imagine, this teaser about Jujutsu Kaisen continuing has fans pressed.

But it must be noted that the line does not single out the manga. Jujutsu Kaisen is going to continue, but we knew that already. Even if the manga is closing shop, Jujutsu Kaisen season three is in the works, and that Studio MAPPA project has often been discussed in this newsletter section. There are also additional descriptions of Jujutsu Kaisen in this week’s update teasing a “grand finale” and the “conclusion of the series”. So if you were hoping for Jujutsu Kaisen part two, well – you will want to temper that expectation ASAP.

What’s Next for Jujutsu Kaisen?

In the past, Akutami has talked about his desire to give Jujutsu Kaisen a satisfying end, and he has struck a cord with readers for the most part. From a series of surprise revivals to a major jujutsu coup, the manga’s epilogue has been busy. When it comes to the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, there is just one thing fans want an answer on, and that is Gojo Satoru. The sorcerer’s death has hardly been acknowledged in the epilogue, leaving many to speculate about Gojo’s return. Jujutsu Kaisen has one more chapter to pull off such a revival, and knowing Akutami, he will do the most to surprise readers with his finale.

With Jujutsu Kaisen set to close next week, all eyes will soon turn to Studio MAPPA and its production schedule. The team announced Jujutsu Kaisen season three some time ago, and we know the comeback will adapt the Culling Game arc. With the horror of Shibuya out of the way, Yuji and our heroes are about to encounter a new kind of jujutsu thanks to Kenjaku’s tournament. So if we are lucky, Jujutsu Kaisen season three might drop an update on fans this winter during Jump Festa 2025.

What do you think about this Jujutsu Kaisen update? Do you believe the series will continue with a sequel or spin off? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Jujutsu Kaisen is nearing its final chapter, and as you can imagine, the fandom is feeling pressed. The Shonen Jump manga has been leading the magazine for some years thanks to Gege Akutami. The series creator is a gifted storyteller, and their tense pacing has kept fans on edge for years. With Jujutsu Kaisen in the throes of its epilogue, all eyes are on Yuji as his adventure is about to end… or is it?

The epilogue of Jujutsu Kaisen has clarified a number of questions, but along the way, it has raised a big one by itself. The fandom wants to know if Jujutsu Kaisen is setting up a sequel and honestly? A part two is more likely than you may think.

Will the Story of Jujutsu Kaisen Continue?

For some time, the idea of Jujutsu Kaisen part two was a joke, but readers are not laughing any longer. The most recent updates from the manga has sparked legitimate theories about Jujutsu Kaisen getting a sequel. The latest teaser comes courtesy of Akutami himself as he dropped some major lore. In the most recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, not only did we learn about a coup with the New Shadow Style School but Mei Mei also touched upon Tengen and Kenjaku. It seems there is more going on in jujutsu society than we expected, and by far, the biggest has to do with its top clans.

After all, the final pages of chapter 269 make it clear that jujutsu society is undergoing a huge shift. There is a new leader of the New Shadow Style School, and the top jujutsu clans are now in disarray. The Zen’in clan has fallen after its encounter with Maki, so the Kamo and Gojo clans are locked in a war. This shift is big enough, but that does not even include the influx of sorcerers from the Culling Game. Hiromi Higurama is just one of many new sorcerers who gained cursed techniques because of Kenjaku. Now, that ordeal needs to be addressed as jujutsu society finds its new normal.

What does this new normal look like? Well, we will not know unless Jujutsu Kaisen expands with a sequel. The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen could address the issue with a time skip, but if we are being honest, that would be insulting. Jujutsu Kaisen has laid out a complex world complete with power scaling and politics. The fans deserve more than a flashfoward in this case, and the same goes for the heroes of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Does Jujutsu Kaisen Need a Sequel?

Between Kenjaku’s failed merger and the shifting lines of jujutsu society, Yuji has his work cut out for him. Jujutsu Kaisen has told the boy and his friends to relax as the adults will take things from here; However, if we learned one thing from Jujutsu Kaisen, it is that nothing is ever as it seems. If Yuji’s teachers want him to stay out of the action, then he will inevitably be brought into the drama. But does Yuji need a sequel to do this?

Ultimately, the one person who can dictate Jujutsu Kaisen‘s future is Akutami, and he is harder to read than Gojo himself. His epilogue has been fast paced, and despite it answering some big questions, Jujutsu Kaisen has more loose strings at its back. The fandom would love to see Jujutsu Kaisen continue, and the manga’s sales speak for itself. So if Akutami is not punking fans with this recent setup, then a part two may very well happen.

What do you think about the future of Jujutsu Kaisen? Would you be interested in a sequel? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Jujutsu Kaisen is the series that keeps on giving. Even with its final chapters on the horizon, all eyes are locked on to the manga’s loose strings. Since Jujutsu Kaisen began its epilogue, creator Gege Akutami has kept us on edge with big reveals and several happy endings. Still, Gojo Satoru is nowhere to be found. Netizens are desperate for Gojo to make a last-minute return, and a recent easter egg suggests such a revival is coming.

The update comes from Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269 as it went live this week. It was there fans were informed of two big revivals, but neither of them involved Gojo. We know Yuta Okkotsu is alive, and the same goes for Hiromi Higurama. The chapter did not touch upon Gojo, but its unusual focus on a clock left fans buzzing all over the globe.

How Is Gojo Related to a… Clock?

As you can see above, a clock is featured twice in the most recent Jujutsu Kaisen updates. The first time we see the clock is in chapter 268, and it reads 1:52. The next time we see the clock, it reads 2:21 to mark the passage of 29 minutes.

jujutsu-kaisen.png

Now you may be wondering how this clock and Gojo are tied together. Well, the biggest tie comes with chapter 221. In Jujutsu Kaisen, that chapter marks a massive milestone as it welcomed Gojo back from the Prison Realm. After years of waiting, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 221 brought Gojo back to the stage, so the clock made fans suspicious from the start.

However, as noted by fans like BIGDADDYGOJO online, the scene in which the 2:21 clock shows up is crucial. When we see the time, Yuji and the group are talking about binding vows and their tie to lifespans. With Yuta alive once again, the manga explains that lifespans are a form of energy. That energy can be transferred, of course, and Gojo has a unique ability to manipulate energy sources. Six Eyes gives the man the unique ability to manipulate cursed energy, so fans are theorizing that it can do the same with life energy.

If Gojo’s Six Eyes can manipulate life energy, a Binding Vow could be made that brings him back to life. Such a technique would require a heavy sacrifice, and well – Jujutsu Kaisen has made it clear that sorcerers need to be nerfed. Gojo’s birth caused the entire power scale to shift, and we have Six Eyes to blame. If Gojo is willing to sacrifice his Six Eyes to manipulate his life energy, that seems like a rather fair trade. The sorcerer would be alive once more but have the bulk of his power taken away. So maybe, just maybe, Gojo will get to make another big comeback before Jujutsu Kaisen closes.

Does Jujutsu Kaisen Need to Revive Gojo?

Of course, we have to ask the question: Does Gojo need to be revived? The character has been a leading man since day one, and Jujutsu Kaisen fans have grown attached to Gojo. He may have a childish personality, but at his core, Gojo is a man who wants the best for those he loves. He has put his life on the line countless times to save others, and yet, jujutsu society saw him as a weapon.

Gojo’s death easily caps his story, but Jujutsu Kaisen fans believe the hero deserves better. We know the manga is willing to kill its darlings, of course. We have seen a number of fan-faves die over the years, but Gojo is a different case entirely. As the mascot of Jujutsu Kaisen, the fandom is desperate for him to return to life. But as for whether Gojo gets that spotlight, well – we will have to wait and see.

What do you make of this latest Jujutsu Kaisen theory? Do you believe Gojo Satoru is a goner or…? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Jujutsu Kaisen has been spending the last few chapters wrapping up the final loose ends before the manga comes to an end later this month, and the newest chapter of the series is teasing the downfall for the top Jujutsu society families. Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Jujutsu Sorcery world is arguably still one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the series as a whole. With the the fight against Sukuna now ended, it’s time for Yuji Itadori and the surviving fighters to get to some level of normal as they recover from everything that went down in such a status quo shaking fight.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s sorcery world will continue to change after everything that’s happened with Sukuna, and it was even started before that with the events of the Shibuya Incident and Culling Game. But as the sorcery world continues to be shaken up, it’s the same for the families that were formerly on the top of the food chain as well. The newest chapter teases there will be a battle for dominance between the Gojo and Kamo clans, and it seems like it’s all going to fall apart.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-ending-gojo-kamo-clans.jpg
Yuji and Nobara think about the future in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269

What Happens in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269 picks up after the fight with Sukuna as the surviving sorcerers are breaking down everything that happened. Each one of them blames themselves for how involved or not involved they were in the fight itself, but at the end of the day they’re happy to still be alive. It’s then explained that more sorcerers could have survived had it not been for another clan keeping the New Shadow Style and Simple Domain techniques to themselves. They had been hoarding it through a Binding Vow, and it meant that no other sorcerers outside of that clan were able to learn it.

Because of this, there was actually a secret plan in action during all of the chaos with Sukuna. While the others were fighting, Mei Mei had tracked down the head of the mysterious New Shadow Style clan and assassinated them. Killing them to make Kusakabe the new leader of the clan, and thus allowing the Binding Vow to be removed (so that she could financially take advantage of it later), Mei Mei also had another reason for doing all of this. It’s because this family wanted to eventually send the three big families into chaos.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Who Are the Three Big Families?

Jujutsu Kaisen previously explained that the three families on the top of the Jujutsu world were the Zenin, Gojo, and Kamo clans. With Maki eliminating the Zenin clan following the Shibuya Incident, this only left the Gojo and Kamo clans. It’s teased in Chapter 269 that these families will eventually fall to ruin as a result of this shake up (and even more so following Gojo’s death as it will leave a full power vacuum), and this New Shadow Style clan was trying to take advantage of all of this to get to the top of the Jujutsu world.

But as we’ve also seen with Gojo eliminating the higher ups before his fight with Sukuna, it doesn’t really matter who sits at the top of Jujutsu society. It’s something that hasn’t really been fleshed out in a significant way through the course of the series, and will likely not play any crucial role now that there are only two chapters left. These clans falling will just be another way that the old gives way to the new in this new era of sorcery. Which means a brighter future for everyone who has survived through it all

Jujutsu Kaisen will be officially coming to an end in just two more chapters, and the manga’s latest update is tying up all the final loose ends with a surprise assassination. Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga will be ending its run in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine later this month after six years of serialization, and with it has ended the long fight against Sukuna. With this fight over, Yuji Itadori and the surviving Jujutsu Sorcerers are now recovering from everything that’s happened as they try and get back to some sense of normalcy after such an intense period.

Now that the Shinjuku Showdown arc has officially come to an end with Sukuna’s defeat, Jujutsu Kaisen has been spending these final chapters seeing all of the characters recover from all that has happened. This also includes a period in the newest chapter as they discuss how each of their respective plans against Sukuna worked or didn’t work out, and it turns out that Mei Mei was a lot more involved in the ending than expected as she has been working behind the scenes to benefit herself by killing off the former head of New Shadow Style.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-ending-assassination.jpg
Mei Mei in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269

Jujutsu Kaisen Kills Off a New Character

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269 sees Yuji, Yuta and the others apologizing to one another for how much or how little they were able to help in the fight against Sukuna. It all worked out at the end of the day, so everyone realizes that they’re all just talking in circles. So it’s time to look ahead to the future. It’s explained that Mei Mei actually opened up the use of New Shadow Style with her actions. It used to be a technique only available to a single family thanks to a Binding Vow on the technique.

Kusakabe explained that the inventor of the technique, Sadatsuna Ashiya, put a Binding Vow on New Shadow Style to keep it from leaking to Jujutsu Sorcerers. But as the generations rolled on, New Shadow Style lost its public benefit and the use of Simple Domain eventually became what she describes as a “trade secret.” The way it’s been managed now is that the clan with New Shadow Style kept it to themselves as they continued to enlist new sorcerers to teach them and further enforce the Binding Vow.

What Happens to New Shadow Style Now?

New Shadow Style is something that could help Jujutsu Sorcerers who don’t have Cursed Techniques fight against enemies. There are other imposed limits from the Binding Vow like not being able to refuse an order from the clan after learning the technique, and it apparently absorbs the lifestyle of the clan’s members. With only the leader being able to dispel the Binding Vow, it’s explained that Kusakabe has become the new head of the style. It turns out Mei Mei actually sought out the former head and killed them in secret.

Her plan is for Ui Ui to eventually become the head of New Shadow Style, and collect fees from future additions to the New Shadow Style Clan. It turns out that this clan wanted to quietly build the power of New Shadow Style and eventually stand up to the big three families, but Mei Mei put a stop to it before that happened. She was angered at the fact that sorcerers couldn’t even use Simple Domain and thus lost their lives in the fights, and made sure to take out this threat before it got worse. All in secret while everything else was going on. So while she didn’t fight in the final battle, Mei Mei plays a big role in the ending.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season might have got the lion’s share of its attention due to the shocking events of the Shibuya Incident Arc but the Hidden Inventory Arc had its fair share of eye-popping moments. One of the biggest of the prequel tale was the fight featuring a younger Satoru Gojo and the father of Megumi Fushiguro, Toji. Ultimately, Gojo was able to claim victory in the one-on-one brawl but it was no easy task. In an amazing new video, one Jujutsu Tech fan has recreated the hard-hitting, fast-paced battle via a live-action adaptation.

The Hidden Inventory Arc, for those who might need a refresher, took the chance to examine the earlier days of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, as the two future enemies were fast friends during their days at Jujutsu Tech. Rather than showing them as teachers, the two all-powerful characters were seen here as students, being sent on dire missions thanks to their wild abilities. During this prequel story, the two best friends were given a task of protecting the “Star Plasma Vessel”, a young girl who was slated to make a major sacrifice to “benefit” the supernatural world. Unfortunately, the mission went awry when Riko was murdered by Toji.

Jujutsu Kaisen: The Gojo/Toji Brawl Comes To The “Real World”

Animator Khary Ashmore spent around one year’s time in creating this new blending of live-action and animation, recreating a pivotal moment in the confrontation between Toji and Gojo. While the initial phase of the battle saw Gojo suffering an injury that many believed had killed him, the hero was able to bounce back to his feet. During the “re-match”, Satoru was able to kill Megumi’s father and avenge the death of Riko in doing so.

How Did Toji Return?

Despite blowing a giant hole in Toji that was more than enough to kill his opponent, Gojo didn’t keep him in the ground forever. Megumi’s father was able to make a surprising return during the Shibuya Incident Arc thanks in part to a villainous sorcerer ingesting one of his bones, expecting to use Toji’s power for his own. The villain in question was unable to keep control as Toji claimed the body for his own, fighting everyone on the battlefield, hero and villain alike.

During the second season’s final arc, Toji runs into his own son Megumi. During their knock-down, drag-out battle, the Fushiguro senior would come to the startling discovery that he was fighting his offspring. In a shocking move, Toji would take his own life, realizing that he did not want to be the one to kill Megumi as Shibuya fell into chaos.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Future

The end of Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga is nigh, as creator Gege Akutami is preparing to say goodbye to the supernatural world they had created. With scant few chapters remaining, anime fans are speculating on who will survive the finale and how the shonen manga will bid farewell to Jujutsu Tech. Luckily, while the manga might be ending, the anime adaptation still has some major events and battles to bring to life. Studio MAPPA confirmed that a third season was in the works, looking to adapt the arc known as the “Culling Game”. Season three hasn’t been billed as the show’s last, meaning that a season four might be on the way as well.

Jujutsu Kaisen likes to keep its fans on edge, and that has never rang more true than now. Thanks to creator Gege Akutami, the hit Shonen Jump series has left readers dangling over everything from sudden deaths to long-awaited reunions. These days, Jujutsu Kaisen is upping the ante as the manga has just two more chapters to go before it closes. As such, each chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen epilogue has made big reveals, and the most recent confirmed the revival of two major characters.

If you are caught up with the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, you will known that not one but two revivals just came through. The first was telegraphed by Yuji’s friends as the epilogue suggested Yuta Okkotsu was far from dead. And as for the second, well – Jujutsu Kaisen took fans by surprise as it confirmed Hiromi Higurama was not as dead as he seemed.

Jujutsu Kaisen Revives Yuta and Hiromi

Of course, Jujutsu Kaisen made fans wait patiently before revealing these two revivals. If you will recall, the Shinjuku Showdown arc sent Higurama packing awhile back. The sorcerer appeared during themanga’s final arc to help Yuji take down Sukuna, and his law-abiding technique did some serious damage against the King of Curses. However, in the end, Sukuna was able to find a legal loophole. The last we saw Higurma, the lawyer had been dealt a critical injury by Sukuna, leaving Ui Ui and Kirara to transport him from battle. Given how Jujutsu Kaisen likes to kill its characters, most assumed Higurama was killed by Sukuna, but he survived the blow with just a broken arm.

As for Yuta, well – his return is a lot more complicated. During the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Yuta was near death as Sukuna did lethal damage to the boy’s body. He then transferred his brain to Gojo’s corpse with help from Kenjaku’s technique, giving him a second shot at battle. Still, Yuta could only keep up the technique for so long. When we last saw Yuta on the battlefield, his time in Gojo’s body was dwindling, but Yuta was saved from death once more. It turns out Rika’s love for Yuta pushed her to revive the boy. Using her reverse cursed technique, Rika not only pieced together Yuta’s corpse but was able to put his brain back inside the body. The curse’s immense power was able to bring Yuta back to life, so he managed to evade death quite a few times.

Who Died in the Final Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen?

As for who actually died during the Shinjuku Showdown arc, well – the jury is out. Jujutsu Kaisen has two chapters left to go before it ends, so more revivals could be on the way. As far as we know, Gojo Satoru is still very dead, but fans are downright desperate for his return. Beyond that, we know the final arc took out Sukuna and Uraume as well as Kenjaku. Some ancient sorcerers like Kashimo were killed on their own terms, and of course, Choso gladly gave his life to save Yuji from one of Sukuna’s blows. There is no denying that the final arc of Jujutsu Kaisen was a blood bath. However, some of its presumed deaths are now walking themselves back.

What do you think about this last-minute Jujutsu Kaisen reveal? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

In a recent report, one outlet took the opportunity to break down which franchises are sitting at the top of the charts when it comes to overall sales in the West. While there are some tried and true series that might not come as a surprise to those following the manga world, there are some surprising candidates that are sitting at the top of the anime ladder.

Recently, we here at ComicBook.com shared a “report to Shonen Jump advertisers” that saw Weekly Shonen Jump breaking down its biggest series at the moment. In the breakdown, Shueisha noted that series such as One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Sakomoto Days, Blue Box, and Kagurabachi are the top stories worldwide, that are still releasing new chapters, that manga readers are gravitating toward. On the flip side, there are still several manga series that, despite reaching their natural conclusions, that readers are still diving into including Haikyuu, The Promised Neverland, Demon Slayer, and My Hero Academia. While the latest report of most beloved US Manga in 2024 has its fair share of Shonen, there are some examples of stories that exist outside of Weekly Shonen Jump.

North America’s Top Manga in 2024

According to a new report via Circana Entertainment, six manga are sitting at the top of the anime ladder in North America for the first half of 2024. As explained in the new report from Circana’s Senior Executive Director, Kristen McLean, the pandemic helped to boost overall manga sales around the world, and said sales aren’t looking to decline. In discussing manga sales concerning physical bookstores, McLean stated the following, “I urge you to keep with it because I do think that the fans that we accrued during the pandemic are not going away.” The six titles include:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen
  • The Apothecary Diaries
  • Delicious In Dungeon
  • One Piece: Ace’s Story – The Manga
  • Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
  • Demon Slayer: Kimetsu Academy

Manga Spin-Offs Are Big Business

While it should come as no surprise that the likes of The Apothecary Diaries, Delicious in Dungeon, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End found their way to this list, the spin-off series featured might throw anime fans for a loop. Both Demon Slayer: Kimetsu Academy and One Piece: Ace’s Story are series that are supplementary material to their main franchises. In the case of Kimetsu Academy, it’s an entirely new story focusing on the Demon Slayer Corps in a far lighter environment. The manga itself did give birth to an anime series which is available to stream on Crunchyroll, though each episode is only around one minute in length.

One Piece: Ace’s Story is a trip to the past, focusing on the earlier adventures of Monkey D. Luffy’s older, fire-wielding brother. At present, the series has not been confirmed for an anime adaptation though it’s clearly become popular in its own right. While One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda forged the initial concept, the manga was drawn by Dr. Stone veteran, Boichi. As of the writing of this article, Ace’s prequel tale has yet to be confirmed to receive its own anime adaptation.

Yuta Okkotsu in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269

Jujutsu Kaisen will officially be coming to an end in just a couple of more chapters, and the newest chapter of the manga has revealed how Yuta Okkotsu was able to come back to life after everything that happened in the fight against Sukuna. Jujutsu Kaisen will be coming to an end later this month, and that means there are only two chapters left to go from Gege Akutami’s long running series. With the fight against Sukuna over as the Shinjuku Showdown arc ended its duration, it’s now time for Yuji Itadori and the others to recover before the grand finale.

Jujutsu Kaisen has been spending its final chapters seeing Yuji and the others break down everything that happened in the fight with Sukuna, and each of them has been suffering significant losses since the Shibuya Incident. But thankfully one of these potential losses was avoided as while Yuta had cut out his brain and put it into Gojo’s body in a final desperate gambit against the King of Curses, he was saved from his own fate thanks to just how much love Rika has for him at the end of the day.

Jujutsu Kaisen 269: Yuta Returns

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269 picks up after the previous chapter that saw Maki yelling at Yuta for his actions during the Shinjuku Showdown. Yuta is then revealed to be completely back in his body (with the forehead stitches to prove that his brain is back and intact). He explains that while Rika didn’t follow him over to Gojo’s body when he had initially switched, he thought he lost his connection with her as a result of then copying Gojo’s former abilities. But thanks to Shoko Ieiri and Rika both using Reverse Curse technique to maintain Yuta’s body after his brain was removed, he still had a body to return to.

When his copy of Kenjaku’s technique had burned out within Sukuna’s Domain, Yuta thought he was going to die. But it turns out that Kenjaku was still active even after the Domain was opened. It was somehow possible to divide multiple curse techniques through barrier techniques. Because Rika was an external curse technique, Yuta was able to reunite with her when he got access to his curse techniques once more. So he was able to return to his body and use Rika to come back to life in full.

What Happens to Gojo Now?

This also raises a very interesting question, however. Because now that Yuta has fully returned to his body, what does that mean for Gojo? It’s unfortunately looking like fans won’t get their dream of the character somehow also returning back to life before the series comes to an end. Yuta was only able to survive the brain transfer due to Rika’s outside interference and a confluence of chance happenings making it possible to return to his body, but Gojo was in a much worse situation.

Gojo was completely dead before Shoko had removed his brain for Yuta’s use, and although his body was active, it’s not likely that Gojo was preserved in the same way that Yuta’s was before he returned to his body. This also means that Yuji and the others will likely have to properly say goodbye to Gojo, and send him off in full as it all comes to an end. It will be a spiritual final return for the character at most, but fans hoping to see him share in this happy ending with the others will likely be very disappointed after Yuta’s comeback.

Back in 2018, the world got its first taste of jujutsu sorcery, and fans never looked back. Gege Akutami created a rich supernatural world with his manga, and these days, Jujutsu Kaisen is now reigning over the charts. With its anime breaking records season after season, all eyes are on the Jujutsu Kaisen manga as its days are numbered. The series will end in just a few weeks, and it seems Akutami has kickstarted work on the final chapter.

The update comes from Akutami himself, so fans can brace themselves. Jujutsu Kaisen returned to Shonen Jump this week with a new chapter, and it was there fans marched through more epilogue reveals. From last-minute revivals to a jujutsu coup, Akutami kept fans on their toes this week. He also posted an author’s note as usual, and it was there the artist teased a bit about their final chapter.

What Is Akutami’s Endgame for Jujutsu Kaisen

“It’s my first time drawing an ending of something. Even though we’re in the final chapters, it still feels so new,” Akutami shared with fans. With just two chapters left of Jujutsu Kaisen, the artist’s endgame has never been closer. The manga has run at a blistering pace since day one, and following Sukuna’s defeat, Jujutsu Kaisen has kept its pace. The epilogue has slowed down a hair as Yuji’s story is ready to close. But with the manga’s end in sight, Akutami is now tying his loose ends behind the scenes.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga.png

Even with two chapters in the bank, the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen is still a big mystery to fans. There are tons of theories online teasing its most likely outcomes, but Jujutsu Kaisen has thoroughly surprised fans with its epilogue so far. Not only did the manga enter its final steps with Nobara’s return, but Megumi and a number of other heroes managed to survive. While characters like Choso did pass away, others like Yuta managed to claw their way back to life. This has left fans on edge about Gojo’s fate as no one has heard about the sorcerer since his demise against Sukuna. For months, fans have theorized that Gojo will somehow come back to life even if it takes a Binding Vow to do so. But with two weeks left to go, Jujutsu Kaisen has not touched upon Gojo’s death.

When Will Jujutsu Kaisen End?

Of course, Akutami likes to keep fans on edge, so Jujutsu Kaisen may not touch upon Gojo’s fate until the final chapter if then. We know the manga will come to an end on September 30 in Japan, so the countdown is on for Akutami. The entire editorial team behind Jujutsu Kaisen is surely feeling the weight of this finale. So if you can spare a moment, send Akutami and his team well wishes as they tackle the final stretch of the manga.

If you want to catch up on the series ahead of its finale, Jujutsu Kaisen is easy to read. You can find the supernatural manga on the Shonen Jump app as well as Manga Plus. And for its anime, Jujutsu Kaisen seasons one and two are streaming on Crunchyroll as well as Hulu.

What do you think about this Jujutsu Kaisen teaser? Are you ready for the hit manga to end? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

If there is one thing Jujutsu Kaisen fans love, it is Gojo Satoru. When artist Gege Akumtai first inked the sorcerer, he had no idea how popular the hero would become. From his trollish humor to his godly powers, Gojo Satoru is a singularly unique sorcerer. To date, the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom has yet to embrace any character the way it has with Gojo, and now one fan is going viral for bringing the man’s Six Eyes to life.

The tribute comes from Khary Ashmore, a popular VFX creator on YouTube. In the past, the creator has turned himself into a number of anime heroes with painstaking video editing, and he has now turned his focus to Jujutsu Kaisen. After all, his latest video is “I Spent 200 Days Creating Gojo in Live Action”, and the final video is something out of a Hollywood blockbuster.

Introducing Gojo Satoru, a Live-Action God

As you can see, Ashmore did not spare any expense in bringing Gojo to life. Using a combination of video effects and motion capture, the world’s most powerful sorcerer was brought to life on screen. From his quaffed hair to his blinding blue eyes, every piece of Gojo looks like it was taken straight from the manga. And once Gojo enters the battlefield, all bets are off for the city around him.

In the clip, you can see Gojo fighting a winged curse, and the VFX done to create the beast are very smooth. We watch as Gojo throws caution to the wind as he tosses himself from the top of a skyscraper. With the wind underneath him, he uses Infinity to stay safe while preparing his big attack. The live-action short ends with Goja using his Reversed Curse Technique: Red on the beast, and the devastating blow is seen reverberating across the cityscape.

Does Jujutsu Kaisen Need a Hollywood Adaptation?

Jujutsu Kaisen has made it clear that Gojo is the absolute strongest when it comes to sorcery, and this epic live-action short unpacks a tiny bit of that aura. From his Domain Expansion to Hollow Purple and Infinity, Gojo is rolling in top-tier attacks. There is a reason Gojo is labeled a Special Grade sorcerer and why he is ranked at the top of that list. Jujutsu society isn’t into flattery; You are ranked appropriately for your power output, and Gojo damn near broke the scale as a child. His birth shifted the world’s power scale as Gojo was blessed with Six Eyes and Infinity. So really, you can imagine the kind of damage Gojo could do.

This live-action short brings to life some of the energy Gojo has brought to Jujutsu Kaisen both in print and on the screen. Now, fans are beginning to think about the promise of a live-action Jujutsu Kaisen movie. Hollywood is investing heavily into the medium, and thanks to hits like Netflix’s One Piece, studios know what a successful adaptation looks like. With the right studio, Jujutsu Kaisen could become the prestige adaptation of our dreams. For now, no word has been given on any sort of Jujutsu Kaisen project in Hollywood. The only live-action adaptation Jujutsu Kaisen has embraced to date is its stage plays in Japan. Not long ago, the stage play project announced its return as it plans to adapt Jujutsu Kaisen 0, so Yuta Okkotsu will make his live-action debut soon enough!

What do you think of this live-action take on Jujutsu Kaisen? Do you think the series deserves a Hollywood rollout? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

While there are some major publishers such as Kodansha and Shogakukan, it’s impossible to deny that Shonen Jump has had the biggest influence on the anime world. To this day, some of the biggest anime franchises first got their start as manga in the regularly-released publication including the likes of Dragon Ball, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and countless others. With many series either having reached their end or their finales right around the corner, a new generation is on the way to lead the charge. Thanks to a new report, the most profitable properties of Shonen Jump have been revealed to give manga fans a better idea of what is taking home the gold.

While Shonen Jump primarily operates out of Japan, the rise in anime’s popularity has helped the publisher gain a serious foothold in North America and the world at large. The manga anthology printed its first copy in 1968, getting the ball rolling on decades of manga dominance. To this day, the series have become so popular that Shonen Jump has received its own genre as “Shonen Anime” remains a major talking point in the medium. Even with some major franchises reaching their natural conclusion, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t worthy successors waiting in the wings.

shonen-jump.jpg

Shonen Jump’s Top IPs Revealed

In a recently released “Media Guide For Advertisers”, Shonen Jump revealed which series, ongoing and finished, continue to drum up some serious profits for the publication. As it stands, the biggest ongoing series include:

  • One Piece
  • Jujutsu Kaisen
  • Sakomoto Days
  • Blue Box
  • Akane Banashi
  • Kagurabachi

On the other side of the aisle, Shueisha also revealed the most profitable series they own that have already released their respective series finales:

  • My Hero Academia
  • Demon Slayer
  • Haikyuu
  • The Promised Neverland

Shonen Jump’s Next Generation

While the likes of My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Haikyuu, and The Promised Neverland have released their final chapters, Jujutsu Kaisen’s finale is right around the corner and One Piece is in the throes of its final saga. In keeping this in mind, there is set to be a power vacuum when it comes to new stories taking the top spots in Shonen Jump. Early next year, Sakomoto Days will be releasing its first anime adaptation on Netflix, potentially meaning that the assassin story set in a convenience store might reach new heights of profitability.

Arguably, the biggest manga that has yet to have any news of anime adaptation is Kagurabachi, the sword-slinging series that has risen the ranks in a mind-bending short amount of time. While nothing is set in stone, that isn’t stopping anime fans from debating which studios might be best at bringing Chihiro to life.

Shonen Jump’s Packed Fall Season

This October, anime fans are in for one of the biggest fall seasons in the medium’s history. With My Hero Academia still releasing new episodes as a part of its seventh season, the highly anticipated Dragon Ball Daima will arrive as one of the biggest series’ comebacks of the genre. Joining Son Goku and the Z-Fighters will be Dandadan, a shonen supernatural series that has made serious leeway with its manga and is hoping to see the Science SARU production gain ever more adulation. Shonen fans are also awaiting the return of Bleach as Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 will land next month, continuing the fight between the Soul Society and the Sternritter.

Satoru Gojo has long been considered to be the most popular Jujutsu Kaisen, as anime fans have routinely voted that way in past popularity polls focusing on the supernatural shonen series. As manga readers have seen, despite his nigh-limitless power, Gojo could not defeat the king of curses, Sukuna. Dying during his previous battle, shonen fans have been wondering if Satoru has truly passed from this mortal coil or if a surprise resurrection might be waiting in the wings. According to one fan’s in-depth theory, the resurrection of Satoru Gojo might happen before the manga draws Jujutsu Tech’s story to a close.

Despite Gojo dying in his fight against Sukuna, the all-powerful teacher did make his way back to the battlefield, albeit in a way that many readers didn’t see coming. Yuta Okkotsu, the star of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, made the drastic decision to jump into his teacher’s corpse, utilizing the power of Gojo in attempting to take down the cursed king. Unfortunately, Yuta was unsuccessful in using this tactic to destroy Sukuna but it did give Yuji Itadori the opportunity to both unleash his Domain Expansion and put the battle to bed. With scant few chapters left, one fan theory imagines that the manga might have a surprise resurrection on the way.

Breaking Down Gojo’s Possible Return

In a new meaty Jujutsu Kaisen theory, an anime fans breaks down several different hints and teases that they believe will see the blindfolded hero making a comeback before the end. In Chapter 268, for example, the theorist notes that there was no acknowledgment of Gojo’s death and that Nobara didn’t express much emotion for the demise of her teacher as she had for her classmate Yuji. In recent chapters, creator Gege Akutami also confirmed that “curses can bring people back to life” in a similar fashion to jujutsu.

The theory then dives further into the idea that while Satoru Gojo might return, he will be different from how manga readers previously experienced him. With the six eyes now out of the picture thanks to the events of the final battle, the cycle of resurrection might end and a powerless Gojo might return to the land of the living. Since it was implied in the past that Gojo resents his strength, returning to the world as a regular person might be the happiest ending the teacher could receive.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Future Explained

Now that the fight against Sukuna has ended, Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga only has three chapters left in the tank before Yuji ITadori’s story ends. With this many installments left, it has yet to be seen whether the final will arrive this month or next but the supernatural shonen series will end this fall regardless.

The end might be nigh for the manga but Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime still has some big battles and events to adapt. Following the success of the television show’s second season, Studio MAPPA wasted little time in confirming that a third season was in the works, adapting the storyline known as the “Culling Game”. This particular arc is a direct result of Suguru Geto’s machinations in the Shibuya Incident Arc, unleashing countless curses on the world and pitting cursed sorcerers against one another. While season three has yet to receive a release date, it’s sure to make a major impression on the anime world once the Culling Game begins.

Jujutsu Kaisen will be officially ending its run in later this month, and the manga really doesn’t owe the fans anything other than Satoru Gojo’s safe return before it all ends. Jujutsu Kaisen shocked fans everywhere when Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine would be coming to an end later this month as fans were just as shocked to find out that this fight against Sukuna would be the final fight of the series overall. As the manga ends in just three more chapters, there are still many questions that need to be answered in some form before it wraps up

Jujutsu Kaisen has officially ended the fight against Sukuna, and Yuji Itadori and the surviving sorcerers are preparing for whatever is coming next. With all of the death that has come to the series and its characters over the course of this fight, there’s still one death that feels like it could still somehow be reversed. With characters coming back from worse circumstances, and with how strong he truly is, it still feels like Gojo could end up being alive before it all wraps up its run.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-gojo-return-yuta-kenjaku.jpg

Is Gojo Truly Dead?

The major question surrounding Gojo’s fate is still why fans are refusing to accept it as it all comes to its end. While there have ben characters who have died in the intense battles against Sukuna and the other curses, and their death was quickly confirmed to be the case. It’s the same situation for Gojo too, yet it’s still hard to accept this death. Gojo’s been such a prominent figure in the series, and even surpasses the love for Yuji in the fandom itself, so the fact that he’s died in battle seems like something we can’t really let go.

It’s also why he just needs to come back. Yuji and the others are heading towards a happy ending, and that just seems like a miracle after everything they’ve been through. Nobara Kugisaki returning just in time to deliver the final blow against Sukuna seemed like a miracle, and Gojo returning before it all ends would be the same. Yuji and the Jujutsu Sorcerers have been living in a world of death throughout the entire thing (as even being a sorcerer means they know they will die during their fight), so having them all be alive in the end would make for an even happier ending.

Does Gojo Come Back to Life?

Is it even possible for Gojo to come back to life at this point? There is a way, but it’s an ugly one. Gojo was not only fully dealt with by Sukuna and cut in half (and thus his spirit seemingly passed on when he was “reunited” with Suguru Geto in the afterlife), but things were complicated when Yuta Okkotsu used Rika’s power to enter Gojo’s body and use it like some kind of meat machine. It was this using Gojo’s body that made him seem like he was even further dead than fans were hoping for, and this was as close to a revival he’d get (disrespect to his body and all).

But just as Kenjaku and Yuta were able to transfer their brains to new bodies, it’s unfortunately still doable with Gojo. It’s not impossible for Gojo to return in this manner if he’s been kept preserved, and it’d be a wild visual but also he’d be reunited with Yuji and the others. But the again, maybe the best return for Gojo is to just let him be at peace. That would be acceptable as well to be completely forward. If Gojo just returned one more time to send off the series, then it’ll feel complete. He doesn’t have to be alive to do it either. Just come back one more time.

Jujutsu Kaisen only has three chapters until it brings its manga to an end. Keeping this in mind, creator Gege Akutami has been wrapping up the final fight and laying the groundwork for just about the happiest ending that the broken anime sorcerers could hope for. Early on in the fight against Sukuna in Megumi’s body, the impossible happened in the series: Satoru Gojo died. In a shocking twist of fate, Gojo’s body was able to spring into action thanks Yuta Okkotsu taking his former sensei for a ride. As the end approaches, Jujutsu Kaisen has a decision to make and that decision involves Gojo remaining in the grave.

Throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo has been the pinnacle of strength. Whether it’s thanks to this fact or the fact that Gojo’s bubbly personality is infectious, anime fans have routinely voted Satoru as the most popular character of the shonen series. Whether it’s in the anime or the manga, Gojo has been in dire straits. While Satoru is alive and kicking in MAPPA’s production, he is currently trapped in the Prison Realm thanks to the Shibuya Incident Arc, though luckily, his death is still far away in the television series.

jujutsu-kaisen-gojo.jpg

Rest In Peace Gojo

In a way, Gojo’s passing has acted as a baton hand-off to Yuji Itadori, as the anime protagonist has needed to step up to the plate in fighting against his “darker half”. Luckily, Yuji had more than managed to take the final battle in stride. Even though his brother Choso was killed in the battle against Sukuna, Itadori not only summoned more strength inside of himself but was also able to create his first domain expansion in the process.

Gojo might have been holding a lot of curses back but Yuji and the friends that managed to survive the series, aka Nobara and Megumi, have gone through some serious tests to make sure they are ready for any carnage to come. Their teacher’s presence would give them a sense of security wherein they might not work on becoming stronger as the trio have excelled in their respective times of turmoil. Even though Gojo’s spirit might have passed on, it is possible that his body will remain active.

Is Yuta Destined To Be Gojo?

As mentioned previously, Yuta Okkotsu made the tough decision to swap his brain into Gojo’s body to stand a chance against Sukuna. Unfortunately, the gamble meant that Yuta would only have a limited amount of time before perishing himself. As readers witnessed in the previous chapter, Yuta’s death might not be assured and he might just keep permanent residence in his teacher’s form. This could work as a way for creator Gege Akutami to “have their cake and eat it to”, keeping Gojo dead while also having Okkotsu piloting his corpse would work to appease both sides of the aisle.

Gojo’s influence on Jujutsu Kaisen cannot be overstated as the popular character had a major impact on the landscape, the heroes, and the villains that make it up. While Satoru will most certainly be missed, his era has come to an end and it is time for a new generation of sorcerers to pick up the slack and forge a new future. We might not see a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel, but Gojo certainly put in enough work to leave an impression on the anime world with what we did see.
